  • Bring pet from Europe to Houston IAH
    Nov 3, 2012

Hi, I would like to bring our "family" dog from Europe to Texas. The dog is about 18 lbs, and being my elderly mother's companion, we would like to arrange for her the safest and least stressful flight to the US. Money is not an issue, as long as she either flies in the cabin with us, or in a "humane" environment. Please help !

Rules regarding taking pets onboard an aircraft differ from airline to airline. Many of them allow dogs (in a kennel) on the seat next to its owner, but charging the second seat. Hopefully someone will drive your mother to the Airport; park the car, find out where the pet relief area is before putting the dog in the kennel and loading it onto a baggage cart located outside the terminal. From there, a Skycap can accompany her & the dog (which is not allowed inside the terminal unless in a kennel) through security check and on to her gate. When making airline reservations, do state all these needs. Also contact your Airport for information.

We're flying from Frankfurt to IAH in December. You can take cats and small dogs in the cabin in a soft carrier bag (you have to be able to fit it under the seat in front for takeoff and landing. KLM and Air France also allows small pets in the cabin. British Airways doesn't. BA is a rip-off for shipping pets.

Is there a onsite covered parking facility that will accomodate a vehicle that is 85" tall

While 'C Parking' located between Terminals C & D/E is quoted as 'covered parking' I suggest you call 281-233-1730 or visit newsouthparking-tx.com.

I have a family memeber flying into IAH who has never flown before. Is it possible to meet her at the gate to ensure she does not get lost?

You will need to contact the airline for a special pass to meet your party at the gate. Otherwise, you can give her/him instructions on how to get to the baggage claim area, where you could meet up. (Open www.ifly.com/iah, click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to the detailed text indicating airlines and terminal connections.)

Arriving from Atlanta on Delta flight at 6.31pm. Which terminal must my friends come to meet me?

At IAH, Delta uses Terminal A - which has in the center, as well as to the right & left of the entrance, escalators & elevators to the Baggage Claim - meet them there. (IAH's access road passes first Terminals D & C, which are connected, followed by Terminals B & A. Another option would be to use the free Cell Phone Lot ('Passenger Pickup Lot')--stay with your vehicle until your party has gathered luggage and calls you to be picked up at the curb. To access the lot, whether you're approaching the airport using John F. Kennedy Boulevard or Will Clayton Parkway, just follow the purple signs to the entrance.

Do i need shuttle to go to Terminal C to Terminal A in IAH airport?

On arrival at IAH at Terminal C, take the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, and connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security.

We will arrive at Terminal b and need to be at Terminal c how much time should i allow for to get from b to c.

At IAH, on arrival at Terminal B, near gateway to gates B76 to B83A is the entrance to the TerminaLink train station which will take you to Terminal C with gates C29 to C33, C34 to C42, and C43 to C45.

SFo-iah-rsw departing at noon, what does it look like the chance for delays or cancellations at this point due to Isaac? Thanks

This will depend on what airline you are flying. Have you checked with them or on the status of your flight?

We are flying out of Houston to Orlando on Tuesday, 8/28. Are the flight paths going to be changed? Or our flights going to be canceled?

We suggest you check with your airline. Your airline will always have the most accurate information regarding your flight. Just today, United Airlines sent out exception policies for Tropical Storm Isaac, however, IAH was not one of the airports listed. bit.ly/HEi0I2

UPDATED info is now available from United: bit.ly/HEi0I2 Not sure if this is the airline you are flying with.

Open your airline's website and look for special announcements at main page.

I would like to know of alternatives to get to Hobby airport, other than limo or taxi. I am travelling alone with 2 suitcases. Thank you for your help.

I suggest you call the Metro Airport Direct information line at 713.635.4000 - find out if their buses connect t Hobby and if they take 2 suitcases. Otherwise, contact the SuperShuttle shared-ride service (Tel: 713.523.8888)

  • terrible international airport

Second time in 3 months that I have had to sprint to my next flight because of IAH's ineffective and downright maddening customs/connections to domestic flights. I will avoid IAH as an international connection airport at all costs in the future.

Finding your way at IAH after arriving from an international flight and transferring to a domestic flight: The International Arrivals building (part of TE)at IAH can be accessed from both TE and TC, with separate US Customs. Arriving passengers go through customs & take the escalator down to Baggage Claim Level 1. From there they go through Exit Control and enter to the right the baggage recheck area, and straight out arrive at the International Arrivals Lobby, which has an escalator down to Inter-Terminal Train - serving all other terminals. There take the escalator up, go through security check and on to your connecting gate. Allow at rush hours mornings & evening, as well during summer time, for more time (suggested gate-to-connecting-gate transfer 1 hr 15 mins.)

I have a flight late tonight/arriving early morn from Portland, OR connecting through IAH then on to Tamps, FL. What are expectations of keeping schedule based on weather (current and forecast).

Both IAH and Tampa are prone to thunderstorms happening at this time of the year - I suggest you open www.ifly.com/flight-tracker.

  • Terminal E to B connection

I make a Connection in Houston. I arrive at Terminal E and have to go to Terminal C. How can I do that?

At IAH Terminal E is for international arrivals. At the International Arrivals building (part of TE)you go through customs & take the escalator down to Baggage Claim Level 1. From there you go through Exit Control and enter to the right the baggage recheck area, and straight out arrive at the International Arrivals Lobby; take the escalator down to the inter-terminal train and get off at Terminal C. where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

  • Terminal E to B in one hour???

Hi, my teenage daughter is flying alone and will be arriving at terminal E with an hour connection to terminal B. This is a domestic flight. I am assuming that the tram will connect her without her going downstairs through customs. Am I correct and will that give her enough time to get to her next flight. Thanks so much

As your daughter arrives at the International Terminal E, she is apparently an international arrival and consequently has to go through customs & take the escalator down to Baggage Claim Level 1. From there she will through Exit Control and enter to the right the baggage recheck area, thereafter, going straight out she will arrive at the International Arrivals Lobby which has an escalator down to the train to Terminals B. She should count on an hour for customs & transfer time. However, if she only has a carry-on bag, this will make it much quicker.
