  • Switch from international to domestic terminal?
    Apr 17, 2017
If I am flying in from Costa Rica to Atlanta and then changing planes to Raleigh, NC do I have to change to a domestic terminal?

You don't actually change terminals. You will arrive in Concourse E/F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train directly to your departure concourse.

Hi – I have a three hour layover in Atlanta on my way to Madrid, and I'm wondering if I have enough time to Go outside to meet a family member. Not sure how long the security process takes. Thanks!

Security Lines in Atlanta can vary wildly from virtually no line to close to an hour. I personally wouldn't try it.

I will be arriving in Atlanta from Toronto, with my next flight to Lafayette only an hour later. Will I have to get my bags and go through customs before boarding my connecting flight?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I am flying from ATL to Detroit and then to China. Do I check in to the International Or Domestic area in Atlanta if it's not a direct flight to China?

Your plane to Detroit will leave from a Domestic gate. so you should probably check in at Domestic. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Going to Nassau. We will land in Atlanta at 940 out an hour later to Nassau will we go through customs in Atlanta or Nassau? Do we have time?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through Bahamanian Immigration and Customs in Nassau. If your first flight is domestic all you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • Why did Ihave to re-enter TSA check
    Jan 13, 2016
Upon my arrival from Dominican republic. My luggage was lost and I had a connecting flight to Tampa. I had to go in a long line and go through TSA check point to get back in the terminal

Yes, every time you enter the US after an international flight, if you are connecting to another flight, you have to go through security. This is true at every US airport.
