  • Connecting from international to regional/domestic flight

I will be coming in from an international flight, landing in Terminal D at IAH. I need to then proceed to the domestic/regional terminal (Terminal B?)in order to catch a flight to Little Rock. These flights are not under the same reservation as I purchased them separately. Is it possible to check-in for the Little Rock flight at Terminal D, after customs? Or must I collect my luggage and proceed to Terminal B and check-in at the Terminal B check-in counter? Thanks in advance.

No, You must collect your baggage and take it to a United Check-In counter. since you are departing Terminal B, it would be best to take the Inter-Terminal Train to Terminal B and use the check-in counter there. Note that you will also have to pay a checked bag fee. You could check in and pay for your bags online before you leave on your first flight saving you a little time in Houston.

I am flying Wednesday from Tulsa (UAL) to Beijing (Air China). I have two large checked bags. Do I need to claim these and recheck? How can I get with my bags to Terminal D?

If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation all you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Really? That would be great - when I've flown out of LAX I always had to recheck because of changing airlines.

I have a connecting flight thorugh Houston from Brazil to Canada, I need wheelchair assistance between terminals, I arrive at Terminal E and depart from Termnal A. Do I have to go through security again and will I have time? I'm not a seasoned traveller so am more than a bit nervous.

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal A, but the Wheelchair assistance person will bring you to the front of the line. I don't know if you have time because you didn't post how much time you have.

coming into terminal c from EWR and have to go to terminal E for Cancun. Do I have to re check bags and go through security. Are terminal far from each other

No, there is no US Customs when leaving the US. C and E are connected to each other. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I have connecting flight layover of 45 minutes in IAH. Most probably arriving flight UA4990 (From CVG) will come on B81 and UA401 will come on C45. Will 45 minutes be enough for walk from B81 to C45 and catch the flight UA401 to SFO.

You can't walk from B to C. you have to take the TerminaLink train, but yes, 45 minutes should be barely enough time.

Hi my family and I have a flight tomorrow 16th July from SFOat 6.01am lands Houston 12.01pm then connecting flight to George Town at 1.04pm, will this give us enough time to catch our connecting flight?

That should be enough time. You should be able to just walk between gates.

    Thank you!

  • MUC-IAH-YVR: Is transit time in Houston of 1.45h sufficient?

Hi, we are travelling (with checked-in luggage) from Munich (Germany) to Houston with Air Canada carried out by United and have 1h45min stop until our next flight with Air Canada to Vancouver (Canada) which is our final destination. Is this enough time for the transit? Do we need as Germans a Visa for the transit? Will we need to re-check-in our luggage and go through Security? Many thanks in advance!

German citizens do not need a Visa to visit or transit the United States, however, you do need to complete ESTA. Since you are on an International to International connection through Houston on United you should not have to claim and re-check your bags, however, you will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You should have enough time if everything goes smoothly.

United flight arrive at 05:20 at terminal E and united flight to Chicago leaves at 7:15 from terminal C. Will this be enough time to clear immigration, claim baggage and rechecking them??

Yes, that should be enough time.

MIA > IAH arrival time at 5:05pm Layover in IAH for 40 minutes IAH > YVR departure time at 5:45pm Will this be enough time for the connection? How far will we have to travel between gates?

That's enough time if your first flight is on-time. All gates in IAH are connected inside security. Both flights will probably be in Terminal C.

Hi- I am arriving into IAH next week from EWR and have 45 mins before a connection onto Santiago. I just wondered how achievable this is?

It's definitely possible if your flight from Newark is on-time. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. However, if you can change your flight or stand by for an earlier flight out of Newark that would not be a bad idea at all.

Do I have to clear customs during this time? Do you know if the gates are in the same terminal or likely to be a long walk? Thanks so much for responding!

you do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. You will likely arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E.

  • 1hr 45 min connection time from Jamaica -Houston-LAX

Hi, I just started reading about the long immigration wait times at Houston International... I am flying in from Jamaica to Houston and have a 1 hr 45min time in between. Is this doable? Will united help me get on another flight if we miss due to immigration? We arrive in Houston at 5:12PM don't know if that is a busy time on a Thursday. I was trying to see if maybe I can squeeze everything into a carry on so I can skip of the long lines if this is a short connection time. Thank You!

Houston does not usually experience inordinarily long immigration wait times. Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, if you miss your connection due to immigration delays they will book you on the next available flight. Bringing only a carry-on never hurts.

Arriving IAH terminal E from Queretaro at 1343, do we have enough time to make our IAH/LAX flight ETD 1538 at terminal C? Is there a luggage drop off right after immigration?

Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, you can re-check your luggage right after customs.
