  • Santo Doming - Atlanta - London connection time

Hi, I plan to fly with Delta from Santo Domingo (SDQ) to Atlanta, arriving at 17:30. Then I have just 2 hour 2 min connection to catch my flight to London (19:32). Both flight are with Delta. Is it enough time? will i have to pass passport control and claim my luggage at Atlanta? Thank you!

Yes, upon arrival in Atlanta you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage with Delta, then go through security. Then you can proceed to your departure gate to London. You should have enough time.

Hi, would a 2h50 layover at ATL be enough to go through customs (non resident visa but not WB) and then do the security check with a pet (will be requesting a private room) ? Delta says yes but you might have comments that say otherwise. Thank you for your comments.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

We are traveling to orlando from Aberdeen via Schiphol airport is 2 hours long enough for a layover we are traveling with klm and delta thank you

Yes, 2 hours is enough time. You will clear US Immigration and Customs while in Atlanta.

I will be travelling from Dubai to Lima, Peru, with layover in Atlanta. Peruvian VISA is not required for me to travel to Peru. Do I need a US VISA even if I am just layover in ATL through Delta Air Lines, and will not go out in Atlanta or the US?

Yes, if your nationality requires a visa to visit the US you need a Transit Visa to transit the US. Everybody goes through US Immigration upon arrival in the US, even if they are transferring onto another country.

hi! I will travel from Paris to Mexico for a vacation, and they told me that I should have a long layover (12h) at Atlanta airport before I can continue my trip.. what I should do ? there is an internal hotel or I need to leave the airport to find one !! or I will stay on the chair for 12h after a flight of (10h 8m) from Paris to Atlanta ? thank you !

There are no hotels inside the airport but there are several very close by. If you want to stay in the Airport that is also doable. Here is a guide to staying overnight at ATL - http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/atlanta.htm

I can't leave the airport to find one by myself ? it will be very exhausting and disturbing to lay on the chairs or on the floor for 12h after 10h in the plane

can anyone reply to me please !! my flight will be soon and I'm very puzzled about how I will spend 12h there !!

Yes, of course you can leave the airport. However there is nothing you can walk to.

I have 55 between flights on delta. Will I make it to my flight (of course if it's on time too) if I have to take the train to a different concourse? Also how do you get to the train?

There are a ton of signs pointing the way to the plane train. You can get between any two gates at ATL in under 20 minutes.

Hello, I understand that I will need to recheck my bag once I clear customs and I would normally go thru another security checkpoint then onto the plane train to my domestic gate for the flight to SFO. My parents want to visit with me before I go on to the the SFO gate. So my question is, can I recheck my bag and then leave into the International lobby as if I was an atlanta bound passenger, visit with them for an hour or so, then go back thru security at the international side and go onto the the plane train to get to the domestic gate? Or will I have to take my bag with me after I clear customs and check it back in at the delta gate on international side or domestic side? Sorry I am a little confused about how to do this. Thank you in advance for anyones input.

You should be able to do what you are originally planning.

i will land on Saturday morning at 9AM at the domestic terminal (Terminal S) and my next plane will leave 9:50 at Terminal I (International) is 50 minutes enough time??Thx

Yes that should be enough time. You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The plane train connects all concourses inside security.

  • 7 hour layover

I have a 7 hr layover. I have never been to Atlanta. What do you recommend that is closer and easier to visit? Thanks so much

There is nothing worth seeing that is close to the airport. You can ride MARTA into downtown to the five points station and walk to Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center and a few other things. I don't think you would have time to go to the Georgia Aquarium. The MARTA ride from the airport to downtown takes a little less than an hour each way, so considering you should be back at ATL at least an hour before your second flight, you will probably have about 3.5 hours that you can spend downtown. There are also some nice restaurants downtown if you want to get a meal there.

A friend is coming from Costa Rica with a 5 hours waiting time for his next flight with delta also to WI. Can I meet him at the airport? Where would be the best place ?

It is possible to meet him. He will go through Immigration, customs, and security in Terminal E/F, then, normally, he would take the Plane Train to his departure concourse. However, he could take the Plane Train to the domestic terminal and you could meet him at the exit there. You could meet him or her at the top of the escalator there. After they're done they'll have to go through security in the domestic terminal and take the plane train to their departure concourse.

So I need tell him that take the train to baggage claim right? There is where the escaledor are right? Is his first time flighting at all so I'm trying make it a little bit easy for him :) thank u.

Well, he needs to take the train to the DOMESTIC baggage claim. He will have already passed through the International Baggage Claim and re-checked his bags at that point.

Hi, I am flying from Omaha to Atlanta on 17th December with Delta Airlines (1956) and I have 45 minutes layover to catch plane to Costa Rica (353, also with Delta). Do you think it is possible? What to do if I miss the plane? Thank you!

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that is enough time. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which are connected by the underground plane train. If you miss your flight you will be booked on the next flight, which may not be until the next day.

i fly from memphis to new delhi,i land at atlanta at 5pm at terminal S i.e domestic with a delta fight and have to catch a 5.30pm flight with delta to paris.is the time sufficient and also i suppose i have to go through the immigration and security.and i have an 18 month old infant with me. your help will be appreciated.thank u

sorry the departure flight is at 5.50pm and i land at 5pm but i think i will be out of the plane at 5 15pm ad i guess the international flight will already be boarded so do u suggesr i change the tickets

You do not have to go through any immigration in Atlanta. You will only have to go from your arrival concourse (you arrive in one of the concourses T or A-D, not "Terminal S" and then you will depart from another concourse. Since Delta does not fly from Atlanta to Delhi nonstop, you will be flying somewhere else first, right? If that somewhere else is international, your departure will be in Concourse E and F. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

i fly from atlanta to paris, the concern is i arrive atlanta at 5pm and hane the connecting flight to paris at 5.50pm,so if u say that the immigration will be done at memphis will the time be enough to board the connecting flight to paris.taking in hand 15 minutes to get off the flight and board the 5.50 flight which will make it a 30 minutes layover time.

You won't have to go through any immigration in either Memphis or Atlanta. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The only time you will have to go through immigration on your trip is when you get to Delhi.

so 30 minutes is enough to catch the connecting flight to paris

A friend has a 4 hour layover arriving from SNA and leaving on an international flight to Scotland. Can we meet with him at the airport during his layover.

Yes, that might be enough time. Ticketing area of the international terminal is probably the best place.

I arrive on flight DL5165 with 51 minutes to get to next gate on DL 1166. anyone know if this is doable?

At ATL, Delta is using Concourses 1 through E (with corresponding gates). DL 5165 arrival is listed as gate C51, DL1166 at A34. The Plane Train making its continuous round, takes you to your connecting Concourse. You should have enough time.

    Thank you for the help
