  • Enough time?

I'm coming in to ATL from MIA and arriving in domestic term-south(according to airline) my connecting flight to SEA will depart from the same terminal(domestic term-south). Is 45 minutes enough time to make my connecting flight to SEA? I'm flying with Delta and have checked-in luggage. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that should be just enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. No need to ask the same question twice.

Srry about that. Thought that my previous one wasn't posted.

I'm coming from MIA to ATL and arriving in domestic term-south(this is what the airline says. I'll be departing for SEA 45 minutes later from the same terminal(domestic term-south). I have checked in luggage. Will 45 minutes be enough time to make my flight to SEA? Many thanks in advance.

Yes, that should be just enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I am coming into Atlanta from Lima, Peru, and got 6 hours to pass until going out to Seattle, and then on to Vancouver - will my luggage be checked through, or do I have to clear customs there? And if i can leave, how much time will i need to expect to get to the city, and back? Thank you!!!

Yes, in Atlanta you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You don't really have enough time to go into the city - by the time you got there you'd have to turn around and go back to the airport.

Thank you so much!! Very helpful!

sorry to tag one on - do you think shortening the "lay-over" to 2.5 hours would be too short for customs and all that?

2.5 hours is possible but obviously does add some risk if the first flight is delayed.

Hi! I am a non US resident and will come from Japan at 23 Aug (DL296). I will have connecting flight to Midway Chicago (DL1331) at 18:05. Since it will be my first time using Delta and go to Atlanta, I wonder if I can make it to my connecting flight on time. I actually want to go to Delta Flight Museum because I am an avid museum goer, so do you think it is wise to go out through immigration and security and come back again or it is better to stay within the airport? I read somewhere about civil rights related exhibition (or museum) near the airport. do you know about this? I also want to grab Atlanta`s signature fast food (if there is) during my layover, what will you recommend? I heard about chic fil a, would love to give it a try Thanks a lot!

You absolutely don't have enough time to do that. You only have enough time to make your connection.

Thanks for your advice! Do you think having a checked bag will make my time more tighter.

  • 51 min layover

Hi, We are flying from Tampa to ATL and have a 51 min layover until our international flight home to MAN in the UK. Are we likely to make it? Thanks

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do in Atlanta is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart and board your flight to Manchester.

    Thank you :-)

Hi. I have an oernight layover in Atlanta. Arrive there at 10.30pm and leave at 7.30am next morning for Honduras. I am flying from Scotland but I will first enter the US in Orlando where I have a layover and change planes. I assume I will clear passport control and customs in Orlando and so won't have to do this in Atlanta., so will I be able to stay secure side of the airport overnight in Atlanta. I hope to only have carry on luggage, but if I have checked luggage will I have to recheck this in Atlanta (or just Orlando). I fly with Virgin-Delta. Thanks

You will have to ask the agent at your origin if they can check your bag through to Honduras or if they can only check it to Atlanta. If they can only check it to Atlanta you will have to claim your bags in the S Domestic Terminal and take the shuttle bus to the International Terminal and then re-check them in the morning (the desk will open at about 3-4 AM) and go through security.

Thanks. If I only have carry on luggage and no checked luggage, will I be able to stay secure side in the airport. Am I able to get from domestic terminal to international terminal secure side. Thanks

Yes, if you have no checked bags then you can go directly to concourse E or F where you depart via the Plane Train. I don't know if you'll be allowed to stay in the concourse overnight though.

I am arriving form Mexico City (flying in Delta airlines) and I have one hour an 45 minutes to get through to customs and board my flight (Delta Airlines operate by Virginia airlines) to Manchester UK Do I need to recheck my luggage? Will an hour and 45 mins be enough time_

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have barely enough time.

Hello. One of my family friends is coming in from DFW and then has an layover of 3 hrs and 56 mins until she boards her London plane. My two girlfriends and I wanted to surprise her inside and wait with her until she has to go. Is there any way they will let us in if we got her boarding pass?

Adults can't get gate passes to meet other adults.

Do you think she would have enough time to get out and make it on time to her flight

Maybe - barely, it would be best to meet her in the International terminal since security lines tend to be shorter there and it would be closer to her flight to London.

  • Flying into ATL from Mexico, worried about connection time

Hello. I am a US citizen who lives in Mexico. I'm flying into ATL from Mexico City, then flying on to Heathrow from ATL. I am worried that the 1 hour & 46 minutes layover (assuming flight arrives on time from MxCty) won't be enough time to make my connection. Am I right in thinking I have to go through customs and security? Anything else? Am I worrying for nothing? Many thanks for any comments.

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. This is a difficult connection, but not impossible.

Zap, thank you so much for your reply. I will not be checking any luggage, so maybe that will give me some leeway.

What will I ha e to do during my hour and 45 min layover on Atlanta? I'm flying Medellin-Atlanta-Wilmington, NC on Delta. With a one-year-old!! Will I make it? If I don't, what's connectivity with Wilmington like? Will Delta cover the cost of I miss my connection? I know Atlanta is huge :/

You will arrive in the E or F gates, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. Delta has several daily flights from Atlanta to Wilmington and will rebook you on the next available one if you miss your connection.

I have a an international layover from London to Lima, do I have to go through immigration in Atlanta and if so is this enough time?

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. This is a very difficult connection.

I am travelling with hand luggage only, can I simply go through immigration then straight to security with no need to re check in?

I will arrive in ATL from Louisville at 4:46 and a connecting flight at 5:32. That's only a 46 min layover will I have enough time to get to my connecting flight?

Yes, that is enough time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

Where can we store our luggages during a long lay over at Atlanta airport? Wrap-a-bag is no more available. Any suggestions? Thanks

No, there is no luggage storage.

I'm flyig from ABQ to ATL with Delta, I'm goin to be there at 11.20 and my international flight departs at 12.10. Will I make the flight? Do I need to go through customs? Do I need to pick up my suitcase?

Yes, it's possible. There is no US Customs when exiting the US. You don't have to do anything with your bags. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to Concourse E or F where you depart.
