Gran Canaria LPA Airport Overview

Gran Canaria Airport LPA – also known as Las Palmas Aiport - is located 19 km south of the Island’s capital and province of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or 25 km from the popular tourist areas, and situated on the eastern side of the Spanish island of Gran, at the Bay of Gando. Gran Canaria's main highway GC1 runs directly past the airport providing fast transport links to Las Palmas in the North and to the popular tourist resorts in the South.

With two long runways and an estimated 10.5 million passengers in 2011,  Gran Canaria Airport is hub to Binter Canarias Airline and is served by a host of national and international, regular and low-cost airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe, and by seasonal charters.

Gran Canaria Airport has a three-level passenger terminal. (For more information, please refer to 'Terminal Map' page.) 

Parking options at Gran Canaria Airport: The carpark across from the terminal has presently 1,558 spaces, of which 32 are designated for disabled persons.   A new carpark is presently under construction.
A total of 7 automatic payment machines are available, of which 3 are on the upper floor A, and 4 are on the lower floor C - they accept EUR notes & coins & credit cards.  Intercoms connect to the carpark control center on all payment machines, as well as next to the automatic barriers.

Rental car counters for major rental cars are located in the passageway connecting Zones A & B.

To get from Gran Canaria Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or a bus.
1. Taxi service (tel. 928 154 777) is considered the most efficient way, as the island has its own taxi services with low fares. The taxi stand is in front of Zones A, B & C.
2. Three bus lines stop in front of the terminal’s Arrivals area: for schedules & fares visit: globalsu.net/
Line 5 Bus to Faro de Maspalomas (tel. 928 252 630) makes many stops on the way to, and within the city.
Line 60 Bus to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (tel. 928 252 630) makes several stops along the way to and within the city.
Line 66 to Faro de Maspalomas (tel. 928 252 630) makes several stops along the way to and within the city.

Present and Future Airport Developments:  The present passenger terminal is being extended at north, south and east sides, providing for a capacity of 15 million passenger per annum.  Work is presently scheduled to be completed in August 2013.
