  • south terminal to MJackson Int term

we will be arriving on Delta south term. at 4:50 and departing from Maynard Jackson Int. term at 5:30. considering that gates usually close 20 early is doable?

You will not actually arrive at the south terminal. Delta domestic flights arrive at one of the several midfield concourses. They are all connected to each other, and to the International Concourses, by the plane train, which runs underground inside security. Gates do not usually close 20 minutes early. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time but you don't have much time to spare in case of delays.

    thank you for the info

  • Delta Connection Layover 58 minutes

My flight arrives at 7:41 and all it says is Domestic South Terminal ... but my connecting flight, also Delta, departs at 8:39 from Gate E34. By looking at the map, that appears to be at the complete opposite end of the airport. Assuming I deboard quickly, and don't have to go through any checks or customs (domestic flight), is that going to be do-able?

Actually, it looks like the plane comes in from an international flight at Gate E34, but it departs on my domestic flight from Domestic South. So I might be okay! Is it normal for flights to land at one gate, drop passengers, then move to another gate for a different departure?

No flights actually "come into" the domestic terminal South. All flights use the various midfield concourses. If your first flight is domestic, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All concourses are connected to each other by the plane train. You don't actually have to go to the Domestic terminal.

  • 90 min Connection Paris-ATL- Houston

Have done this before but with 2.5 hours to connect from what used to be International Term-E to Terms-A/B ... 20 SEP am arriving on DL69 CDG-ATL at 12:05pm. at Term F..and after US Customs will need to go to DL1489 departing from Term T...Concerned that 90 mins be not be enough as a Min-Con., but I had no choice...last available seat.....May have extra traffic due to the Air France Strike whiplash...I will appreciate any feed back! Thanks!

It's above the minimum connection time. This is a pretty slow season. I think as long as the first flight is on-time you'll be OK.

Where will I arrive in Atlanta from Toronto, Canada and where do I get connecting flight to Charlotte, NC (flying Delta/ExpressJet) Do I need to clear customs again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Your arrival into Atlanta will be like a domestic flight. Delta uses every concourse at ATL and all gates are connected inside security by the Plane Train.

Hi. US CBP has a faster way to get through customs. Mobile Passport is a free mobile app that lets you access an express line through passport control. Just make sure you enter your last name, then first and middle names exactly as in your passport! Mobile Passport is on iTunes and at www.mobilepassport.us.

  • TPA to ATL to Paris

Leaving TPA at 6:45pm and landing in ATL at 8:23pm for a connecting flight leaving ATL for Paris at 9:15pm. TPA to ATL is Air France operated by Delta AF-8661. ATL to Paris is the same Air France operated by Delta AF-689. Is this timeframe realistic? Many Thanks!

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you will depart. Note that AF689 is an actual Air France flight, it is not operated by Delta. Your Tampa-ATL flight will be operated by Delta though.

Hi, When you return via ATL, try US CBP's new express customs app at www.mobilepassport.us. Make sure you enter last name, and then first and middle names exactly as in passport. Let us know how it goes! www.mobilepassport.us

Making travel arrangements and want to check on ability to arrive ATL on AF8984 at 8:20 pm at terminal I and departing on AF2134 at 9:50 pm from terminal S. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flights will be operated by Delta. You won't actually have to go to the S Terminal. After clearing customs and re-checking your bags you will go through security and take the Plane train directly to your departure concourse.

Thanks! Can you tell me where we will recheck our bags for the Delta flight to Houston?

There will be a re-check desk immediately after you clear US Customs.

  • Clearing customs with connecting domestic flight

Will arrive ATL from Shannon, Ireland at 4:58 pm. Bags will have been checked. I have a domestic flight out of ATL at 7:05 pm. Will I have enough time to clear customs and make it to the domestic terminal in 2 hours?

Shannon has US Immigration and customs preclearance. Your arrival into ATL will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse.

  • International to Domestic Terminal BEFORE security

Hi. My boyfriends leave Atlanta for International destination 30 minutes before me. And I leave Atlanta for domestic destination. My question is : can I go with him to international terminal, stay with him for check in luggage etc till security check and then reach domestic terminal easily for my check in ? Or if we check in at our own terminal then is it doable to meet in the concourseS ? Is the sky train easy to find and use ? Thanks

You don't have enough time to go to the International Terminal. However it is possible that after you check in you can meet him in the E/F concourse. The Plane Train is easy to find as it is the ONLY way to get between concourses. It runs underground.

My son is flying to Brazil (Brasilia) via a connecting flight in ATL. Has one hour to make connection. He's never flown or been in an airport. Will he be able find signage easily to this plane train? I'm just a little nervous! Thanks!

It's very easy to find the plane train as it's the only way between concourses. All the signs will be pointing towards the other concourses. His flight to Brasilia will leave from Concourse E or F>

I am flying to St Lucia from Philadelphia with a connection in Atlanta. I will be arriving in domestic south terminal and leaving out of the international terminal. I have 64 minutes in between flights. Is this enough time? Do I need to re-check my checked bags or will they be transferred through?

You do not have to do anything with your bags in Atlanta. You will actually not arrive in the South Terminal. You will arrive at one of Delta's many midfield concourses T through D and depart from concourse E or F. All Concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train. You should have enough time.

  • 1hr 26mins layover enough?
    Aug 22, 2014

I'm planning to fly from Tampa to Singapore with Delta and the flight route is Tampa – Atlanta (1hr 26m layover) – Narita – Singapore. Is the 1hr 26m layover safe enough? I assume that since I'm flying Delta for all sectors, I will be able to check thru my lugguage from Tampa (so no need to wait for luggage). Will I have to go through Immigrations/Customs again at Atlanta? Would love to take this route instead of going Tampa – LAX (4hr layover), thank you in advance!

You do not have to go through US Immigration when you leave the US. All you have to do in Atlanta is take the plane train from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The only time you will have to go through Immigration on your trip is when you get to Singapore.

thank you for the info. Delta has since amended the next sector and now Atlanta layover is 1hr 10mins! Pray no delays - I should have enough time to disembark and make it for my next flight right? or should I leave tampa earlier and go for a 3 hour layover in atlanta just to be safe?

I have an upcoming transit from Domestic Arrival by Delta to International Departure to Dubai (emirates Airlines) with a layover time of 1Hr 18 mins. I am interested to find out if you made your connexion. Please educate.

Ek Musafir, what airport is this? Emirates doesn't fly to Atlanta.

flying into atlanta from pensacola, then connectiing to go to paris. to I pick up luggage to take to international airport to go through customs? or is the bagggage transfered to international automatically

No, you do not have to go through customs when you leave the United States. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • From Jamaica to ATL to RGA

I will be going to Washington from Jamaica and be connecting in ATL. There is a 2 hour layover. I will be arriving through international terminal and my next flight is through the domestic south terminal will I need to re check my bags and will I make it from one terminal to the next on time?

You do not have to change terminals. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then re-check your bags all right there. THen you will go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse. There's no need to actually go to the S Terminal.

  • Amsterdam - Atlanta - Costa Rica; 1,5 hour

We are coming from Amsterdam to Atlanta and arrive 16:33. We have a connecting flight from ATL to Costa Rica (San Jose) at 18:00. Will we be able to make it or do we need more time? Do we also have to recheck our checked bags? We fly both flights with Delta Air.

YEs, you will have to claim your bags, go through US Customs,a nd re-check your bags. You will then go through security and then to the departure area of the same concourses/gate areas where you arrived. You should barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi ZAP, thanks for your reply. In case we only take handbagage with us.. and our first flight is on time. Then should we be able to make it right?

    Yes, that should help
