  • Is 1 hour and 20 minutes enough time to go domestic to international?
    Mar 30, 2014
I will be traveling from Colorado to IAH to catch my International connection. I will be arriving in Terminal B and have only 1 hour and 20 mins to get to my gate in Terminal E. Is this enough time? and since i will be getting all my boarding passes in colorado, will i still need to check in when i arrive there? and also will i have to go thru all the TSA security again? As this usually takes lots of time. Thank you for you help as i have never flown thru IAH and am nervous with such a short layover.

No, all you have to do in IAH is go from your arrival gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

Thank you, Im glad that i can go from one terminal to next without security. Oh sorry one more question, since i will already be inside then i wont have to re check-in correct? I should be able to just go to my next gate in terminal E with the boarding passes i have? thanks again

Correct, you won't have to check-in again.

Thank you! Can't wait for my trip now.

  • transit in terminal E

My flight UA 059 arrives from Amsterdam at terminal E and my connecting flight UA 1565 to Costa Rica leaves from terminal E. Do I have to go through Immigration/Customs

Yes, you do. There are no "sterile" international->international connections at any U.S. airport.

thanks for your reply, I presume that my luggage can be labeled through so that I do not have to transfer my luggage myself

Even though your bags will be tagged through, you will have to claim them after clearing immigration, then go through customs, then re-check them with United at the re-check desk.

  • Terminal A - Terminal D
    Mar 28, 2014
Hi, my flight arrives to Terminal D and I have 1hr 40mins to transfer to Terminal A. Will this be enough time? Thanks

What airlines are you flying? If you are arriving into Terminal D that means you're on an international flight, correct? I need more information.

  • Worried about layover
    Mar 28, 2014
We are flying from KC to Costa Rica. Our stop is in IAH with a layover of only 50 minutes. Will we have enough time to get to our flight? Will we have to recheck our bags?

Yes, if your flight is on-time that should be enough time. You won't have to do anything with your bags in Houston on the way to Costa Rica.

Thank you! one more question, both our flights are united so will we have to go through security again since it is an international flight?

No, you will not have to go through security. All gates at IAH are connected inside security.

    Mar 25, 2014
Hi im going from Bogota. Colombia to Tokyo by Houston, I have an American Visa, but I dont know if I have to do Inmigration to take the connecting Flight, I have 3 hours to get the flight to Tokyo, that will be enough? The teo flights are with United, thanks

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration. 3 hours should be plenty of time.

  • Transfer from terminal A to B with luggage to meet others

Need to get elderly father in law from terminal A to B with luggage to meet family. What is the easiest method?

The Inter-Terminal Train connects all terminals outside security.

Flying United CZM to IAH & onto LAX. Have Precheck. How do I get from Customs/Immigration at IAH to Precheck Security at gate C?

  • Plane change on way to Mexico
    Mar 20, 2014
We are flying from Chicago to Merida Mexico with a plane change at IAH. Were told by United that we will arrive in C and have to go to E. Told we will already be checked in internationally in chicago and will not have to go through any security in Houston. Is this correct? We only have and hour and 20 min.

Yes, that is correct, all you will have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which are connected inside security. If your first flight is on-time you should have plenty of time.

  • Gates in Terminal B
    Mar 18, 2014
My flight arrives at Gate B24 and departs from Gate B85. On the Terminal map I do not see Gate B24. Am I not seeing it?

Use the new map provided by United. http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/Travel/airport/maps/iah.aspx

  • Help with Timining Question
    Mar 20, 2014
Can my mother leave terminal E at 9:05 pm and board her 9:30 pm flight in terminal B?

Since you're saying it's arriving in Terminal E, does that mean it's an international flight? If so, no way. If it is one of the few domestic flights arriving in E, then it would be very difficult but possible. Either way it's not an allowable connection by United.

It is complicated. My daughter flew alone to Houston and met my mom. They flew elsewhere together. They end up back at Houston for separate flights w one leaving from terminal e at 9 and one leaving from terminal b at 9:30

OK, in that instance, she can leave Terminal E when the other one boards, so she'll have more than 25 minutes. However, it will take about 15-20 minutes to get from E to B so she should have that in mind.

  • Question
    Mar 13, 2014
I am traveling from Dubai with Emirates to Canada through Houston, I am not holding an American nor Canadian passport, I have around 2 hours between flights, will this be enough to clear immigration, get my luggage and recheck it with and catch my flight with United to Canada? Thanks

It should be enough time but doesn't leave much time for delays. If you have to transfer bags yourself you may have trouble meeting the baggage cutoff with United if there are long lines at immigration.

  • Vcr Canada to IAH then Ft. Lauderdale-do I need to change terminals
    Mar 10, 2014
We're flying in with United from Vancouver Canada next month. Arrive at 12.25 PM, connecting flight to Ft. Lauderdale at 2.11 PM. What terminal do we arrive in and connect to? Do we have to claim luggage and go to another terminal or will our luggage be transferred by the airline? Ticket was purchased as one reservation. Will we be rushing to make the connection?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You won't have to claim your luggage in Houston, it will be transferred automatically. Both of your flights will likely be in Terminal C. There's a chance one may be in Terminal E, but it's connected directly to C. You should have plenty of time to make your transfer.

    thank you!

Hi, I'm arriving from Toronto to Houston with UA. Then I'm taking the flight IHA-VSA. I would be arriving to Terminal B and departing from E. My first question is how probable is that the flight from Toronto with UA will be on time and whether 57 minutes is enough time for the transfer? There's only one IAH-VSA flight per day.

There's about a 60 or 70% chance that your flight to Houston will be on-time. Houston is one of United's more on-time hubs. If it is on-time or close to it, 57 minutes is enough time for your connection, but if you're worried you might want to take an earlier flight from Toronto if one's available.

Thank you for your response. Arriving to Houston from Toronto, I'm assuming I'll go through US customs and security in Toronto. Would I have to go through customs again in Houston? Thanks again.

No, once you clear customs in Toronto it's like you're already in the US.

  • Transit Visa
    Mar 18, 2014
We are flying from London Heathrow to Houston before taking a connecting flight to Cancun. Do we need a transit visa for this? Thanks.

Are you a UK Citizen? The US doesn't require visas for UK citizens for stays shorter than 90 days.

    Yes, thanks.

You will need an ESTA. Google it. Apply on line. Cost is $14.

  • Change terminals
    Mar 5, 2014
Flying from Boston to Houston on United, change planes in Houston for Guadalajara to ExpressJet Arilines doing business as United Express. Which terminal will I land, and which terminal will I depart?

You will likely arrive in Terminal C (possibly E) and you will depart from Terminal B. The TerminaLink Train connects all Terminals inside security.
