Hi I am thinking of flying From Sarasota to Atlanta with a 41 minute layover to Columbia SC on Delta. I am wondering if I will have sufficient time to make the second flight. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

My Delta flight from Quito Ecuador is due into ATL at 5:46 am. My Delta flight to New Orleans is due out at 7:50 am will I have enough time to do all the checks, re-check one piece of luggage and make the connecting flight on time?

    Yes, that is enough time.

Thank you. After an overnight flight, I want the connection to go as smoothly as possible. Appreciate your reassurance.

We are flying Southwest, with a 3hr 20min layover in Atlanta before our flight to Columbus departs. Will we have enough time to go through customs, re-check our bags, go through security and make it to our connecting flight on time?

    Yes, that is enough time.

We have a 1 hr 50 min layover in Atlanta coming in from Johannesburg and going on to Nashville. We have Global Entry and only carry-on bags. Do we have enough time to make our connection to Nashville?

Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Johannesburg is on-time.

I'm flying in from Manchester UK (virgin) and traveling on to Jackson WY with Delta we have 1:45mins is thus enough time?. Also the only checked baggage is oversize (snowboard bags). What do we have to with these?

You will arrive in Concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. Oversize bags will just be on a different baggage claim but are otherwise treated the same. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Concerned about customs and connecting flight--help!!

Last year we flew from the Cayman Islands to Detroit via ATL. We had a rough time getting through security after customs and immigration and made our flight with 10 seconds to spare. This year we booked the same flight, and were assured that wasn't the norm. However my parents came through ATL from Barbados tonight and were in customs/immigration/security for 2.5 HOURS. We will have two small kids along, and waiting that long will be beyond miserable with them, not to mention we only have 1 hour and 45 minutes to make our flight to Detroit. Everything is booked, or I would just change our flight right now. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

There's not much you can do, just hope for the best.

What can one expect at ATL when flying from Amsterdam to Nassau on a through ticket? Do you have to go through immigration and/or reclaim bags etc.

Yes, you will arrive in Concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Enough Time + Best Way to Get to Other Gate

My daughter is flying into ATL from ORD arriving around 10:15 into gate E26. She then is catching a flight from gate F4 departing at 11 am (international). What's the best way to get to the other gate? The maps aren't really clear. Will she have to go through security again to get to Terminal F? We know it's a tight connection but she'll be checking her luggage in ORD. TIA!

She won't have to go through security again. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. She has enough time if the first flight is on-time.

So the best way to get from E to F is the plane train? Not to walk? This is first time traveling by herself and we've never been to the ATL airport so we're just trying to cover all of the bases. Thanks.

You can do either. It doesn't make much difference.

I'm travelling from Chicago to Atlanta to Brussels in March and then back again. I have a layover on the way there of 1 1/2 hours and on the way back of just under 2 hours. All on one ticket. Do I have enough time to make my connecting flights?

Yes, that is enough time. On the way there all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate on the Plane Train. On the way back you will arrive in Concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse.

  • Connecting flight between Amsterdam and Atlanta

Hi there! I just booked my ticket to Liberia from Zurich via Amsterdam and Atlanta with Delta. Would you please tell me if I need any of the visas to get through transfer desk in Atlanta (I am European) and do I need to go through all "checkin, claim baggage and checkin again" procedure if our flight arrives at around 14.50 and leaves around 17.50? Best Regards, Sabina

If you are a Swiss citizen you just need ESTA to transit the USA, you don't need a visa. And yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go to your departure gate. You have enough time.

ZAP, thank you for your answer. I am actually a polish citizen and my boyfriend is german. Is the ESTA visa still enough? Also on the way back we need to stop over for a night in Los Angeles. Do we need to get another ESTA or some other type of papers? Best Regards, Sabina

Hi, I normally fly via Dublin where I can do immigration pre-check, but this time it was much cheaper via Manchester in England, which has no pre-check yet. Flying with Virgin Atlantic. Does anyone know the process upon arrival at Atlanta? Will it be a case the bags will pass through automatically? And what Terminal and what average wait time for immigration at Atlanta? I have 2 hours between connections all being well. Many thanks for the help!

In Arrival you will arrive in Concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. You should have enough time.

    Much appreciated!

Hello friends, will arrive from AMS in JUne at 1411, and connect at ATL to MCO at 1600. Is that a tight connection or am I good?

Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I am flying United Airways. Leaving from Atl and going to Mexico City but we have a layover in Houston. Will my flight leave from the international or domestic terminal?

United only a has a check-in counter in the North side of the domestic terminal, so that is where you check in. Also you will connect at IAH, not HOU (HOU is a different airport in Houston).

Flight to ATL lands at 3:26pm, leaves out of Southwest Airlines at 4:50pm - is 1hr and 20min enough time to get through customs/claim bags/etc?

You have absolutely Zero chance of making that. After you claim your bags and go through Customs, you will have to take a shuttle to the domestic terminal to re-check them with Southwest, and then go through security and to your departure gate. You need at least 3 hours.

Arrive Delta from GNV at 11:25a, connecting flight to JFK starts boarding at 11:30a, Can't find info on how close the gates are.

You won't know the gates until the day of your flight. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.
