  • interntl' to domestic w/1 hr. layover

We are coming from Costa Rica with a 1 hr layover before catching a flight to San Francisco. Am I reading it correct in the previous posts, that that will not be enough time due to security checks in Houston???

You will arrive either at Terminals E or C - both of which have US customs and the international arrivals building, part of TE can be accessed from both. Arriving passengers go through customs & take the escalator down to Baggage Claim Level 1. From there they go through Exit Control and enter to the right the baggage recheck area, and straight out arrive at the International Arrivals Lobby and the Exits. This area also has an escalator down to the inter-terminal train to domestic Terminals A, B & C (where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. I would not recommend taking the connecting flight to SFO departing an hour later. Going through customs & re-checking in bags can take alone 35-50 mins. Add waiting for train, standing in line for security check and walking to connecting gate - is stretching it quite a bit.

Beware flying into Houston if you need to clear customs. The wait can be as long as two hours. Customs officials are indifferent as to whether you make your flight or not, generally rude and over worked. There were more customs officers working at 11 pm in Calgary Alberta than in the fifth busiest airport in North America. Shame on them and I try to avoid connections in Houston if possible

  • TSA, slowest in the industry

Arrived 1 1/2 hrs early to get through security. We realized we weren't going to get on our plane and no TSA would help us, Not even the manager. They delayed our stay longer when they went through every item of clothing in my small carry on bag. Even tested my 3 oz saline solution. Missed my flight and had to stay in Denver for 6 HOURS. Thanks a lot. Guy with Dreads under a cap ( Like Cat in the Hat). Needs to have an attitude adjustment, Better yet another job.

  • No maps or Navigation Help

I fly through IAH on a regular basis, however in the dozens of times I have been there the terminal map bins have always been empty - never a map to be found anywhere. There does not seem to be any large central maps (at least none that I have found). When on a long layover and trying to find a place to eat or rest, the information people simply direct you to the empty map bin. (not much help). The website (www.ifly.com) does give some information, however none of the online content is printable in a useful form. The airport has lots of amenities, just good luck finding them.

  • Plane change time

My party of 11 arrives in Houston on July 12 on United flight 1283 from Charlotte at 8:07 am. We are scheduled to depart on United flight 1032 (formerly COPA 1932) at 8:45 am only 38 minutes later. What gate do we arrive at and from what gate do we leave? Is 38 minutes enough time to make the change?

You will arrive and depart from Terminal C - its gates are divided into east gates C14-24 and west gates C29-45. No need to take transportation - just walk to departing gate on arrival. NOTE: Do confirm your flight a week before.

  • Rude airport employee

I was just in terminal A at IAH after a very long day of travel. I tried to use the restroom and there was a lady doing clean up. I stood outside waiting for her to finish, patiently. When she came to the door she said I would have to go elsewhere I explained to her that I couldn't walk that far. She rudely said that was my problem. I would like to file a complaint against this unneccesarily rude employee.

  • Customes & back through Security

The airport needs to look at the way they move travelers through immigration and back to the domestic terminals. We were in your airport on Saturday, January 14th. Our flight was due to arrive around 5PM and we arrived early which gave us over 2 hours to make our connection. Moving through customs was just OK. However, once we got to security, it was very busy and there were several travelers who had very short connection times. 2 young gentlemen (different times) tried to move up in line and, for the most part travelers were very sympathetic and wanting to help them get through security. Two of your employees saw them and started yelling - and I mean yelling - to go to the end of the line. They were rude and very insulting. The crowd said; let him go through. They continued arguing with everyone and were quite obnoxious (especially the woman). One of these travelers was trying to make his connection to Australia! Now, I understand that there were probably many who had very short connections and these employees were just trying to do their job, however, I was embarrassed to be from this country as I watched their assertion of "power" over the group. Had I witnessed this in another country, I would think twice before ever coming back. As we watched this all happen, and we were on the side of those with short connections, we saw anyone in a wheel chair or with a cane, allowed to go to the front of the line. At least 6 wheel chairs plus a family of 6 who was traveling with a gentleman with a cane all got in front of our line as we were just getting to the front of the line, THEN a group of about 10 flight attendants came and moved to the front of our line - those brash employees were very "sweet" to the attendants! Why can't you have 2 extra lines - one for wheel chairs and flight attendants and one for those with short connections - 45 min or less. You can check their boarding passes! If the lines are slow, you can pull from the other lines to keep them busy. You will make this a much more enjoyable experience for everyone by adding this policy, especially during your busy times. After our experience, I will do my best to avoid this airport in the future.

  • short layover international to domestic

I will land on houston at 5:05 from doha via qatar airways and have connecting flight ot milwaukee via continental at 6:55. is 1 hr and 50 minutes enough to go through immigration, baggage claim and recheck, moving from terminal D to terminal B and catch a connecting flight? Does qatar airways arrives in time? i've heard that they are always delayed by 25 mins oe so.

    1. you have enough time to transfer. Count on up to 45 mins. for your international arrivals procedure, and another 30 mins for transfer to domestic gates - even with possible Qatar delay, you make it. 2. On arrival at IAH, you will need to go to the International Arrivals building - part of Terminal D. There you go through customs, take escalator down to baggage claim level 1. From there go through Exit Control & enter to the right baggage recheck area, then straight out to International Arrivals Lobby & take the escalator down to the inter-terminal train to Terminal B, where you have to go through security check again, and up to your departing gate. TB has four gateways to gates 60-66, 6875, 76-83 & 84-88.

I will arriving at Treminal B and then Departing From Terminal E. I have a 1hour 29 minute layover will I have enough time to walk to terimal E?

I am flying Continental on both flights

Hurry! you need, on arrival, take the above-ground TerminaLink train to Terminal E which makes its continuous loop between the terminals inside security. Terminal E gates have on one side gates E12-24 & on opposite side E1-11.

Great airport! Clean, bright, well marked, excellent tram system. My connecting flights to and from Lima, Peru were on time and I had no problems getting through customs and security. Note: If you have one hour or less to make your connection, don't stump your toe. You've got enough time but only just.
