I was flying United #1035 from CancÃºn and asked to have my luggage checked all the way to Quito, which they confirmed at the counter. However once we landed in IAH they said all passengers with connecting flights had to go thru immigration, pick up luggage and re-check it again. Waited almost an hour at carrousel for luggage to come out but didn't. Finally someone from United appeared and told me I should have gone thru to check in without waiting for my luggage since it should have been placed in my connecting flight automatically. All that of course took longer than the 1:25 I had between flights and they made me miss my flight. What recourse do I have against United? even if they get me on another flight, they made me miss MY flight and all the delay will bring me further complications. Who will compensate me for it?
