Main Terminal / Concourses at Halifax YHZ Airport
Halifax Stanfield International Airport has one three-level passenger terminal, divided into a lower level, a main level and a departures level. The terminal is continuously being upgraded. The passenger security screening checkpoint is centrally positioned in the main lobby for easy access. Also, there are many retail shops and services at Airport Square offering a wide variety of traveler amenities.
All flight departure gates are located on the second level.
Passengers arriving on domestic flights may claim their baggage in the public arrivals area in the north end of the Terminal Building.
NOTE:
1. Halifax Airport offers U.S. Customs pre-clearance for departing passengers (located at the far end north of the terminal (follow signs of American Flag); take escalator to level 2, go to ticket counter & check-in bags, proceed through pre-board security screening and through US Customs, then go on to your gate. US Customs is open 5am-5pm (arrive there no later than 4:30pm).
2. Those arriving from outside Canada must clear customs and immigration through facilities located on the ground level.
The lower level of the passer terminal connects to the parking facilities via a South, Center & North Tunnel (to Parkade and car rental facilities) and has Pay-on-Foot ticket stations in the three lower level tunnel exits.. This level connects to the Main level via staircase, escalators and elevators.
The Main level of the passenger terminal has in the center its main lobby with food & shops. To the right of the Lobby is preboard security screening, entrance to U.S. pre-clearance, domestic arrivals, international arrival, Canada Customs and a gateway to gates 34 to 46. To the right of the main lobby are ticketing and check-in facilities, leading to two gateways , one with gates 5 to 9 and one with gates 2A-2E, 3 & 4.
The Departures level of the passenger terminal has in the center access to the observation deck and (from left to right) Gates 10 to 28. The Departures Holdroom offers food & drink, as well as shops. US check-in, US pre-board security screening and US Customs are on the left side, followed by a US Departures holdroom near gate 28. A ticketing/check-in desk is between gates 27 & 28. To access Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge, take the elevator after the security checkpoint.
Amenities & servics inside the passenger terminal:
The Main Level of the terminal has in the center the Main Lobby offering various shops - including Clearwater Seafood for lobsters to take home (they pack it in ice); newsstands, Kids Works, and pre-board security screening. Four ATM cash machines are located on this level, one is in the ticket counter area, one in domestic arrivals, one near the food court,and one in the retail area. A full-service Royal Bank of Canada machine is in the hallway between the main lobby & domestic arrivals; a U.S. currency ATM by TravelEx Canada is in the U.S. preclearance departure area. Travelex Canada is open 6am-11pm, located on the main level.
The Departures Level of the terminal has duty-fee shops in the U.S. departures and across from Gate 24. AirRianta Duty free, Hudson news & gift shops, Tech on the Go, and a number of food & drink establishments.
To access Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge, take the elevator after the security checkpoint.
