I am flying into IAH from Tokyo, then fly to PHL from IAH. Both United Airline. I only have 80min layover. United rep told me it's enough time and said I don't need to pick up luggage. Is it true? Do I have enough time? Do I need to pick up luggage and recheck at IAH?
that is completely incorrect. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate. That is not realistically enough time unless the flight from Tokyo arrives significantly early.
Thanks you for your quick answer. That was my guess, how could sell such a ticket? It's just wrong... I will call United and see what they can do but probably nothing at this point.
I am flying to Singapore from New Orleans. I have 55 mins layover at IAH. I wonder if that will give me enough time to arrive my departure gate to Tokyo (terminal D) from terminal C.
Yes, that is enough time. Those gates are connected inside security.
Do I need to go through Immigration, Customs?
There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US.
OK! Thank you!
Hello! I am flying out from DTW to IAH and only have an hour and 35 minute layover in Houston before my international flight to GRU leaves. I am traveling alone for the first time and very nervous about missing my flight due to the short layover before an international flight. Will I have enough time? Are there any tips??
I am also flying with United and have only carry on.
All you have to do in Houston on the way to Sao Paulo is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you need to change terminals the Skyway train connects all terminals inside security. You have enough time.
Arriving gate A and departing gate C with 40 minutes. Easiest way?
The skyway train connects all concourses inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
So if I read map correctly, I arrive on level 2, take escalator to level 3 for train?
Yes, that is correct. There are lots of signs for the train.
I fly from Lima to IAH into terminal E, I have a 1hr 35min connection, next flight is out of terminal C to Calgary AB, Canada.....is this sufficient time? will I need to clear security in IAH?
Thank you in advance for the advise
Yes, in Houston you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Thank you ZAP for the quick reply
Hello, trying to buy ticket from IAH getting in at 4:54 from Honduras. What is earliest flight I should book, have to switch airlines as Spirit doesn't go to PHX in the evening. How much time to do customs and recheck into another airline?
I would want a minimum of 3 hours, preferably a little more.

I am travelling from YUL (montreal) on air canada to IAH. I am then switching to United to go to BZE (Belize City). I will only have carry-on items. Is a 1h20m layover enough time?
Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Houston is go to your departure gate. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.
Wow, thanks for the quick reply! One more question if you don't mind - I am pretty new to flying. Where will I be getting my United Ticket? Will I get it when I get my Air Canada ticket? Or do I just need to go to the gate with my itinerary? Thanks
Air Canada should be able to issue both boarding passes in Montreal. If they can't then you can get your second boarding pass at the gate in Houston.
Perfect! You have yourself a great day :)
If I fly in-out with United Ailaines from UIO to IAH, which terminal I will arrival to? and I need to departure from IAH to NRT, which terminal I will fly out from? It is flight connection,
do I need to go trough immigration?
If I fly from UIO to IAH, which terminal I will arrival to?
and I need to departure from IAH to NRT, which terminal I will fly out from?
Do I need to go trough immigration?
You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration and Customs and security and then go back to your departure gate, also in Terminal E. If both flights are on United on the same reservation then you should not have to claim and re-check your bags.
Thank you for your reply and also the same one more question.
If I fly with Delta airlines from Quito(UIO) to Japan (NRT), I will have connection flight at ATL. Which terminal I will arrival to? and Do I need to go through immigration?
If you connect through Atlanta, both flights will be in the International Terminal. The process is the same except that you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, then re-check them immediately after at the re-check desk.
Hi my mom has to make a connection from Houston to Tampa throught Southwest Airlines but only gives her 35 minutes to do so, I dont know the gates yet but she arrives in Houston from El Paso TX around 9:30 pm. Will that be enough time??
Note that you posted this in the forum for Houston-Intercontinental airport. Southwest does not fly to that airport. They fly to Houston-Hobby which is much smaller. She should have enough time if her first flight is on-time.
Hi! Thank you for replying so fast. After I wrote the comment I realized there are two airports in Houston and saw she is arriving in HOU (Hobby Airport) im glad she'll have enough time. It's her first time flying alone and her English isn't too great so she's very nervous about those 35 minutes she has to make the flight connection. Thank you again!
