I am flying from cun to dtw with a layover in atl, is 90 minutes enough time to get thru customs and check back in both flights are southwest.

It's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • Turkish Airlines to Delta Airlines

On June 4, I will be travelling from Istanbul, on Turkish Airlines #31, scheduled to arrive at 7:05 pm. I have to connect with Delta #993, scheduled to depart at 8:52 pm. Will I have time to retrieve my luggage, go through customs, recheck my luggage and get my boarding pass in that time frame? Would it be faster if I carried on my luggage on the Turkish Air flight versus checking it? Delta and Turkish Air do not have a reciprocal luggage agreement. Thank you.

That is not realistically enough time with checked baggage. If you have carry-ons only and check in online for your Delta flight before leaving Istanbul, you can barely make it.

I will have a 21 inch suitcase which is carry- on size and could check in with a mobile app fr Istanbul. I will actually be flying from Izmir to Istanbul that morning on Turkish # 2317, scheduled to arrive in Istanbul at 12:30. Flight 31 leaves Istanbul at 2:05 pm. I am assuming that I can carry-on my luggage on flight 2317. How long does it typically take to go thru customs at Atl Hartsfield?

Immigration, customs, and security will probably take about an hour, maybe more if you're entering on a Visa.

Terminal S is Delta's part of the Domestic Terminal. Unless you are ending your trip in Atlanta you don't have to go there.

I will be flying from London to Atlanta with Virgin Atlantic and need to book a connecting flight to Asheville with Delta. How much time should I allow between flights?

If you're booking two separate reservations and you have checked bags you'll want 3 hours. Without checked bags or with it all on the same reservation, you can do 2 hours.

I will be taking a delta flight from San Francisco layover is ATL I have a map for delta terminals but they seem far apart. how do I get from North to south if I need to. I only have a 1 hour layover

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to take the plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse. You have enough time.

Hey, I'm flying from miami to Atlanta and then to Costa rica, i have an hour and half connection in atlanta before my flight to Costa Rica Flys. Do I need to claim my bag and drop it to Costa and do I need to go thru customs? Will I manage to do it in hour and half

There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. If all tickets are on the same reservation then all you have to do in Atlanta on your way to Costa Rica is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

Hi, I have a connection from jamaica arriving in atlanta at 13:03 on thursday and leaving for Amsterdam at 15:05. Both Delta bookings. If i don't make it through immigration in time does Delta put me on the next available flight? Thanks for any info you can offer.

Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, if you miss your connection Delta will put you on the next available flight to Amsterdam. There should be another one later that evening.

Hi I arrive in S terminal at 15.33 (Delta flight) and I need to make a 17.45 Virgin Atlantic flight leaving from the international terminal (no checked luggage). Is this enough time to get the connection train and clear security? Thanks!

You don't have to go through security or change terminals. You just have to take the plane train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart. You have plenty of time.

    Thank you!

I'm arriving to Atlanta from Baltimore BWI with Delta at 4.59pm and the have to catch a flight to Paris with Air France at 5.50pm. Both tickets were sold by Air France. Is 50 minutes enough for this connection? Will it help if I don't check any baggage? Thanks!

All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. You have enough time if your flight from BWI is on-time.

    Thank you!

Being an Indian, do I not have to do any immigration related thing at the point of US exit?

I will be arriving at ATL at 15.46 on a KLM flight operated by Delta Air Lines. My Delta airline connection departs to Medellin @ 17.30. 1. Is there enough time to make my connection 2. Will I need to go through USA security/customs

Where is your flight into Atlanta coming from? I can't answer your question without that information.

KLM Flight 6115 from Frankfurt, Germany

OK, that is Delta flight 15. You will arrive in concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Concourse E or F. You barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

OK, at least I know, thanks for your help

I have two delta flights booked: Charleston to ATL connecting ATL to Salt Lake City. I only have 40 minutes between the connecting flight, is that enough time and do I need to go through security again?

All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. You do not have to go through security in Atlanta. You have enough time if your flight from Charleston is on-time.

I will be flying from Pittsburgh to Atlanta then from Atlanta to cancun. Both flights are through Delta. Will I have to go through security again in Atlanta and recheck my bags. If so, how much time should I have between flights

No, you will not have to go through security or do anything with your bags in Atlanta on the way to Cancun. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Anything over an hour would be appropriate.

Will I need to gather my bags in the international terminal and check them in in the domestic terminal? Will two hours be enough time? It is all on a Delta ticket.

You can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in the international terminal immediately after clearing customs and then go through security and take the Plane Train directly to your departure concourse. There's no need to go to the domestic terminal.

Also you should have enough time.
