I'm traveling with Delta from HOU to ATL arriving 1pm and have 53 minutes to make a connection to SFO. Is that enough time? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The plane train connects all concourses inside security.

  • Internationational Transit on Separate Tickets

We are arriving from Doha on Qatar Airways into ATL. Then, on a seperate ticket, we are catching a domestic Delta flight 3 hours later to DC. Since it is a separate ticket, do we have to collect the bags and go to Delta ticketing to get the Boarding passes? We are returning the same way. I assume we have to check in again at the international Terminal in ATL. Is that correct?

Yes, you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then take the shuttle bus to the Domestic S terminal, and re-check your bags and go through security. On the return you will have to claim your bags in the Domestic S terminal, then take the shuttle to the International Terminal, re-check your bags with Qatar Airways, and go through security. 3 hours is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I am traveling from MEX to ATL with DELTA and have a 1h 52min to my next flight to MAD with a KLM / DELTA flight. Do we need to pick up and check our bags again? Security line? Is it enough time? Thnx

1hr 52min Should be enough time & If everything is on the same reservation you should not have to recheck your bags. If it is on separate tickets you will have to recheck your bags.

Ignore Fly123. Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Oh, Oh! Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of success? Any tips? Thanks

Hi, My return flight on Delta from PUJ to SNA with 1 hr. 35 min. connect time in ATL. Is this enough time to clear customs?

That's just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

I will be arriving in atl at 8:30pm from Amsterdam and connecting to a delta flight to Kansas City. Will 2 hours and 11 minutes be enough time to go through customs, recheck baggage and go through security?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I am flying from MBJ to ROA via ATL on Delta at the end of August. I have a layover of 2 hours. I am not an American and have to go through the international immigration. Is that enough time to clear immigration, customs and security to catch my connecting flight?

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 56min in ATL on flight from DFW to AMS

I'll be flying from DFW to ATL with KLM (KL7320) and then from ATL to AMS with KML (KL622), both flights are on one ticket. The time between both of them is 56 min, will that be enough?

Your first flight will be on Delta. Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart via the Plane Train which connects all concourses inside security.

My husband will be arriving from New York at 10:34 pm and will need to fly out to New Orleans at 11:35 pm - how will he make sure his bags are on the flight to New Orleans does he have to go out and get them and then go thru security again? The tickets were purchased separately.

    What airlines is he flying?

He will be flying in on American Airplanes out on Delta

He can't make that connection with checked bags. He will have to go to the N side of the domestic terminal, claim his bags, take them to the S side, re-check them with Delta, then go through security. 1 hour is just not enough time to do all that. He can make the connection if he doesn't check a bag.

Ok thats we will see if some people he is coming in that isnt flying out can get his bags for him - Thanks so much

So I changed his flight to arrive at 6:00 pm on American Airlines - do you think he will have enough time to claim bags and go threw security if I changed his flight to the 9:30 delta flight or best to leave it at 11:35 delta to ensure enough time.

Yes, that would be plenty of time.

  • Is 4 hrs enough time

This is actually a follow-up question to a previous one . . . returning to ATL on an international flight on Turkish Airlines, is 4 hours enough time for a small group with checked baggage to collect bags, clear customs, and change terminals to connect with a Delta flight to MSY? Many thanks for any help again.

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

If there are 16 people are so traveling in our group and we are in the last stage of processing in ATL after completing an international flight, could we notify the gate that we are on the way? Would the connecting Delta flight to MSY delay just a little as a courtesy to allow our group to board especially since the flight is the last flight to MSY for that night? Thanks ZAP for your previous prompt response.

There's nobody at Delta to notify.

A small group with checked baggage will be traveling on Delta from MSY to connect with an international flight on Turkish Airlines. Is 4 hours enough time to collect bags, change terminals, and process through security and make the connecting flight? Thanks.

Yes, that should be enough time assuming your flight from New Orleans is on-time.

We depart Orlando and arrive Atlanta at 15.07. Due to fly with virgin to Manchester uk at 17.10 and have been told it's a through ticket. Will this be enough? Am I correct we don't need to collect hold luggage or go through security just go from one gate to next? Anyone know where gates are located? Thanks

Yes, you just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will likely arrive in concourse T, A, or B and depart from concourse E or F. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. You have plenty of time.

  • Carry on or check baggage

Arriving Atlanta from Denver at 7:33 pm to connect with flight to London at 8:40 pm (a Saturday). We were planning to carry on luggage. Since time is so short should we check our baggage at Denver? Will we need to go through TSA again with our luggage?

If everything is on the same reservation then you don't have to go through security in Atlanta. Just take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where your flight to London will depart. You have enough time.

  • 1:30 to clear customs?
    Jun 20, 2016

On my way back from Rio, I will have 1:30 mins to clear customs at 6:40 AM on on July 22 (a Friday). We had it planned so that we would have 2:10 mins to go through customs, but Delta has changed our flight time from Atlanta to Nashville. I will have to change terminals. Last May, on our way back from Paris via Atlanta, we barely made our connection. We had 2:30 hours then. I've heard that there are more agents working now. What do you think?

It'll be difficult. Also, arriving in the morning is much easier as there are far fewer international arrivals at that time. Also, you don't technically change terminals. You can go directly from the International Terminal where you clear customs and immigration to your departure concourse via the Plane Train. If you do miss your connection, since you arrive in the morning, you have lots of opportunities to be rebooked to Nashville.

I'm concerned because, when I arrived from Paris in Atlanta, it took us about 1:40 mins to go through passport control (I'm American), then security, then the train and our gate was, possibly, the farthest one from where we were. Since we have a 3 hour drive home once we get to Nashville (after a 9+ hour international flight and 1 hour connection), it would be a bummer to miss the original departure because TSA issues.

Immigration won't be nearly as busy early in the morning. Delta has 12 daily flights all on mainline planes between Atlanta and Nashville. If you miss your connection you should be able to be rebooked fairly quickly.

I am flying from AMS to MCO via ATL. Do i need to clear US customs and collect my luggage in ALT? I have 1.hr 35mins connecting time. It's that enough time

Yes, in Atlanta you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly. Delta has hourly flights from Atlanta to Orlando if you miss your connection.
