  • London to Atlanta on VS, then on to MSY on DL

Hi, I'm travelling from London to Atlanta on Virgin Atlantic and have 1 hour 55 minutes to connect to a Delta flight from ATL to New Orleans. The flights are on separate bookings. I will need to clear immigration and am hoping to travel with cabin baggage only. Do you think this leaves me enough time? I will check in online for both flights.

Yes, without checked bags this is doable, as after customs you can go through security and directly to your departure gate on the Plane Train.

Thanks for your answer. It's now looking like I may not get everything I need to take into a cabin sized bag. I'm travelling transatlantic on premium economy, so my luggage should arrive (all being well!) fairly quickly on the carousel at Atlanta. Do you think there is enough time to drop a bag at Delta check in and make my connecting flight?

Do all Delta flight arrive and depart from the same concourse? We have a 37 minute layover on a flight from Key West to GRR.

Delta domestic flights use concourses T, A, B, and C.

I will be flying DXB-ATL-NYC next month and had a question about rechecking my bags at Hartsfield for my connecting flight. If my flight arrives at Concourse E, do I still claim my bag at Concourse F baggage claim, or is there a separate baggage claim at the CBP station on Concourse E? Thanks so much!

E and F basically share an immigration hall. Your bags will be in the hall you are funneled to.

This is probably a stupid question on my part, but this will be my first time flying internationally so I just want to make sure. Will be coming back from Jamaica through Atlanta on the way to Huntsville, AL. I've heard you have to re-check your bags after clearing customs in Atlanta before going to my connecting flight to Huntsville. Do I need to tell the ticket agent in Jamaica to only check my bag to Atlanta or will they check it all the way through to Huntsville and the baggage handlers in Atlanta will know to send it to the customs area first and not on to the next flight? Again, probably a stupid question on my part, and I'm sure I know the right answer, but just wanted to double check since this is my first time flying internationally and want to make sure the process is as smooth as possible. Thanks!

The bags will be tagged through to Huntsville and will come out on the belt in Atlanta. All bags on your flight from Jamaica will go straight to the belt, regardless of final destination.

    Sounds good. Thank you!

Hello we're flying with Delta from Brussels to Los Angeles with a 85 minute connection in Atlanta. We will have to change terminal but I don't know them yet. Will we have enough time to go through US Immigration and Customs and then change terminal ? Thanks.

You don't actually have to change terminals. You will arrive in the E or F gates, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. 85 minutes is 5 minutes less than the recommended time. If you do miss your connection Delta has lots of flights from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

  • Arriving from Aruba on Delta - 12hr layover with baggage

Hello I have a ticket on Delta from Aruba to DFW with a 12 hour layover in ATL. I arrive Terminal I and Leave Terminal S. Do I have to recheck my baggage n ATL? Also if I leave the airport how do I get back into Terminal S?

As long as both flights are the same day you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security by the Plane Train. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Aruba.

Thanks. The flights are not in the same day. I arrive ATL 7:30pm and leave the next morning to DFW at 7:30am. Will Delta hold my bags until the next flight or do I have to go to the baggage claim and leave the secure area?

No, in that case they will likely only check your bags through to Atlanta, but you can ask the agent in Aruba. If you do need to get your bags from the international terminal and do want to go straight to the domestic terminal (outside security), rather than to a hotel, there is a shuttle bus between them.

Thank you. Your response is very helpful.

Hi, I am flying from Memphis on June 18. at 5:12 and will be arriving in Atlanta at 7:44 and I will be arriving in Terminal South. My next flight is at 8:45 to Paris out of Terminal I. Do i have enough time and is there anything I should take notice of? Thank you

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you will depart. You should have plenty of time.

What about my baggage? Do I have to pick it up or do they take it to my next plane for me?

Your baggage will be transferred for you.

Hi, Im flying to Atl from MTL, it shows my flight arrives at Concourse D Im meeting with my wife who's arriving from SDQ at Terminal E. Where can we meet to take ground transportation together?

Where is MTL? Will either of you have checked bags? MTL is the code for Maitland, Australia. I doubt you're coming from there. Are you both on Delta?

No checked bags, MTL is from Montreal Canada and SDQ Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We are both on Delta.

Then you can meet her in the International Terminal at the exit of customs. Since you will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal, you will not have to go through Immigration and Customs in Atlanta.

Hi, we're flying from San Fran to Orlando with a 45 minute connection in Atlanta and looks like we will have to go from gate A to gate F (jusding by past flights). Is this enough time? I have heard yo have to go through security?

No, you do not have to go through security. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse. The Orlando flight should usually NOT leave from F as that is primarily an International concourse. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, I would like to know if we have to pass security or any check point when we have a flight transfer between Terminal I and S in Hartsfield Jackson (ATL) ?

Can you post where you are coming from and going to so I can help you better? Like where are you flying into Atlanta from and where are you going?

Coming into the us from a Caribbean country, do I go thru customs in Atlanta or my final airport?

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Atlanta, unless you are coming from Nassau, Freeport, Bermuda, or Aruba, in which case you will go through US Immigration and Customs on the island and your arrival into Atlanta will be like a domestic flight.

In June I will be 24 weeks pregnant with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I'm connecting from South Bend to Fort Meyers and I have a 45 min layover, will I have time to make the connection without requesting help from a motorized cart?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse. You unfortunately won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight.

Arriving a Sunday at 1420 to Atlanta, will I connect with Delta 1505 to Amsterdam?

Do you mean you are arriving at 2:20 PM and departing at 3:05 PM? If so, yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you will depart.
