Making travel arrangements and want to check on ability to arrive ATL on AF8984 at 8:20 pm at terminal I and departing on AF2134 at 9:50 pm from terminal S. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flights will be operated by Delta. You won't actually have to go to the S Terminal. After clearing customs and re-checking your bags you will go through security and take the Plane train directly to your departure concourse.

Thanks! Can you tell me where we will recheck our bags for the Delta flight to Houston?

There will be a re-check desk immediately after you clear US Customs.

Will arrive ATL from Shannon, Ireland at 4:58 pm. Bags will have been checked. I have a domestic flight out of ATL at 7:05 pm. Will I have enough time to clear customs and make it to the domestic terminal in 2 hours?

Shannon has US Immigration and customs preclearance. Your arrival into ATL will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse.

  • International to Domestic Terminal BEFORE security

Hi. My boyfriends leave Atlanta for International destination 30 minutes before me. And I leave Atlanta for domestic destination. My question is : can I go with him to international terminal, stay with him for check in luggage etc till security check and then reach domestic terminal easily for my check in ? Or if we check in at our own terminal then is it doable to meet in the concourseS ? Is the sky train easy to find and use ? Thanks

You don't have enough time to go to the International Terminal. However it is possible that after you check in you can meet him in the E/F concourse. The Plane Train is easy to find as it is the ONLY way to get between concourses. It runs underground.

My son is flying to Brazil (Brasilia) via a connecting flight in ATL. Has one hour to make connection. He's never flown or been in an airport. Will he be able find signage easily to this plane train? I'm just a little nervous! Thanks!

It's very easy to find the plane train as it's the only way between concourses. All the signs will be pointing towards the other concourses. His flight to Brasilia will leave from Concourse E or F>

I am flying to St Lucia from Philadelphia with a connection in Atlanta. I will be arriving in domestic south terminal and leaving out of the international terminal. I have 64 minutes in between flights. Is this enough time? Do I need to re-check my checked bags or will they be transferred through?

You do not have to do anything with your bags in Atlanta. You will actually not arrive in the South Terminal. You will arrive at one of Delta's many midfield concourses T through D and depart from concourse E or F. All Concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train. You should have enough time.

  • 1hr 26mins layover enough?
    Aug 22, 2014

I'm planning to fly from Tampa to Singapore with Delta and the flight route is Tampa – Atlanta (1hr 26m layover) – Narita – Singapore. Is the 1hr 26m layover safe enough? I assume that since I'm flying Delta for all sectors, I will be able to check thru my lugguage from Tampa (so no need to wait for luggage). Will I have to go through Immigrations/Customs again at Atlanta? Would love to take this route instead of going Tampa – LAX (4hr layover), thank you in advance!

You do not have to go through US Immigration when you leave the US. All you have to do in Atlanta is take the plane train from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The only time you will have to go through Immigration on your trip is when you get to Singapore.

thank you for the info. Delta has since amended the next sector and now Atlanta layover is 1hr 10mins! Pray no delays - I should have enough time to disembark and make it for my next flight right? or should I leave tampa earlier and go for a 3 hour layover in atlanta just to be safe?

I have an upcoming transit from Domestic Arrival by Delta to International Departure to Dubai (emirates Airlines) with a layover time of 1Hr 18 mins. I am interested to find out if you made your connexion. Please educate.

Ek Musafir, what airport is this? Emirates doesn't fly to Atlanta.

flying into atlanta from pensacola, then connectiing to go to paris. to I pick up luggage to take to international airport to go through customs? or is the bagggage transfered to international automatically

No, you do not have to go through customs when you leave the United States. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • From Jamaica to ATL to RGA

I will be going to Washington from Jamaica and be connecting in ATL. There is a 2 hour layover. I will be arriving through international terminal and my next flight is through the domestic south terminal will I need to re check my bags and will I make it from one terminal to the next on time?

You do not have to change terminals. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then re-check your bags all right there. THen you will go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse. There's no need to actually go to the S Terminal.

  • Amsterdam - Atlanta - Costa Rica; 1,5 hour

We are coming from Amsterdam to Atlanta and arrive 16:33. We have a connecting flight from ATL to Costa Rica (San Jose) at 18:00. Will we be able to make it or do we need more time? Do we also have to recheck our checked bags? We fly both flights with Delta Air.

YEs, you will have to claim your bags, go through US Customs,a nd re-check your bags. You will then go through security and then to the departure area of the same concourses/gate areas where you arrived. You should barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi ZAP, thanks for your reply. In case we only take handbagage with us.. and our first flight is on time. Then should we be able to make it right?

    Yes, that should help

  • Connecting from Atlanta to Amsterdam

We are on DL 1052 coming from Milwaukee to Atlanta at 5:01. We have a connecting flight from ATL (on DL 238) to Amsterdam at 5:42. Will we be able to make it or do we need more time between flights?

It is doable as the Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. However it leaves very little room for any delays on your inbound flight. However, there are several later flights from Atlanta to Amsterdam that you can be reboked on if you miss your connection.

  • Connection from S Terminal to International

I am on an Air France flight (AF 2605) operated by Delta from Pittsburgh arriving Atlanta at 16:45 pm. I have a connecting flight to Madrid (AF 3627) at 18:07 pm from INTL Terminal. Can I get from S terminal to international terminal easily with one hour aprox. between flights? Do I have to recheck my checked bags?Thank you in advance for your help!

You do not arrive at the S Terminal, you will arrive at one of the domestic concourses, likely A, B, C, or D. You then just have to take the Plane Train to your departing flight in E/F. You do not have to go through security or do anything with your baggage.

We are on a Delta flight (DL 080) from Los Angeles arriving Atlanta at 04:47 pm. We have a connecting flight to Milan MPX (DL 074) at 5:45 pm from Terminal I. In less than an hour we will be able to get a connection?

Yes, you will take the plane train from your arrival concourse to Concourse E or F where your Milan flight will depart. The Plane Train runs inside security.

  • 1:48 International to Domestic connection
    Jun 2, 2014

I'll arrive from Brussels (DL81) on Saturday July 23 - 14:50 and have a 1:48 layover to catch the next flight to San Diego (also Delta, same reservation). It's my 4th time in the US so I start getting used to it, but this time I'll travel with my wife and our 3 kids 10-7-4, and it's my first time in ATL. I understand we'll arrive at either concourse E or F, and both terminals have CBP points. Do I have to claim and recheck my checked bags? I guess I have as this is our first stop in the US. But where is the baggage claim? Is it in Concourse F whatever the concourse I'll arrive too? For the international terminal this looks quite straight forward, but if we arrive in concourse E, we would: -clear CBP in concourse E -take the Plane Train to intl baggage claim in concourse F -claim our bags, clear customs, and recheck the bags -pass the security checkpoint (the international one?) -take the Plane Train to terminal A or T -find our gate and board on the plane to San Diego Does this sound correct? This definitely sounds challenging in 1:48 with the kids... Any tips to make it? -I've read it's better to get in the first car of the train - is this right? -Do we all have to claim the checked bags or 1 person is enough (the other ones could directly get to the domestic concourse for instance...) Many thanks
