four of us in our late 20s all in relatively good shape need to get from concourse A to E in 1 hour 18min my question to you is would walking be faster than taking the plane train that stops a few times?

Unless you are an NCAA middle-distance runner looking to get some work in, the train is the way to go.

thanks that was the answer I was looking for!

I have 45 minutes between a domestic delta flight and international do I have to recheck my bags and is 45 minutes enough time?

No, you do not have to re-check your bag on your way out of the US. You should have enough time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I only have 36 minutes to get to this connecting flight. Both in US and both Delta. Is this enough time?

You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I am booking return flights from Orlando back to the UK, with a short connection in Atlanta (Delta flight). However I only have 56 minutes between flights. Do I have to recheck baggage and go through customs and immigration? How long does this take? The flight from Atlanta to the UK (Manchester) is Virgin Atlantic.

All you have to do in Atlanta on your way back to the UK is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. 56 mins is enough time.

Hello, In Atlanta we arrive in a domestic terminal and have to catch an international flight from either Concourse E or F. We have 80 minutes. I understand we can use the plane train to move between concourses, however will we have to go through any security checks again from domestic to international. I am hoping we just hop off our plane and hop onto the connecting flight no checks. I appreciate your effort in responding. :)

You will not have to go through security. All you have to do is take the train from your arriving concourse to your departing concourse.

Thank you very much - it seemed such an easy question, but the answer was hard to find online. Have a great day! I am actually going to sleep better tonight. :)

  • Do I have enough time?

Hi, I am travelling from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale with Delta airlines, switching at Atlanta. My flight gets in at 14.25 at terminal I and the next flight leaves from terminal S at 16.00 giving me just 1hr 35 mins between flights. I will need to go through US immigration too. Will I need to collect my bag and re-check? Does this give me enough time? Thanks

You will arrive in concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bag, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. You have enough time.

Is 1 and a half hours enough time to collect bags from Virgin Atlantic and then check in to Frontier for a domestic flight? Is there a check-in counter after you cleared immigration/customs or do you have to go all the way back to the front desks? I will be flying Virgin upper, so my bags should come out first. Thanks for any advice.

That is not enough time. There is no Frontier check-in counter in the International Terminal. You will have to take the shuttle bus from the International Terminal to the Domestic Terminal where the Frontier check-in desk is. You should book a later flight on a different airline.

We have an incoming Delta flight from Dulles with 52 minutes to make a connection to Indy also on Delta. Is that enough time to make the connection?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

I'm flying back from the Bahamas with a connecting flight in Atlanta. I'm not checking any luggage. I have 3 hours from the time I land to my next flight. Do I have to go through customs or anything in Atlanta or will I go through in my final destination city?

If you are coming from Nassau or Freeport you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in the Bahamas and your arrival into Atlanta will be like a domestic flight and you will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you are flying from Exuma/Georgetown you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security in Atlanta before your connecting flight.

We arrive in terminal b at 9:17 and leave out of the international terminal at 10:07 will we have enough time group of 12 will they hold the plane for that large if a group

B is a concourse not a terminal. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. Yes, you should have plenty of time. They may hold the flight a few minutes, but not indefinitely.

  • International Arrival with Domestic Connection

I am looking at a Delta flight from CDG scheduled to arrive at 8:30pm on a Thursday. My domestic connection would be at 10:00pm and is the last flight out that night to my final destination. All my research indicates it is doable depending on planes, staff, ontime arrival from CDG. Thoughts?

It should be possible but leaves very little room to spare in case of a delay.

From South Bend, Ind we arrive in ATL at 10:06am and have to catch flight to Dominican Republic at 10:55am. I am very concerned about the limited time and know how big the airport is. Please advise. Any special directions that may help?

Just make your way to the plane train as soon as possible after you arrive. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. You will depart from concourse E or F.

Hi Flying from London UK to ATL on British Airways then connection to Miami with American Airlines. I have 2.5 hrs from landing to taking off, is this enough time? Do I need to get my bags and recheck them in? Am I correct in saying I need to get the sky plane? Thanks

You will arrive in Terminal E/F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the Plane Train all the way to the T gates where your AA flight to Miami will depart.

Also, you should have enough time.

That's great thanks for your help 😊

I am booking flights from UK to Costa rica, with a short stopover in Atlanta. On the return journey I have the option of a 1 hr 36 stopover or a 5 hour stopover. Do I have to recheck baggage and go through customs and immigration? How long does this take? The flight is with delta but operated by Virgin Atlantic.

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim bags, go through US Customs, recheck bags, and go through security in Atlanta both ways. 1 hr 36 minutes should be enough time.

Thanks. I've read elsewhere that it takes 2 hours minimum. I would much rather be safe than sorry..... Is that the system for any international flight then? I'm particularly surprised about the bag re-check? Is this standard in the states even when it's all with one airline?

There are three airports in the US where you do not have to claim and re-check your bags if you are on an International-to-International connection (Houston, Dallas, and Miami). However, all passengers arriving in the US, even if they are connecting elsewhere have to go through US Immigration and Customs. I think 96 minutes is enough at ATL, everything international is very self contained there so you won't have to walk far.

Thank you. Is the different advice to the Montego Bay to Zurich post below due to having to change terminals then?

I told him he had enough time. he decided not to do it.

Slightly confused. Re the other flight you said 'you will barely have enough time if your flight is on time'. is that not the same advice for my scenario.

I don't know what the confusion is - in both cases it is enough time, but barely.
