I arrive from london in terminal C and leave to Phoenix 1 hour 50 minutes later from terminal E(afternoon). Both flights are United Airlines. Is that enough time ?

You have the terminals reversed, you arrive in E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate in C. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • 55 min layover PHX - IAH - FRA

I have 55 min between the arrival of my United flight to get to Terminal D. Any idea on what Terminal I will arrive in? I want to be as efficient as possible.

What airline are you leaving from Terminal D? Where are you flying from & To? 55min is tight, but I think it is Doable. You should arrive in C,D if it is United or A,B,C,D,E if you are United Express.

Thanks for the quick reply. We leave PHX to IAH on United. We depart from Terminal D on a United flight to FRA, operated by Lufthansa.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate in C to your departure gate in D. You have enough time.

Ok awesome. Thanks for your help.

I arrive from New Zealand at 12:30pm and fly out to NY at 2.13pm will that be enough time to clear customs, pickup bag and not miss flight?

That is barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Flying from Orlando (MCO) via United on 1st october arrive at Houston at 19.53. Next flight is with Air new Zealand at 21.25. Is this enough time to make connection?

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I'll be travelling with my daughter on July 14. Departure is from Quito and final destination is Toronto. We have a 1h50 layover in Houston. We have to cross the US immigration and go from terminal E to A. Do I have enough time?

It's not impossible but it's quite difficult unless the flight from Quito arrives early.

Thanks for your answer. One last question, Do I have to go get my bags and re-check them?

If both flights were on United then you wouldn't, I'm not sure about you considering your second flight appears to be operated by Air Canada. Unfortunately you won't get a straight or informed answer from either United or Air Canada about this subject either.

  • Changing Terminals Enough Time?

I have a 1hr 15min layover pretty much both ways. (CLT - IAH - SEA & SEA - IAH - SEA) I have to go from United express to United. I have to change terminals. Will an 1hr 15min be enough time? I have 5 people as well traveling with me. Will I have to go through security again? Please & Thanks!

Yes, that is enough time. No you won't have to go through security again. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

Hello, I don't fly often and am getting worried about my current flight itinerary. I am arriving at IAH from Newark at 9:13 AM and have a connected flight to San Jose, Costa Rica at 10:20 AM. Is this enough time with just a carry on? Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you so much ZAP for your answer, I really appreciate it!

I am travelling from GDL Mexico to Philadelphia on 13th July. Layover is 1hr 41 minutes at IAH. I am told that arrival is at terminal E and departure from terminal D. Would I have to collect and re-check in my baggage? In either situations, would I have enough time to board the flight to PHL?

You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Your flight to PHL will depart from C, not D. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

thank you very much. The terminal information was provided by United call centre

Call centre people are probably the worst to ask about things like that. Most of them have never even traveled the airline they "work" for.

    :-)

  • 1.5 hour layover at IAH, Panama City (Panama) to STL
    Jul 4, 2016

Hi, I have a 1.5 hour layover in IAH travelling home to STL from Panama City, Panama. I'm trying to make the last flight of the night, so there were no later options. I have Global Entry, and I will have two checked bags. Layover is 7:45-9:10 PM on a Monday. Any changes I will make my flight? I also bought traveller's insurance - would united put me up in a hotel if I miss the last flight of the day?

WIth Global Entry and an evening arrival you have a chance if the flight from Panama is on-time. United will only pay for a hotel if the flight from Panama is delayed due to a mechanical problem.

we are canadians flying from detroit michigan to houston to rio brasil we have 1hr and 56 min to connect in Houston, We do not have to get our bags correct? Or customs as we go through that in detroit correct?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through entry procedures when you cross into Detroit at the bridge or tunnel. You will go through Brazilian immigration and customs when you get to Rio. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal B you can take the Skyway train to Terminal E where you depart inside security. You have plenty of time.

  • Cancun - Quito (connection via IAH)

I was flying United #1035 from CancĂșn and asked to have my luggage checked all the way to Quito, which they confirmed at the counter. However once we landed in IAH they said all passengers with connecting flights had to go thru immigration, pick up luggage and re-check it again. Waited almost an hour at carrousel for luggage to come out but didn't. Finally someone from United appeared and told me I should have gone thru to check in without waiting for my luggage since it should have been placed in my connecting flight automatically. All that of course took longer than the 1:25 I had between flights and they made me miss my flight. What recourse do I have against United? even if they get me on another flight, they made me miss MY flight and all the delay will bring me further complications. Who will compensate me for it?

You don't have any recourse. The employee who told you that in Cancun isn't even a United employee. They may give you a small voucher but they won't give you cash. If you would have researched this BEFORE your flight you would know that on International to International connections through Houston, your bags are sent directly to your next flight and you just have to go through Immigration, customs, and security.

  • Layover concern

If I am flying from YEG to IAH (flying United), what terminal will I land in? Also, I have a 1 hour layover, will that be enough time to reach my gate to Orlando? (also United)

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton. You will both arrive and depart from Terminal C. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • Time to go through customs?

Hi! Looking at booking flights to Cozumel through United. The cheapest flights give us 1 hour and 36 minutes to get through customs and on to the next plane. What is a general time frame we should expect to get through customs mid afternoon on a Tuesday or Wednesday in late July?

There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US - or are you talking about the return flight? On your way to Cozumel you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Yes, I meant on the return flight :)

OK, on the return flight that gives you just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

My niece is flying in from Tokyo on NH174 arriving at 9:30am. her flight to Tampa is at 1pm, however her ticket has 2 different locators, one for Tokyo trip and another from IAH to TPA, we are trying to get her luggage check in all the way through TPA since the airlines are all part of star alliance. However if they don't allow this, is there a United counter in the same area as the recheck baggage counger, where she can then check in for her TPA flight or does she have to tag her luggage out of the terminal and go to terminal C to check in her last leg flight?

If her bags are not tagged through to TPA she will have to take her bags to the United check-in counter in Terminal C. She has enough time.

Hi - I arrive at IAH at 8:17pm from DCA and my connecting flight is an international Air NZ flight to Auckland leaving at 10:25pm - is this enough time to make the connection and do security etc? Thanks!

You don't have to go through security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time if your flight from DCA is on-time.

    Ok thanks so much.
