We are flying into the ATL from Texas at 10 am, and have a 9-hour layover before departing to DUS, Germany. If we decide to leave the airport to visit family how early do we need to be back at the airport? Also, where would we re-enter the airport at to get to the international terminal.
I would want to be back at the airport 2.5 hours before your flight. If you take MARTA you have to take a shuttle bus to the International Terminal, if you take a car, then the International Terminal is accessible off of I-75 (not I-85 like the domestic terminal)
Flew out of international terminal where car is parked, coming back thru domestic terminal. need to claim checked bag and then get back to intl terminal to pick up car. How is this done?
There is a shuttle located by ground transportation near the MARTA station that goes between the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal.
Hi there,

We have flights already booked out of Atlanta to London Heathrow at 7.30pm. We're intending to get a separate internal flight to either New Orleans or Miami/Key West for a few days (still deciding... any tips on that also gratefully received!) - what time should we aim to get back into Atlanta airport in order to recheck our baggage and make it to our flight on time? The flights I'm currently looking at would allow around 2 hours 40 minutes, assuming the flight is on time. Is that too tight?

Thanks in advance!
2 Hrs 40 mins is cutting it pretty close. I would want over 3 hours, considering you'll have to claim your bags in the Domestic Terminal, then take the shuttle to the International Terminal and re-check your bags and go through security.
Ok thanks! Will look into an earlier flight.Have only really ever done this on one ticket before where the bags are checked all the way through, so wasn't sure.
Traveling from ATL to Punta Cana, how do I find out where my terminals are? I only have 1 hour to get to the connecting flight
Where are you flying into Atlanta from? what airlines are you flying?
Richmond and delta! Im having trouble figuring it out on the map!
All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse (likely A, B, or C) to your departure concourse (E or F) and board your flight. You have enough time if the flight from Richmond is on-time.
Flying from MSP to Belize with a connecting flight in Atlanta.
We only have 50 minutes, is this enough time?
Yes, that is enough time if the flight from MSP is on-time. You just have to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where you depart and board your flight.
Which terminal do I check in at for int'l flight to cancun? Is there a sw check in attheinternational terminal in atlanta?
If you are flying Southwest you check in at the domestic N Terminal, even if you are flying to Cancun. Southwest does not have a counter in the International Terminal.
Flying from Manchester UK to Mexico with a 3hr layover in ATL, Do I have to collect my baggage in ATL and recheck them in? Flying with virgin airlines and then Delta.
You have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.
I am scheduled to arrive in ATL at 18:40 with Delta leaving for LHR at 19:25 with Virgin, is this sufficient time?
Yes, that is just enough time if the flight from Miami is on-time. You need to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse E or F and board the flight.
Has anyone experience, time etc needed. We arrive Atlanta 13.55 from Dublin and are booked on flight to Orlando at 16.00. Do we go through immigration at Atlanta?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate on the Plane Train. You have plenty of time.
Hi I will be arriving in Atlanta at 3:30 and my next flight to TPA is at 4:45 and I need to transfer terminals. What is the best course of action? (January 15)
YOu will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate on the Plane Train. You have enough time.
