  • Montreal transiting through Atlanta to Buenos Aires, Argentina
    Nov 30, 2015
I am holder of a Canadian passport, I will have a Delta flight from Montreal to Atlanta, then transit to another Delta flight from Atlanta to Buenos Aires, Argentina, the layover time is only about 1 hour 15 minutes. Will my bags be checked through all the way to Buenos Aires from my departure airport (Montreal) or will I have to pick it up in Atlanta, go through Customs and Immigration then dump my bags on the conveyor belt? In 1 hour 15 mins of layover time, will I make it ?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Atlanta on your way to Buenos Aires is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security by the Plane Train.

Enough time? Arriving in Atlanta at 4:00am and leaving on KLM to Amsterdam at 5:55am. ArrIval is at terminal A and departure is at terminal F I think.

Please double check your itinerary - there are no early morning departures from Atlanta to Amsterdam.

DUH!! It is arriving in Atlanta at 3:02pm and leaving forAmsterdam on KLM at 4:00pm. Thanks for he quick response.

Yes, that is enough time. You actually won't know your arrival concourse until the day of your flight, but all concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train and all you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Connect from international to domestic on different reservations
    Nov 29, 2015
If I fly in from Europe to ATL on Delta returning from a round trip reservation, but then catching a later domestic Delta flight on its own one-way reservation, should I handle this as if I am an Atlanta bound passenger? I would go thru customs, get my checked bag from International baggage claim, then re-enter the airport to go thru Delta bag check, security, etc. just as if I am on a new flight that day? I would leave plenty of time between flights. I am assuming that Delta would not check me thru the second reservation when I leave Europe, or that I should not trust them to do that.

Yes, you are correct. There is a chance that at your origin in Europe you can show your second Delta confirmation to the agent and have your bags tagged through to your final destination, which would mean you can use the re-check desk in the International Terminal. However, be prepared to have to take the shuttle from the International Terminal to the domestic terminal to re-check your bag and go through security. In which case I would leave 3 hours between flights.

Thanks, my main concern is knowing which immigration & customs path to take when arriving in E or F, the one for ATL terminating passengers, or for domestic connections to be sure to not get separated from my luggage.

If your bags are checked through you will follow the signs for connecting passengers. If not you will follow the signs for terminating passengers.

  • I arrive from IND with a 55 minute connection to Gainesville.
    Nov 25, 2015
I have a first flight out in the morning with a 8:35 am flight to Gainesville. Are they in the same terminal? No luggage: packing light. How can I find out which gate is assigned for arrival and departure?

ATL has a series of gate concourses that are all connected in the middle inside security by the Plane Train which runs underground. You may arrive and depart from different concourses. You can look up your gates on or the Delta app the day of your flight. You have enough time.

  • change planes
    Nov 25, 2015
Purchased well spaced flights and delta changed the times now: Flight arriving into ATL at 8:37 (gate arrival) and next flight taking off at 9:05. Going from gate A18 to C47. Feasible?

    typo its 8:27 arrival.

Yes, that should be enough time. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • Terminal S
    Nov 25, 2015
I'm arriving on a Delta flight tomorrow at Terminal S and connecting out of S, but I don't see a Terminal S on the map. Is that right?

"S" is just a term Delta uses for their domestic check in area. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

i have a 40 minute connection in the early am on a monday,is that enough time to change planes?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time, which early morning flights usually are. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • transfertime
    Nov 24, 2015
Hi, we will arrive on friday with two little children from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale with a stopover at Atlanta. Our transfer time will be 1:55. Is this enough time?

That should be enough time if your flight from Amsterdam is on-time. You will arrive in the E or F concourse, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse.

  • PIT - ATL - SJO connection query
    Nov 23, 2015
Greetings - I am arriving from PIT at 8:30 am and have a 9:50 departure for SJO at 9:50 am. Assuming on-time arrival, enough time for getting between concourses? Thank you so much for this service!

That is plenty of time. It shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to get to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • Nashville (BNA) to Panama City Beach thru ATL
    Nov 22, 2015
Hi. Flight is scheduled to arrive @ 9:02pm and leave for PCB @ 9:56pm. I am not sure in which terminals I will be arriving and departing. Will there be enough time to connect if both flights are on time? Thanks! P

This will be on the 25th if that matters

No terminal change is required. However, you may have to change concourses. All concourses are connected inside security by the plane train. You have enough time as long as the flight from Nashville is on-time. BTW the airport code for Panama City Beach is ECP.

  • Traveling from Panama PTY to Orlando via Atlanta
    Nov 22, 2015
Hi, we are traveling from Panama PTY to Orlando with a stop of 1.30hrs, would that be enough to go thru immigration and customs?

That's the minimum International to Domestic connection time at ATL. Delta flies hourly flights from Atlanta to Orlando, so if you haven't booked yet, I'd book a flight an hour later, but if you already have and you miss your connection, you will probably be able to be rebooked.

can next flight be notified i'm in airport and but a few minutes away from boarding?

The gate agent for your flight has a list of all inbound connecting passengers and the status of their flights on the computer at the gate.

  • Enough layover time
    Nov 20, 2015
Hi--I will be traveling with my husband, 2 kids plus checked luggage from Johannesburg to Atlanta, then connecting to Cincinnati. My options are 1:20 layover or 3:35 layover. Neither is ideal--the first is tight with clearing customs and rechecking luggage, the second is pretty long for two exhausted kids who just want to get home. What would you recommend?

1:20 would not be possible. Go with the 3:35.

    Thanks for the advice!

  • Enough time for layover?
    Nov 18, 2015
We are travelling from Montreal(YUL) to FLL with a layover over in ATL around Christmas, December 27 to be exact. We have a layover of 2h5minutes, will that be enough?

That should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.
