Hi, I am traveling from Bogota to Amsterdam and I have a layover in Houston and have a chilean passport. I have a 2.5 hour connection and I will like to know if I will manage to catch the flight to AMS. Thanks!!

That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 1hr 50 min Connection

I would like to make sure 1hr 50mins is enough to connect onto my flight to Costa Rica. Both flights with United on the same booking. Also I'd like to know which terminal I will arrive in (coming from London Heathrow), and which terminal I will depart from - I expect my bags will be checked through to Costa Rica (Liberia). Thanks!

You will both arrive and depart in Terminal E. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, I'm flying from Vancouver YVR to IAH where I'll catch a connection flight to Fort Lauderdale- FLL, and from there another one to Brazil (all flights in only one ticket from United Airlines). Since I'll probably have already made the US customs preclearance in Vancouver, will I have to recheck my baggage in IAH or is it going all the way to the final destination?

No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Houston - just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Wow, you are fast! Thank you so much!

We are flying via United from cancun to Omaha, NE with connection at IAH. The layover is only 1hr 30 min. Is that enough time to make it through customs?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi, my husband arrives at IAH from Auckland NZ then transferrs to a donestic flight to Syracuse NY ... If his bag is tagged all the way to Syracuse will he have to recheck it after customs or is there a drop off point for Inernational to Domestic transfers ??

In Houston he will go through US Immigration, claim his bag, go through US Customs, then re-check his bag right after at the re-check drop desk, then go through security and to his departure gate.

Thanks for your reply ... Is this an airline specific drop or just a transfer drop point ?

It's a general drop point, although nearly everybody will be getting on a United flight.

I'm taking a flight with United Airlines from Mexico City to Chicago with a 1h55m layover at Houston and a terminal change, is this enough time to make this connection? Do I have to get through security again or re-check luggage? Thanks!

You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I have a flight from Toronto through Santiago connecting in Houston. There is only one hour between the connecting flights. However, US customs from Toronto to Houston are in the Toronto Airport. Once we land in Houston, will we still have to get our bags to check them in again?

No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Houston. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

We are travelling from SFO to IAH, and then on to LHR, with a 1hr stopver in IAH. Is this enough time? Thank you.

If both flights are on the same reservation that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks for the prompt. Yes, all is on the same reservation

I am going from el salvador to vancouver with a layover in IAH (united airlines) the layover is for about 6 hours. So i was wondering if i go to US immigration and then claim my luggage do i have to stay with them the 6 hours or i have to re check them again?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You should not have to claim and re-check your bags because you are on an International to International connection with both flights on United.

I am looking at a flight arriving at IAH with a 49 minute layover and terminal change. I don't know which terminals for arrival and departure yet, just that there ia a terminal change. Is 49 minutes enough for a domestic flight?

It looks like we would arrive in Terminal B and Depart Terminal C

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.
