  • San Jose, Costa Rica - ATL - Dulles

A group of us is flying from San Jose, Costa Rica to Atlanta and will then be flying to Dulles. We only have an hour and forty minute long layover. Our tickets were all purchased on one reservation. Will we need to go through customs, immigration, recheck our bags, AND go through security before catching our final flight?? Will we have enough time?? We are starting to get worried reading some of these other posts. If so, is there a way to fast-track this?

I should also add that we have three US citizens and two Costa Rican citizens, one of them a minor. Will that make it more difficult?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. There are no fast-track lines. It will be easier for the US citizens than the Costa Rican citizens.

We are coming from Cancun to Atlanta. Transferring from Atlanta to PHL. Saturday eve arrive ATL at 5:20 and departing 7:10. We will need to go through customs... will we need to recheck our bags? Will we make the connection. Southwest is the airline... I am very nervous to book and miss the flight there will be a group of us.Thanks

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. If you miss the connection you may be stuck in Atlanta overnight.

I am arriving from London at 17:15 and leaving on Southwest at 19:40. Is this enough time to make the connection?

With checked bags, no, that is not enough time as you will have to take the shuttle to the domestic terminal, check your bags, and then go through the long security lines in the domestic terminal.

Hello, I am travelling to Denver Colorado from London Heathrow on Wednesday 25th of May and have a stop over in Atlanta. I land in Atlanta at 13:55 and my connection to Denver is at 15:24. Please could you tell me exactly what I need to do when getting off the plane please in regards to getting my luggage etc. Also, is this enough time to get my connection? If not I am unsure what to do as Delta airways scheduled the connection. Thank you

I should probably have added that I land I in Atlanta terminal l and depart to Denver from terminal s . Do I need to go through security in ATL if both flights are with delta?

YOu will arrive in the E/F concourse, go through US Immigration, caim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse. This is a difficult connection but it is possible if everything goes smoothly.

My flight will arrive from Brazil at 06:45AM and the connection to San Fco departs 08:15AM, so it will be 1h 30m. How could Delta sold me a connection like this? Any shortcut? Or a fast lane... ?

With the early morning arrival I think you can make this. Yours will be one of the only flights arriving in the International Terminal at that time.

I am looking at Delta flights arriving from Appleton, WI at 9:05 and departing ATL to Cancun at 9:45 (40 minute layover). Is this doable or should I take a later flight? TIA.

It's possible, but it leaves no time to spare if the flight from Appleton is delayed.

This is to go with my last post. I'm flying from MKE to RSW with a stop in ATL. I only have a 46 minute layover. Flying in to Concourse B and out of E. Will I have time? Is there a tram?

I only have a 46 minute layover to make my connecting flight. Looks like I come in at Concourse B and go out of E. Will I make it? Is there a tram of sorts?

Yes, the plane train connects all concourses at their middle inside security. You should have enough time.

Hi - sorry if this has been asked before. I will be traveling on Delta from Rome, back home to NYC, changing flights in ATL. Will I have to go thru customs and then back thru security to get to my next flight? Also, will my bags travel to the next plane or do I have to get them and re-check? I am business and pre-check but have been worried about the lines and making the connection (I have a little more than an hour). Thank you

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse.

  • Connection time for flight to Amsterdam

Hi, I fly from New Orleans on Tuesday 7th June and arrive in Atlanta at 21.47. I have a connecting KLM flight to Amsterdam leaving at 22.30. Can I make the connection in the 43 minutes?

It is possible. All you have to do is go from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse via the plane train. It obviously leaves little time to spare if the flight from New Orleans is delayed.

  • Sufficient connection time?
    May 24, 2016

Hi, I arrive on a Thursday from Amsterdam at 14.07 with a connecting flight to New Orleans at 15.55. Is the 1 hour 48 minutes sufficient time to catch my connection (with a UK passport and checked luggage)?

That is a very difficult connection. If you do miss it, Delta has frequent flights from Atlanta to New Orleans that you can be rebooked on.

We fly out of Atlanta, going to MO in about two weeks. Early morning flight on a Saturday. How much time should we allow for security and lines?

  • Connection time 1h40 - any hope?

Hi, We will be flying Delta in August from Frankfurt to New York with a layover in Atlanta. This is all on a single ticket. Our plane from Frankfurt arrives at 15:46 in Atlanta, Terminal I (or 1?). The plane to New York departs at 17:25 from Terminal S. So, we have 1h40 min. Is there any hope for us to catch the NY plane? If we have checked luggage from Frankfurt, will we have to claim it in Atlanta and recheck it for the NY flight? Will we have to go through security again? Thank you! Best Regards, Bogdan

you have a chance you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and take the Plane Train directly to your departure concourse (no need to go to the domestic terminal).

Flying Delta from ORD to EZE, Buenos Aires with a stop in ATL. Layover time is 1 hour and 3 minutes. How long will it take to get from my arrival terminal to my departure terminal?

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to take the plane train from your arrival concourse to Concourse E or F where you depart. You have enough time.
