Guanajuato BJX Airport Overview

Guanajuato International Airport BJX  serves the central Mexican State of Guanajuato and its cities of Leon & Guanajuato. It is managed by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP).
The Airport is not only an important transfer point for flights from Mexico City to the United States, but is an important tourist destination. The City of Guanajuato is the cultural capital of the Bajio region - one of the most charming regions of Mexico. UNESCO declared Guanajuato city as a World Heritage Site due to its historic center, and it is definitely worthwhile to spend a day exploring it and taking in the sites and tastes the city has to offer.

The Airport, at an elevation of 5,956 feet, is located in Silao, off State Highway 45, near the state capital of Guanajuato, and is close to Leon and only 20 miles from Ixtapa.

With a very long runway (and pending construction of a second one) and an estimated 950,300 passengers in 2012, Guanajuato International Airport is served by Aeromexico & other domestic airlines, as well as by American Eagle, United, & United Express (operated by InterJet).
