I have a group of 25 traveling 2/7. They leave SXM at 320p arrive ATL 648p and leave ATL 730p to fly to Jackson.MS. Delta said this Is enough connecting time but do you think it is? Any tips or suggestions.....By the way, there are no other Delta flights scheduled that day that will get them back to Jackson, MS. that day.

Oof, no that's not nearly enough time. I wouldn't even remotely consider a shorter under 70 minutes as being possible.

I am traveling from Pittsburgh to Montpellier, France, with connections in Atlanta and Paris. Will I have to claim bags or go through int'l checks in PIT/ATL, or only once I am in France?

You will not have to touch your bags until you get to Montpellier. You will go through Schengen passport control in Paris. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I am flying from Paris to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to Florida. I have 1 hour 50 minutes between landing in Atlanta and the Florida flight. Can I make it through customs, passport, baggage, etc. in 1:50 or should I take the flight that gives me 4 hrs. 30 min.

1 hr 50 minutes should be enough time.

We are flying to and from Georgetown Bahamas thru ATL. Where do we clear customs, since as far as I know, preclearance only available at Freeport and Nassau?

Correct. You will arrive in the International Terminal in Atlanta and go through US Immigration and Customs there.

  • Connection flight: Immigration citizen & non-citizen

Two friends are flying from Amsterdam to Texas with a stopover in ATL. She holds the US passport, her husband does not. Does he need to get through the non-citizen-line or can he join his wife using the citizen-line (he uses the tourist visa)? They will stay in ATL for 100 minutes - is that enough?

He will have to go through the non citizen line because if he is on a tourist visa the automated kiosks will not be able to process him. They should have enough time.

  • Not sure where I'm landing!

Hi I am flying from Ottawa Canada on Delta and I have a connection flight to Mexico. The ticket only says "international term" for both, landing and departing. I have 1:24 hr to change flights. Do you think I will make it? I usually go through customs in Ottawa, but nor sure, it varies from city to city... Do you think I will make it on time? Thank you!!!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Ottawa. You do not actually have to go to the "international terminal" you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If they are on different concourses the plane train connects all concourses inside security. You have plenty of time.

  • luggage re-incheck and customs clearance

Hi. My wife departed Amsterdam on KLM this morning to Houston-Hobby with a connection in ATL but her luggage was booked for pick-up in Hobby. Please, is this OK?

In Atlanta, she will have to claim her baggage after going through US Immigration, then go through US Customs, then re-check her bags at the transfer desk.

Since the luggage has been booked for pick-up in Hobby, please, what is the implication if she is unable to retrieve it in ATL? I am really worried for her. Thanks

Even though the bags are tagged to HOU they will come out on the carousel in ATL for her to go through customs. All international arriving bags are put on the carousel.

hello how long are immigration wait times on terminal F, is true that sometimes it takes 2 hours? :o

That would be a very rare and extreme occurrence.

so how much time it takes to pass the passport control?

Typically, the time from when your flight arrives to when you are at the security checkpoint to go back through security to your connecting flight or exiting the building if you are staying in Atlanta would be 30-45 minutes.

My daughter is flying home to SFO from Brazil. First flight is from Curitiba to Sao Paolo and then to Atlanta and finally SF. I know she will need to go through US immigration and customs upon entering the country. At what point will she go through customs when leaving Brazil? would it be in Curitiba or Sao Paolo?

She arrives at Sao Paolo as a domestic arrivals, where she needs only to go through passport check; Upon arrival at Atlanta, she will undergo regular international arrivals procedures including, picking up bags, going through customs & re-checking in bags where indicated. While she will arrive at the new International Terminal of ATL, her connecting domestic flight will depart from one of the domestic terminals. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the text - paying attention particularly to 'Getting Around" & TERMINAL DETAILS.

  • Customs Process Coming from MX Continuing on to Spain

We have relatives coming from MX that will be continuing on to Spain who will have a four hours layover at ATL. We would like to visit them and I'm wondering if there will be enough time. I'm assuming they have to go through Customs and recheck their bags. Should there be enough time to visit for an hour and where would be the best place to meet them?

Are both of their flights on Delta. If so they will have to exit the International terminal as if they are an Atlanta-bound passenger. Yes, there should be enough time. You will have to meet them in the arrivals area of the International terminal.

Your relatives will arrive at the International Terminal, either at F or E Concourse. After customs & baggage re-check-in, they would need to take the shuttle bus outside to the Main Terminal, where they could meet you in the Arrivals Lobby on level 1 of the Domestic Terminal - a 12-minute ride. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/atl then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Ignore frapr, it's nonsense. There is an arrivals area for the International Terminal that you can meet them at although it may be confusing for them to get there after re-check. http://www.atlanta-airport.com/internationalterminal/passenger/arrivals.html

  • Quiet workplace at ATL

I have 6 hours at the ATL airport and need a quiet place to set up a laptop and work. Any ideas?

If you don't mind it smelling like smoke a little bit, i find the smoking lounges to be good places. They generally have few people in them and have updraft ventilation which sort of muffles the noise around you a bit. Other than that I'm not really aware of many quiet places around the ATL airport.
