  • Quiet workplace at ATL

I have 6 hours at the ATL airport and need a quiet place to set up a laptop and work. Any ideas?

If you don't mind it smelling like smoke a little bit, i find the smoking lounges to be good places. They generally have few people in them and have updraft ventilation which sort of muffles the noise around you a bit. Other than that I'm not really aware of many quiet places around the ATL airport.

Are there moving walkways? Age 80 might need aid. Is there any?

I suggest you contact ATL at http://www.atlanta-airport.com/Airport/ATL/contact_information.aspx (or call 404-530-6600) - The gate areas are located in Concourses T, A, B, C, D, E & F - all have a gate 1 (i.e. gate T1, E1, F1). For detailed information open www.ifly.com/atl, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • Free Wifi?

Does Dunkin' Donuts or Arby's offer FREE Wifi in the terminal? Are there any free hotspots?

Paid Wi-Fi is available throughout Atlantal Airport -even at the Transportation Mall under the Concourses and the Airport is its proprietor, as you will see when opening the splash page (which also allows you to access its web site). There you connect to one of these providers - Boingo, Advanced Wireless Group (AWG), AccessAnyplace, or Opti-Fi. For more information you can contact 1-877-452-9434.

Is there a currency exchange in Terminal F and where?

At ATL there is no currency exchange available at TF, however, Travelex has five currency exchange locations at Hartsfield-Jackson: One in the Atrium (tel. 404-766-2700), three on Concourse E (tel. 404-761-6331), and one on Concourse T.

Would anyone know where the smoking lounge would be located in Terminal D? The ATL website shows it's in the Sojourner's Lounge and then on the same ATL website it says smoking at D16 and D26? which is it?

  • Curbside baggage claim pickup?

When I drive in, how do I get down to pick up someone at the baggage claim level? I always miss it and go round and round... aargh.

    (at Hartsfield Jackson ATL)

The best way is to use the free Cell Phone Lot with 160 spaces situated along South Terminal Parkway at east end of Park-Ride Reserve lot, accessible to the right of the parkway by a new driveway. Stay with your car until your party has collected bags and calls you to be picked up at the terminal curb.

I have three persons I have to get in touch with before they leave the airport coming from Africa (customs in Detroit) Is there a paging system or a way for Delta to get them a message on the flight?

    1. You can contact ATL at http://www.atlanta-airport.com/Airport/ATL/contact_information.aspx, or call (404) 530-6600 - also try Delta at 800-221-1212.

  • Connecting through Atlanta

HI, I am flying Toronto - Atlanta - Johannesburg in July, arriving and departing the south terminal according to my eTicket. I'm curious as to what the process is for connecting thru ATL? I hear it's very confusing. Is the baggage generally checked thru or do I need to collect my luggage, go thru security and then check back in etc? I know i have plenty of time as I have a 4 hour connection. Would it be the same coming back?

Arriviing from Houston IAH at B13 departing for Barcelona BCN at E70; what is process? Are bags checked through or do you need to claim and recheck/security? or other?

    1. You need to make sure at Houston when checking in that your airline will transfer bags to connecting flight (if by different airline). Also have your bags properly tagged for stopover the end destination. 2. Only if your original airline does not forward your bags, you need, on arrival at ATL, go down to baggage claim, get your bag and re-check it in at your departing airline's counter. 3. All concourses are connected by an automated people mover (APM) stopping the the center of each of the concourse's gates. (you arrive at B concourse and depart from E concourse. the APM makes its continuous rounds and takes minutes.

We have 35 min to get from B33 to A32 will that be enought time

the APM train makes frequent runs between the main terminal and the Concourses, with stops in the Concourse center (at B between gates B1-18 & B19-36; at A between gates A1-18 & A19-34). You will have to really sprint - (if your arriving plane is late, you are out of luck!

Do all flights outside of the US depart out of Concourse E and how to get gate # (flt 10 Delta) 12-28-2011

Delta flies out of Concourse E (Flt 10 is listed for today: London gate E36) - you need to look at your ticket to see which gate you depart from.

how do i go from gate A32 to D41 i have 40 minutes to to it can it be done

    1. Under the center of each concourse passes the APM train, which makes a continuous run between main terminal and Concourses A-E. You arrive at Concourse A to the left of the center; walk towards the center and take the train three stops to Concourse D. Concourse D is divided into 2 parts: D1-D16 and D21-D37 (according to ATL terminal map - it does not show gate D41 - look at your ticket to make sure).

If we are leaving from Miami to Munich (Germany) connecting thru Atlanta, do I have to do customs and immigration in Miami or in Atlanta? Do my luggage goes thru from Miami or do I have to pick it up and check it in again in Atlanta?

wy do delta flights from atl to ecp always have delays i have had family fly in over the past 3 weeks the first arrived here 6 hours late the next 4 hours late and to-day my son and grandchildren who have flown in from scotland a 14 hour trip are being told by delta that the 4.54pm is delayed they were given 6.10pm now they have been given 6.40 pm and the sage continues

It is not Delta, it is the ATL FAA ATC system. Let's just say they do not appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed.
