  • 15 hour layover

My wife and I (senior citizens) arrive with Delta from Buenos Aires into Atlanta at 05.35 and have a 15 hour layover until our 20.26 Delta flight to Amsterdam. Seems a shame to waste the time as we have never visited Atlanta before. Any suggestions as to how to spend the time would be appreciated.Perhaps a tour of Atlanta? I assume we will have to collect our bags and go through Customs/Immigrations.

I'm not aware of any tours. You can take MARTA from the airport to downtown fairly quickly and walk around, go to the CNN Center, go to Georgia Aquarium, and see Centennial Olympic Park. That's about all there is to do for the casual tourist in Atlanta. I lived there for 4 years, so if you want specific restaurant recommendations, I can do that too.

Hi Zap, Many thanks for your reply. Yes, looks like the MARTA and a wander round until our old legs need a rest and then head to the nearest bar.

I will be arriving at4:40pm from Dallas and leaving there at 5:40pm to go to Amsterdam. Is one hour enough time to change planes

As long as the first flight is domestic and both flights are on the same reservation that should be enough time. What airlines are you flying?

Yes, that is enough time. You just have to take the plane train from your arrival concourse to E or F where you will depart.

I am arriving from Mexico City and than have a 2 hour layover to get through customs and board my flight to burssels. Will that be enough time?

That should be just about enough time. You will arrive in E/F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate for Brussels.

  • 45 min layover

I am flying out from Tampa FL to Atlanta hartsfield jackson airport with Delta Airlines. I only have a 45 minutes layover before I fly to Amsterdam with KLM. Will that give me enough time to catch my flight?

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from Tampa is on-time. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All concourses in Atlanta are connected inside security by the Plane Train.

Thank you for your response. Are the terminals that I am arriving from and that I am departing from close to each other? Could you tell me what terminal I am arriving in and what terminal I am departing from? Thank you

You don't have to change terminals. You will likely arrive in Concourse T, A, B, or C and depart from concourse E or F.

We're traveling from DCA to SAL with a 1 hour 6 min layover in ATL. We arrive at ATL 9:04am and our flight is at 10:06am . What is the process with baggage U.S Customs and or Immigration . This is my first time doing a layover and we are flying delta

There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Atlanta on your way to San Salvador is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • Enough time

I have a Delta flight from MSY to ATL arriving at 17:35. Have a Delta international connecting flight to Paris at 18:20. So is 45 min enough to get to my flight and what is the fastest route to get to my Int terminal.

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just go from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse using the plane train. You should have enough time.

  • Flying Delta with a long connection + AA Admirals Club Passes?
    Jan 20, 2016
Me and my GF have a 4+ hour layover in ATL on Delta. We are arriving from JAX and going to LHR. My dad gave us two AA Admirals club lounge passes. It is my understanding that since all the concourses are connected and in the secured zone we could go to Admirals club with our passes? Do you know if the lounge will require to see an AA ticket upon entry?

Yes you can access the Admirals Club on concourse T. They will ask to see your boarding pass but it doesn't have to be on AA if you have lounge passes.

  • 58 minute layover to catch international flight
    Jan 17, 2016
Flying into ATL have 58 min layover to catch International flight to Amsterdam. Is that enough time? Have been told I will not have to clear immigration/customs until my final destination Leeds U.K. Would that also be correct?

Correct there is no US immigration or customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate via the plane train.

    thanks Zap!

  • 8 Hour Layover
    Jan 12, 2016
Hello , I have an 8 Hour layover travelling from Kingston to Newark on Delta. Will i have enough time to see the city? How much time should I allot for security clearance on my way back into the airport?

That is enough time to take MARTA to downtown, walk around for a few hours, and then head back. I recommend leaving downtown 2.5 hours before your flight to Newark, arriving at ATL 2 hours before your flight.

I will only have hand luggage, do you feel this will be enough time to get through immigration, security etc and make my connecting flight. I appreciate any flight delay will affect this. Thanks

I am travelling from Washington Dulles airport to Grand rapids, MI. I have a 3 hour 41 minute layover in the ATL airport. My boyfriend lives in atlanta, and we were planning to meet up during my layover. What's the fastest way to meet up inside the airport? do i have to check out through security, and check back in? Can some one help me plan it out so i don't miss my connecting flight to Grand rapids? Thanks!

Yes you will have to take the Plane Train to the domestic terminal and exit the secure area to meet him and then go back through security when you're done.

I have a single flight reservation with Delta from Cayman Islands to Johannesburg, with a layover in Atlanta. Do I have to recheck my luggage on Atlanta, and will an hour and a half be enough time to get through customs, security etc?

Yes, in Atlanta you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. You should have just enough time.

Hi! I am travelling from Toronto (YYZ) and arriving at Atlanta airport at 10:20 PM with almost 13 hours layover time going to Manila (MNL) with a stop over in Narita (NRT). Any place to sleep inside the airport? Also do I need to claim my baggage at Atlanta or will they go straight to Manila? All flights are with Delta. Thanks.

Your bags should go straight through to Manila. Concourse F, which is where your Tokyo flight will depart anyway, is apparently the best place to sleep in the airport -

    Thank you :)

They are connecting SFO-ATL-MYR by Delta. For connecting flight, Is it going to be a same Concorse? They have about 2 hour layover. Is it going to be hard for youth to figure out this large airport? They have travelled with Southwest before by themselves.

The flights will probably not be the same concourse but they could be. The layout of the airport is fairly simple. It's just a series of hallways, all connected at the middle by the Plane Train. If they need to change concourses they just take the plane train between them. They should have plenty of time.

    Thank you.
