I will fly from Lima to Houston arriving at 7.10 am. I have to pass immigration and then to connect to a flight to Wash DC at terminal C. My fligjht leaves at 9.05 am. Do I have enought time to connect?. How should I go from Term E to Term C. It will be my first time doing this connection.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Returning from international travel with connecting flight

My wife and I are US citizens flying from Lima, Peru on June 6 with a final destination of Austin, TX. We will have a layover of 1 hr 35 min in IAH. Will this be enough time to pass through customs and make it to our connecting flight?

Yes, that should be enough time as long as your flight from Lima is on-time. If you do miss your connection due to a delay there are many flights from Houston to Austin you can be rebooked on.

    Maybe 10-15 minutes at most.

  • Connection from Canada through the US
    Mar 13, 2015
I am arriving in IAH from Canada with a Connection to Costa Rica i have a 1:56 min layover, will i have to clear customs before my connection to Costa Rica? Or will i be able to just go directly to my gate after deplaning from Canada?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Canada and there is no US Exit customs, so all you have to do is just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Houston. You have plenty of time.

Traveling from ACA to ORD with a 2 hour connection in IAH. Is this enough time to get through immigration and customs? I'm also flying with United Airlines will i have to recheck my bags? Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate which will likely be in Terminal C.

  • Connection time
    Mar 12, 2015
I will be arriving at IAH at 1:10 from Bogota, Colombia and I have a connection flight to LAX at 2:43. am I going to have enough time to make it to flight? Thank you. Both gates are in the same terminal E

That is only 3 minutes more than the minimum recommended connection time. It is possible, but it depends on everything going smoothly. If you do miss your connection, United flies many later flights to LAX that you can be rebooked on.

  • Connection between B to E in 35 mins
    Mar 11, 2015
My wife and I will be travelling to IAH arriving at 8:15 and catching a departing flight to Cozumel at 8:51 - so only 36 mins to get to next gate from B terminal to E terminal - what is the best way to do this, and do you think we will have enough time?

You will have to take the TerminaLink Train. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. You barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thank you - I am hoping we can arrive just a minute early - I have already arranged for first row seats on the flight in to IAH so hopefully that will speed things up.

  • Transfer

I will be arriving from LHR at 14.00 and connecting with united to LAX in september 4th.the flight to LAX is at 17.00 booked on seperate tickets.is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Assuming both flights are on United you can show your second confirmation to the agent in London and they can tag your bag through to LAX. You will still have to claim your bag in Houston to go through US Customs, but that will speed up the process of re-checking it.

Sorry i forgot to say my incoming flight is with BA.

That should still be enough time then. It just means that upon arrival in Terminal D and clearing customs, you will have to take your bags to the United check in counter in Terminal C. Follow signs to the Inter-Terminal Train that will bring you to Terminal C.

  • Houston to Costa Rica and back
    Mar 8, 2015
I'm flying from Orange County CA to Costa Rica, with stops by directions in Houston, all flights on United. I have ~1:10 each time to connect. Going to Costa Rica should be fine, there's no customs to go through. But coming back, how long should I expect to wait for customs in Houston and will I have to claim my bags and take them through customs before boarding from Houston to Orange County? just over an hour seems like too little time to claim bags and go through customs.

On your return flight 70 minutes is insufficient. You need to contact United or your travel agent to be rebooked.

  • International Flight Outbound Connection - Need to recheck baggage?
    Mar 8, 2015
My mother is Flying from Raleigh,NC to Bogota, Colombia making one stop in Houston. I know she will check bags in RDU but not sure if she needs to recheck them in IAH?. If so, how? also what terminals will she need to walk from and to?

She will not need to do anything with her bags in Houston on her way to Bogota. She will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from E. C is directly connected to E and B is connected to E inside security by the TerminaLink Train.

    Great! Thanks

  • FLIGHT connection - CUSTOMS - Enough time????!?
    Mar 8, 2015
I am an EU citizen and I fly from Jackson JAN to Montreal YUL with TWO stopovers: first Houston IAH (55 minutes) and next Toronto YYZ (95 minutes) ---> My question is: where will I go through customs? Is this in Jackson or Houston: if this is in Houston will 55 minutes be enough???!?

You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs in Toronto. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all Terminals inside security.

  • International flight connection
    Mar 8, 2015
I am fying from DC to Honduras via Houston, I have 45 minutes to get to Terminal E, will I make it on time? Do I have to take a train to go terminal E?

The first flight will probably arrive in Terminal C, which is directly connected to Terminal E. You should have barely enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Connection between Domestic Gates to International Gates
    Mar 7, 2015
Only have 35 minutes between United Flights from Tulsa to Houston leaving for San Jose del Cabo. Is that enough time to get to terminal D or E from B or C

You will depart from Terminal E. That is barely enough time for the transfer if your flight from Tulsa is on-time.

  • Terminal A to Terminal C
    Mar 6, 2015
We arrive at Terminal A at 3:50PM and depart from Terminal C at 4:40PM. What is the easiest way to get from one to the other and is 1 hour enough time?

Assuming both tickets were purchased together, you just take the TerminaLink Train. It connects all terminals inside security. You should have plenty of time.

  • 1.10 layover from AMS to MCO via IAH
    Mar 5, 2015
Hi, I have a flight booked from AMS to MCO (LH7987 operated by United) on May 1. ETA on IAH is14:45 at terminal E, connecting flight (U1644) depatures at 15:55 from terminal C. So a layover of 1.10 with 2 kids. Is that layover realistic, dealing with migration, bagage claim and transfer, transfer to gate , getting out of the plan etc? Thanks!

No, that is not realistic. You need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little longer, to make that connection.
