Hi, I'm due to fly into Atlanta with Delta from Amsterdam with a domestic connection also with Delta to Tampa. When I booked I allowed 2hrs 20mins for immigration, collect & recheck baggage & then find our way to next gate/terminal. My connecting flight has been cancelled & we've been rebooked on a flight with only 1hr 35mins connection. I'm guessing they'll close gate approx 30mins prior to departure so realistically looking at 1hr & that's if we leave Amsterdam on time. We also need special assistance for my elderly father who will be in a wheelchair: I've never flown into Atlanta, is this doable?
They do not close the door 30 minutes early on domestic flights. It is doable. However, there are hourly flights from Atlanta to Tampa. You can just call Delta and ask for a later one instead of the one they rebooked you on.
Arriving on Delta; time needed to make connection on Virgin air flight to London.
If both flights are on the same reservation, 60 minutes is sufficient. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.
are delta and virgin international flights in different concourses in ATLANTA AIRPORT ?
Yes, the Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. Delta uses every concourse. Virgin Atlantic uses F.
Flying nonstop from Atl to Exuma (GGT). Should I go directly to the International Terminal or go through the main terminal on the West End?
You go to the International Terminal.
I have a flight from cairo to paris then from paris to atlanta then from atlanta to tampa, as I know I should receive my luggage at the final destination which is tampa, is that correct ? and I have to go from terminal I to terminal S at atlanta tho the layover is just 1hour 30mins, is that enough time ?
That is incorrect. In Atlanta you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
But they are all on the same ticket
We are on a Delta flight from Richmond to Atlanta, Layover is 1 hr,6m, Virgin Atlantic flight to London-Heathrow. Flights were booked months ago, just now checking the details. Can we make this connection?
Yes, you have enough time. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart.
I will be on a domestic flight arriving at ATL and need to connect an international flight and I only have 1 hour and 25 mins. I will be on Delta for the domestic flight on a codeshare with the international flight. So I don't think I don't have to recheck my bag. I think I can make it as long as I don't have to go through the security again at the international flight. Do you know if there is an additional security check when I go from Terminal S to Terminal I? If so, will I be able to make it?
Yes, you have enough time. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart.
I will be arriving in Atlanta from LHR on a Delta flight on a Tuesday afternoon at about 1:49pm and need to make a domestic Delta connection that departs at 3:26pm. I have TSA Pre-Check, which may (or may or may not) speed up the security process once I get to the security check. I have not flown through Atlanta in many years so I am concerned about making the connection a tree reading some of the responses here. Is less than two hours sufficient to make my connection mid-day on a Tuesday? Does Delta have a dedicated domestic terminal in Atlanta or could my connection depart from any of them? Thanks for any guidance and information you can provide.
There is no Pre-check line at the line after clearing customs. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. You don't actually have to go to the domestic terminal. After you clear customs, you go through security and take the Plane Train directly to your departure concourse.
I'm flying in on Virgin Atlantic from LHR in at 330pm connecting to a Delta domestic flight at 545pm (small plane) to CRW (Charleston WV). I have to collect my bags and re-check. I have 2 hours and 15 mins. to hopefully do this scenario. I have Global Entry, as well, in Upper Class on Virgin, will this help me cut my time in Atlanta? Should I be able to do this connection? Thanks so much......
Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks so much
Global Entry will speed up the process. They have a lot of Global Entry kiosks in ATL but some out of order. Our last Delta international flight did not have TSA Pre-check on the boarding pass returning to the US for a domestic connection. After clearing customs we went to a Delta ticket kiosk and re-printed our boarding passes so that they would have TSA pre-check. You then go to a different security area that has a TSA Pre check line. Ask security for directions to TSA Pre-check check point.
Thank you for your response. Delta dropped the 545pm flight from ATL to CRW. I now have a flight at 819pm which gives me almost 5 hours to connect. Thanks for the insight on Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check, nice to know.
Delta is trying to sell us a connection DL 5359 arriving at 8:51am from Montreal -> DL 849 leaving 10:10am to Tegucigalpa.
Is this doable? Will we have to recheck our luggage? Would we get paid a hotel if we miss the connection flight? (Because I think there is only 1 Delta flight to Honduras per day)
Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal so all you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Can I ride the underground train from the domestic terminal to the international terminal for a departure flight?
Yes, you can
