I will be arriving at IAH from Santa Ana,CA SNA, at 12:16, United Flight #270 and connect to United Flight 4674 to Grand Rapids, MI at 12:51. Does 35 minutes allow enough time for this??

Yes, but it allows little time for delays. If you have to change terminals the TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Is there a way I could find out the terminals I will be coming in on AND departing from?

UA270 will likely arrive in C and UA4674 will likely depart from B.

    Thanks for your input.

  • International to domestic in 48 min. Will this work? Security twice?
    Jun 24, 2014
We are flying from YYC and landing in IAH at 3:30. We then leave IAH towards BHM at 4:23. I know we must change terminals. Will we have to clear customs and go through security before getting to our connection? If so, we won't have time, I believe. Or, can we get from flight to flight without having to go through customs or security? Thank you!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. Your arrival into IAH will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All terminals at IAH are connected inside security by the TerminaLink train.

Thank you! Is the TerminaLink train the one above ground? I ask because on the way to Calgary, we took the train below ground and it took us out of security (which lead to a needed run through the airport). Thanks!

Yes, the TerminaLink train runs above ground.

Thanks!! You have been quite helpful.

Hi I have booked a flight from SJO Costa rica through CLT on the same reservation,The layover changed and now I have 2 hours to make the connection to charlotte.is that enough time for me?

its a united flight from sjo to iah and united express from iah to clt by the way

Yes, 2 hours should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, and re-check your bags with United, then go to the departure level and through security. Your flight to Charlotte will depart from Terminal C, which is connected directly to E, or Terminal B, which can be reached using the TerminaLink train inside security.

We are flying from YYC to Mexico with an 48 mins layover in IAH. Will we have to go through security/TSA before our second flight?

You do not have to go through Security in IAH. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Calgary. Your arrival in IAH will be like a domestic flight. All terminals at IAH are connected inside security by the TerminaLink train. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

No, you will not have enough time. You need to change your flights.

How do I go about changing my flights?

You need to contact whoever you booked your tickets through (either your travel agent or airline(s))

  • SAN-IAH-SCL 1 hr connect enough?
    Jun 15, 2014
Just booked a trip from SFO to Santiago Chile on United's site. (Using miles to upgrade to business class so stuck with United.) The itinerary has a 1 hour connect time in IAH. I'm concerned this is not enough either for us to walk between or for our checked luggage to be transferred. Not to mention weather delays. If we'd miss our Santiago flight we'd probably lose our business class seats.

  • 1:10 hour connection

I am planning to book my trip from BHM to CAI. the itinerary is as follows: BHM-IAH then IAH-FRA then FRA-CAI. the layover between my first (domestic) and second (international) flights is 70 mins. Is this enough time to transfer from terminal B to C to catch my second flight ?

  • LHR to BJX transfer through IAH
    Jun 19, 2014
Hi I am booked on a United airlines flight from LHR to IAH. I have a connecting flight booked at the same time and through United to BJX with a connecting time of 1hr 5mins. Is this enough time? Do I need to pass through security or do I just transfer to my next gate? Will I need to recheck baggage if I check baggage? And do I need a visa ? As my final destination is not in the US

No, you cannot skip customs. You will have a very tough time making your connection. Lufthansa and JetBlue do have an interline agreement, so you can ask the Lufthansa agent to tag your bag through to ORD and that way you can re-check your bag in T1 and don't have to take it with you to T5. Your connection is possible but leaves little room for delays.

Is there any way not to take my bag att all on JFK Terminal 1 but only to check it in once with Lufthansa and take it straight to ORD? So I can only go through custums and than run to terminal 5? Thanks a lot!

No, you HAVE to claim your bag in T1 in order to go through Customs. If you fail to claim your bag, it will sit in New York for days.

  • United SFO to Munich via IAH; do I have to go thru TSA again?

I have a back injury and carry Gel Ice packs with me which are only allowed in a frozen state. They will be at SFO when I depart but no longer at IAH (enough for me but not for the TSA IF I have to go thru that again in Houston. Tx.
