  • 3h30 connecting IAH international arrival to CHS domestic
    Mar 25, 2016
We will fly United flight from SGN Vietnam to IAH (UA 7936) then have 3h30m connecting time to United flight to CHS, Charleston, SC (UA 5461) Will 3h30m be enough to check and re-check luggage as Im travelling with a 76-year old grandma and 2 children 13 and 14 years old? I have been informed that we arrive at terminal E. Which terminal is it for the flight to CHS? How long will it take to get there from TE? Thanks ahead

Note that UA 7936 is actually operated by ANA. You will arrive in Terminal D. The flight to CHS will likely depart from Terminal B. You should have enough time. Once you clear customs and re-check your bags you go through security and take the Skyway train to Terminal B.

  • 1h55 time for connecting flight to Quito from Dubai
    Mar 25, 2016
Hi, I'm flying from Dubai to Houston (Emirates) and then on to Quito Ecuador (United) with 1h55 mins at Houston to make the connection. Is it enough time?

If your tickets are on two separate reservations that will be very difficult if not impossible unless your Emirates flight arrives quite early.

United told us that Emirates can send the baggage direct to Quito (no need to pick it up in Houston) and we'll be given boarding passes too. Although the tickets are in different reservations. Thanks

    Yeah, that's most likely untrue.

  • domestic to international

Hi, I'm traveling from SEA to IAH on Alaska Airlines arriving at 5am, then leaving at 6:40am on Interjet to Mexico City. Will 1 hour and 45 minutes be enough time? Thank you for your help!

I should add that tickets will be bought separately.

With checked bags it will be very difficult for you to make it to the Interjet check-in desk to check your bags in time.

  • 48 minute connection
    Mar 24, 2016
Hello I was wondering if a 48 min connection is good enough I'll be flying from New Orleans to Houston to LA. Please let me know if 48 mins is enough time to connect. Flights are all booked on United together.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Domestic to international

Hey, I'm taking a domestic flight (New Orleans to Houston) that arrives at 11:10 am, and I'm then flying internationally (Houston to Mexico) on a flight that leaves at 12:57 pm. I am not checking baggage. Is this enough time? Thank you!

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

  • Connecting flights and TSA check
    Mar 24, 2016
I am flying from Minneapolis to Auckland via Houston. The flight from MSP to IAH is United and the flight from IAH to Auckland is Air New Zealand. I have a 2 hr 20 min layover in Houston. Do I have to go through the TSA check again in Houston?

No, you do not have to go through security in Houston. You just have to go from your arrival gate in Terminal B or C to your departure gate in Terminal D. If you arrive in B you can take the Skyway train inside security to D.

Can't understand the logic of one train in operation at night at a major airport.

On which train? The Skyway or the Subway?

Hello, I'm changing flights at Houston, and I have to change terminals, E to C, is 1hr40mins enough time to get my connecting flight?

Where are you flying to Houston from?

I'm flying from London Heathrow to Houston and then on to Guatemala city with 1hr40mins at Houston change

Both flights will be in E. You barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security but should have have to claim your bags if both flights are on United since you are on an International to International connection.

So would you recommend it or not? I'm being offered this in my itinerary as my route when I buy a ticket with Travel up.

    I would recommend more time.

Yes, I heard from Houston airport that I needed at least 3 hours to transfer. But I have booked the ticket already. So I contacted United airlines (both flights in the jouney are managed by United airlines), they told me I need no more than 50 minutes to make the connection and they wouldnt change my flight details for me. Also, that this is a flight connection that happens successfully and daily, so I am going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best! Also, do I need to apply for a visa whilst I am in the airport? I do not need one for my end destination Guatemala. Thank you.

  • Arr BA depart AA
    Mar 21, 2016
I will be arriving at 18:35 from LHR on BA and departing on separate ticked for Dallas on AA at 20:09. Using Global Entry, will this be enough time to make the connection?

Without checked bags this might be possible. With checked bags there's no way you'd make it to the AA Check in desk in Terminal A in time.

  • Connection International to Domestic
    Mar 24, 2016
I am flying on SQ from Singapore to Houston via Moscow, and then making a connecting flight from Houston to New York on United. Is 2hrs sufficient for me to go through US Immigration, customs and security and make my connecting flight?

If both tickets are on the same reservation that's just enough time.

My flight to NY is separately booked, and not on the same reservation. Any issue there? Thanks!

Then yes, that makes it much harder, I'd want more time.

  • Arriving into IAH with BA at 3pm
    Mar 24, 2016
We would like to travel onto miami the same day. Which terminal do we land into IAH with BA and how long would you recommend between flights - there are some with AA and some with United. Also which terminals are they in please?

The British Airways flight will arrive into Terminal D. AA departs from Terminal A and the United flight would depart from Terminal B or C. I wouldn't recommend booking anything before 6 PM because it's two separate reservations. All terminals are connected outside security by the Subway train.

Thank you - is it easy to book flights when we get there or should we buy a flexible one?

Flights from Houston to Miami will be very expensive on the day of departure.

  • Connecting flight Canada Mex
    Mar 24, 2016
Hi i will be arriving in IAH from Canada on a west jet flight (already cleared US Customs in Canada) and getting a connection to Mexico on United. How do i get my bags and check them in again, can i do this at the united counter inside the terminal?

Yes, you can use any United check-in counter to re-check your bags, although you may want to take the subway train to your departure terminal first and use the United counter in that terminal (United mainline flights to Mexico depart from Terminal E and United Express flights to Mexico depart from Terminal B).

Thank you, after we pick up our luggage do we need to go through security again?

    Yes, you will

  • London to Miami on American Airlines
    Mar 20, 2016
Hello. I am on AA flight from london arriving Houston, Terminal E at 3.35pm. We depart on AA from terminal A at 5.27 pm. If we check our bags through to miami at Heathrow, do we need to collect and re-check bags at Houston. If yes, can we re-check just past customs and take the secure TerminalLink?

AA does not fly from London to Houston - please double check your itinerary. Yes, you will have to claim and re-check your bags in Houston.

Hi. I'm on the same flight. It's AA operated by British Airways. Is the re-check immediately after customs? Does the 1hr 50 sound enough time to clear immigration etc? Thanks

Yes, the re-check is right after customs. Yes, it is barely enough time.

  • International to Domestic
    Mar 19, 2016
I am planning to fly to Auckland (Air New Zealand) > Houston > New York (United Airlines). My itinerary has 3 hours of transit/layover time between arriving in Houston and departing for New York. Is this enough time to clear immigration (on a new immigrant visa), customs, commute to another terminal and re-check in baggage?

Yes, that should be enough time. If your bags are tagged through to New York then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk just after clearing customs.

    Great, thanks.
