  • Canada/IAH/GCM connect PING -> ZAP

Zap, you seem to be quite knowledgeable so I'm hoping you can help me out. Looking through the forums, I think I've seen possible answers, but I wanted to pick your brain for my specific situation. Flying YVR - GCM via IAH with United. Arriving Term E, departing Term C. 37 minutes connection time. I'm certain this is a standard United flight that occurs every day, but this seems to be a VERY tight connection. Surely they don't expect us to get our bags, recheck them, and then go through Customs again in Houston do they? I'm hoping that since we clear US Customs in Vancouver that we will just have to get off plane in IAH, and proceed to the next gate to board the flight to GCM. Is this the case? Or will we have to wait for our bags, etc. Thanks in advance!

Yes, if you preclear in YVR you don't have to go through immigration in IAH. It will be handled just like any domestic flight and could arrive into C or E (for example today's YVR-IAH flight arrived at C-35). Also since that flight leaves so early it is less likely to be delayed. Today it left 1 minute late and arrived 23 minutes early.

  • Walking time between E and D

I will be flying United express UA5201 arriving at terminal B I will be leaving out of terminal E to Frankfurt on Lufthansa flight LH441. I have a 4.5 hour layover and wondering if its feasible to walk between D and E since there is more food and shopping at E.

I suppose you could walk From TB to TE, however, it's easier to take the above-ground TerminaLink train, connecting TB with TC, & TD/TE inside security. As you get off the train at TD/TE, you find the ticketing area to the right; if you arrive by car or taxi at either of the two entrance doors, you see the ticket counters in front of you. This area also has an escalator to Level 1, International Arrivals, which has in the lobby a passenger greeting area. Once you get through security check on either side, you can proceed to the gate area.

I was going to take the terminal link between B and D but when i actually get to D there isnt many things to do so is the walk between D and E feasible or should i just suck it up and stay at D

  • Connection time for flight from Edmonton

I am flying from Edmonton into Houston Terminal E and then onto Miami. All with United. The flight gets into Houston at 5:15 AM and the next leaves for Miami at 7:06 from terminal C I think. I know that US customs will be closed in Edmonton at that time of night so we will have to clear in Houston. Will that be enough time to clear customs and do we have to go through security again?

The YEG-IAH redeye arrives into terminal E to clear customs. You have plenty of time, it should be pretty empty at that time (only other international flights that early are a few from South America).

And yes, any time you go through US immigration you have to go through security again.

Thanks! We will also have to pick up our luggage before going to customs, correct?

    Yep!

I will travel with United on 16-Mar from Bogota to IAH and then SFO.(UA 1008 & 1257). Our layover is 1hr 10 min. Can we make the connection? As I travel with kid and need collect baggage ,go through customs. What terminal will the 2 flights be? thanks

You will arrive in Terminal E. You will depart from Terminal C or E. 1 hour 10 mins is possible if there are no delays. If you miss your connection to SFO there are several later flights that you will be able to be re-booked on.

Not bad for airport food. Filling. Plenty of chicken. Extra ranch. The lettuce was a little tired.

Terrible rip-off store. Do not shop there. I made the mistake and the merchandise broke right away. The store refused to help me. I had the product there and they saw the damage, and refused to replace with an identical item right there on their shelf. They had my $300 bucks so didn't lift a finger to help. Save your self a lot of money and shop somewhere that cares.

Try contacting Brighton company directly and tell them the whole story. They may be able to resolve the issue with a replacement.

I am sorry that you feel that our staff refused to help you in your quest. Our shop is well known for excellent, friendly customer service, a recognition of which we take great pride. When you were in the shop, they asked if you had a receipt for the purchase of your handbag, as all stores now require proof of purchase to replace such an expensive item. You told them that you did not have the receipt, at which time they informed you that without the receipt there was no proof of when you bought the bag and they could not exchange it for another one in the shop. At the time of your visit you were also informed that it is a Brighton Collectibles policy and that if there is a problem, handbags are covered by a 2 year warranty wherein they will repair or replace the bag for any issues with quality or workmanship. I hope that you are able to locate your receipt so that you can send your bag in to Brighton for repair within their warranty specifications.

I know I would never shop at a store with these policies. Thanks for confirming where to avoid spending money.

  • 30 minute connection

I am flying to Dulles, DC (Skywest) from wichita, ks (Expressjet) on March 21. I connect in iah with only 30 minutes. I am not familiar with the iah terminal. Any suggestions?

Both of your flights will probably be in Terminal B so it shouldn't be that difficult of a connection.

We are flying with United from Calgary (YYC) to IAH then Cancun on April 30h. All with United. Our layover is 1h20min. Can we expect to make the connection? Our arriving/departing flight are both in terminal E. I am not sure if we will have to line up to go through customs and collect our baggage before we board our next flight. Thanks

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Calgary. You will not have to collect your baggage until you get to Cancun.

it will be better if you contact with the website of the airlines

  • Can I Expect to make connection ?

We are flying with United from Montreal (YUL) to IAH then Puerto Vallarta on April 5th. All with United. Our layover is 1h10min. Can we expect to make the connection ? Do we have to claim our luggages and go through the security ?

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal. You will just have to get to your gate (likely a connection from Terminal C to Terminal E). You do not have to claim any luggage or go through security again in Houston, just take the Terminalink train between terminals if necessary.

We are flying with United fromToronto to IAH then on to Ixtapa on April 8...all with United. My ticket does not say which terminal yet. Our layover is 37 minutes!! When we will know the terminal and will we be able to get from one to the other in time?

You likely will both arrive and depart from Terminal B as both of those markets are served by United Express from IAH. As such your connection will be an easy one.

thank you for your feedback, much appreciated!

  • UAL 47 from FRA to UAL 1178 in 2.5hrs?

Hi there, I have a checked bag and have to connect from UAL 47 from Frankfurt to UAL 1178 to SFO. Due to delays it appears I have around 2hrs and 45 mins to do this. Not being familiar with this airport and their customs, can I expect to make this connection in the time allowed?

That should be plenty of time.

Hi, I'm flying in UA517 from DC (IAD) and flying out UA819 to Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1) Is 1.20 minutes enough time to connect flights? 2) Do you know which are the gates for those flights? 3) Do i have to go through security at IAH again? Thanks!!!

You won't know the exact gates until the day of your flight but they will be in Terminal C or E which are walkable. You will not have to go through security again in IAH on your way down.

Thank you very much! Yes, I meant 'Terminal' not gate... =)

Hey, only to be sure about the connection time: I arrive at terminal C (LAS-IAH) and depart from terminal D (IAH-FRA, international), connection time is 1.20. I have never been to IAH, so I have no idea how it is like. Is that enough to get the plane? thanks!!

That should be enough time, it's not a difficult connection.

My daughter arrives to IAH at 8:20 am from Dallas on American Airlines at Terminal A and needs to get to group check in at United Airlines Terminal E and fly out at 9:45 she only has a carry on. Is this enough time? Is there a best way to do it?

She can take the Terminalink (inside security) or Intra-Terminal Train (outside security). She has enough time, but only barely.
