  • 35 minute layover
    Jun 25, 2016
We will be landing from San Antonio Airport into Houston and have only a 35 minute layover to catch a plane to Cozumel. Will this be enough time to make the flight?

Yes, it is possible but it leaves no time to spare if the flight from San Antonio is late. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 1 hour 20 minutes for connection
    Jun 25, 2016
We are flying from Grand Cayman through IAH then on to Portland. Is an hour and 20 minutes long enough to go through customs and catch our flight to PDX? I'm nervous...

That is below the minimum International to Domestic connection time in Houston. It might be possible with no checked bags. Probably not possible with checked bags.

Ugh..... I asked my travel agent and she assured me that it was enough time. I guess we will see tonight. I'm pretty nervous about it though. Thanks ZAP! Do you have any recommendations for us to speed up the process?

Not much you can do. Maybe look at the schedule and see if there's a way they can rebook you to Portland through San Francisco or Denver if there is no later Nonstop flight to Portland.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, ZAP! Our arriving flight got in 30 minutes early so we were able to make the connection. It would've been really close if we hadn't been early!

  • Terminal C to B
    Jun 22, 2016
Let me preface by saying I haven't flown in 20+ years. I have a 40 "layover" in Houston. My first flight will arrive in Terminal C, and my connecting flight departs from Terminal B. What's the quickest/easiest way to get from C to B, and is 40 minutes enough time, assuming the first flight is on time? Thank you for your time.

Type-O. it should say 40 minute "layover"...

Terminals B and C are connected inside security by the Skyway train. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • Connection time

Hi we are flying from LHR into IAH then onto MCO all with United. They have given us 2hrs 5mins (which we will have to clear immigration, collect bags, security, customs and return bags). I feel very nervous about this we are a family of 5. Do you think we will be ok?

That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

my son will be traveling from New Zealand tomorrow arriving at IAH at 12:45 PM. His flight to Orlando leaves at 2:30pm. He is a US citizen. Will he make it and what does he have to do in terms of re-checking baggage? Thank you.

I should mention that he is traveling on one ticket so he should not have to go back to the check-in counter with the specs as they are checked through to his final destination. Thank you.

He will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim his bag, go through US Customs, re-check his bag at the re-check desk right after, then go through security and to his departure gate in Terminal C. He has just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    thank you

  • International connection to domestic time required
    Jun 21, 2016
Arriving Air New Zealand at 1:40. Flight out at 5:00 on American. Is that enough time to clear customs with Global Entry and use TSA Precheck to get back through security. Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Yes, that should be enough time even though that is a very busy day.

  • Do I have enough time
    Jun 21, 2016
My flight arrives from Istanbul at 7:05pm and I have to catch a domestic flight that departs at 9:50pm - Do I have enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Layover time - SEA-IAH, then IAH-Moscow
    Jun 21, 2016
I am flying from Seattle to Moscow by singapore airlines and make connection at IAH. I've got only about an hour between two flights. I was told that I would have to collect my checked bags at IAH and then go through the customs/security again. Is 1 hour enough for the connection?

That is incorrect. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. If your bags are tagged through to Moscow then you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

ZAP, thanks for your response. When I spoke with singapore airline representative and she said I would have to pick up my bags and go through security again. You think this is incorrect?

If you are purchasing two separate reservations, it is correct. If everything is on the same reservation, it is not correct. Either way, there is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • SEA > IAH > CUN connect time
    Jun 21, 2016
Is 1 hour 20 enough time to connect from United domestic flight (Seattle to IAH) to United international flight (IAH to Cancun)?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Clearing Customs
    Jun 20, 2016
My flight from Moscow arrives at 2:05pm at IAH... can I book an outgoing flight to PIT with departure time of 3:50?

On two separate reservations, that's a little tighter than I'd want. It might be possible with no checked baggage.

  • Big group - short layover
    Jun 21, 2016
We have 49 travelers in our group. Flight is from San Jose to IAH then to MSP. Layover is 1 hr 25 minutes - we all only have carry ons. Is that enough time to get through immigration and customs?

I assume you mean San Jose, Costa Rica? No, that is not enough time for an International to Domestic connection at IAH. Prepare your group to be stuck in Houston for some time. Your travel agent should not have booked this.

We actually did make it thanks to our amazing travel agents!

    Good, sometimes things work out!

  • From Calgary to Miami with 55 mins connecting time
    Jun 18, 2016
We will fly from Calgary to IAH and then Miami with only 55 mins layover in IH. Would that be enough to get thru custom, pick up baggage, recheck baggage and everything?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal C. You don't have to do anything with your bags. You have enough time.

  • 2:10 layover from international with carry on
    Jun 17, 2016
Hi. I have a 2:10 layover in Houston, flying Luthansa from Frankfurt to Houston and then flying United to LA. I (should) only have carry ons. Do you think that's enough time to get through immigration, customs and back through security?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Layover
    Jun 16, 2016
Flying United - coming from Iowa and have a 40 to 50 minute layover. Flying on to Belize with United and don't know where that plane leaves from - it that enough time to get to the departure terminal if it is clear at the other end.

Your flight from Des Moines will arrive in Terminal B and your flight to Belize will depart from Terminal E. They are connected inside security by the Skyway train. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • Service dog and terminal change time allotment
    Jun 16, 2016
I am traveling with my service dog from Jax to IAH and then with a 1 hour 23 min layover before going toMexico. I have a global entry card and only 1 carry on. Can I do the transfer with time to toilet the dog, or should I find a longer connection. I am mobility challenged and will use United air services to change terminals.

That should be plenty of time.

I think I will have to go back thru security check point after going to dog relief area. Is there a relief area close to the international terminal side?
