looking at a flight from seattle to houston, the connection is 42 minutes, united is airline, is that enough time??

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. It obviously doesn't leave much time to spare if the first flight is delayed.

I am a Brazilian tourist flying from Rio (GIG) to Chicago ORD connecting in Houston IAH at 07:15 departing at 09:57 on a Saturday. Is that enough time to clear customs?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

we are flying from Toronto to Quito. Air Canada via Houston connecting to United is 2hr 40 minutes enough time. We clear customs in Toronto.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Houston on your way to Quito is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skyway connects all terminals inside security.

  • Can I get from terminal C to terminal E in 45 minutes

Hi, camp leaders have booked my return flight. It is a interconnecting flight to Houston terminal C. I have to get to terminal E in 45 minutes before my flight departs to England. Is it possible to get from terminal C to terminal E to make my flight home. Also my suitcase does that automatically get transferred to the flight home and do I have to go through border security or not. This is my first time doing interconnecting flights. Any advice would be great. Thank You

I forgot to mention that I am flying from Orlando to Houston. Then Houston to London.

That is possible. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Immigration when leaving the US. It obviously leaves very little time to spare if the flight from Orlando is delayed.

  • Arriving from SFO; departing for Lima, Peru: Dec. 6, 2016

I am arriving on UAL Flt.1958 from SFO at 3:04 pm. UAL Flt 854 leaves at 4 pm. Will I make it? This schedule change just happened today.

It's possible, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Even if the 2nd flight is international, to LIMA. First flight arrives from San Francisco.

And on the return, arriving UA from BOGOTA at 1:10 and connecting to LAX at 2:45 on UA (same reservation), will I make it even with customs? I will have secured my GOES authorization.

Thanks so much for knowing so much!! I do obsess about this stuff.

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. On your return you have just enough time, having Global Entry helps.

  • Finding Terminalink in Terminal B
    Aug 9, 2016

OK - I am ignorant. I've only flown IAH once and from Terminal B I can't remember how to get to the Terminalink to go to Terminal C. I remember escalators but nothing from there.

It's really well marked, just go towards the center of B and then follow the signs that say C and the other terminals. It's called the Skyway now, not the Terminalink - they just changed the name.

Thanks. I have no sense of direction and I have to have some idea of where I am going when I travel. Just up the escalator and then to the back of Terminal B - right? Appreciate your help.

Hi,i'm traveling from Costa Rica (SJO) to Orlando (MCO) with connection in Houston (IAH), arriving to Houston at 17.50 and departing to Orlando at 19.10 The connection time is 1 hour 20 minutes in Houston. It's enough time to take flight to Orlando? Thanks!!

That's below the recommended International to Domestic connection time at Houston. This is a very difficult connection, bordering on impossible if you have checked bags.

We're 4 adults 2 kids and a baby, and yes 3 checked bags and a stroller. Due the hour we're arriving to IAH do you think that it's not possible to take our flight to Orlando (both flightsare from UA) Thanks again

Yes, with all that stuff I don't think there's any reasonable chance you can make that connection.

  • Domestic to Int - time recomms?

Hi, I am flying out of Houston (IAH) to Auckland NZ at 9.30pm. But ideally I will be first flying into Houston from New Orleans on the same day to avoid an overnight stay. Options are to arrive at 2pm, 4.30pm or 6pm. How many hours do I need to allow in order to transfer from my domestic New Orleans flight to my international Auckland flight? Thanks

Any of them would work, even on two separate reservations.

Thanks ZAP. Yes it's two separate reservations and airlines: United (New Orleans to Houston) & Air New Zealand (to Auckland). Will the 6pm arrival still allow enough time with checking in, clearing customs and security etc ?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • 20 hour layover: leaving the airport with suitcase possible?
    Aug 7, 2016

Hi! I'll fly from Panama to Amsterdam with a 20 hr connection in Houston. I'll arrive in Houston on the 21th and will fly out on the 22nd. I'm going to couchsurf in between in Houston. Question: what has to happen with my checked in luggage? After going through immigration: will I have to check it in right away again for the connection flight the next day, or will I be able to take it with me and check it in the next day when I'm coming back? Thanks for your help!

No, in fact due to the length of your layover you won't be allowed to re-check it immediately after you clear customs.

  • 1 Hour 15 min connection

Hi i arrive in IAH from Liberia (Costa Rica) and i have 1 h and 15 min to catch the connection for Frankfurt. All flights with United. Do i have enough time or i need to claim my luggage and security controls again? Thanks

You need to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You don't have to claim your bags because you are on an international to international connection on United through Houston. Still, that's a nearly impossible connection.

Hi: I have 2 hrs connection. I will be arriving on a United flight at 10.34 am from Merida Yucatan and departing to Jacksonville FL on a United Flight also, but at 12:50 pm. This flight is arriving from Mexico, so I have to pass the Inmigration check, it will be enough time to catch my other flight with no delate ???

    That should be enough time.

  • 1:20 layover in Houston from Mexiko to Germany

I will be traveling from Guadalajara / Mexiko to Houston with United Airlines and have 1:20 hour to change to my flight to Frankfurt / Germany. The flight to Frankfurt has an United Airlines number, but will be operated by Lufthansa. Do I need to take my laguage and will 1:20min enough to catch my flight to Frankfurt? Thank you!

Yes, I believe you will have to claim and re-check your baggage after going through US Immigration and then go through security. This is a very difficult connection, bordering on impossible.

  • Layover time with immigration

I am flying from Port of Spain, Trinidad (POS) to San Francisco (SFO) with a layover in Houston (IAH). I have one option with 1.5 hrs layover and another with 3 hours layover. As IAH is my first point of entry to US, I have to clear immigration and customs in IAH. Is 1.5 hours enough, or should I book the 3 hour layover flight? All flights with United.

1.5 hours is legal, but personally, I would book the 3 hours.

I have a 38 min connection. I will be arriving on a United flight from Gulfport, Mississippi and departing on a United flight to Calgary, Alberta. Will I make it?

Yes, that is enough time. Obviously it doesn't leave much time to spare if the flight from Gulfport is delayed. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

Thanks so much for your response!

Hi - I am flying from ATL to Belize (BZE) via IAH on a single United reservation. The connecting time is 1 hour and United website indicated a Terminal change for this flight. Is 1 hour enough? I have 2 checked bags.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.
