I'm connecting thru ATL for a flight to mexico. Will i have to go thru security again to get to international departures?
No, you shouldn't have to if both flights are on the same reservation and the first flight is domestic.
Hi all,

We land at Atlanta at 14:55 from the UK and depart at 17:20 to Cancun. I'm a little confused when reading the comments from people with similar issues.

I have a 1 year old to manage aswell, can anyone explain how our baggage/security works please.

Thanks

Jack
In Atlanta you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I am flying with Delta from Mexico with a 2 hour layover in Atlanta and then onto London UK with Virgin Atlantic. Will I have to collect my luggage and go through security again in Atlanta? Will 2 hours allow enough time?
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security, and go to your departure gate.
Also that's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
We came from RDU and didn't have to go through security for a second time. We walked from D to F. Though it's a good jaunt, taking the train may cost you more time and may cause you to go through security again
AMC, you didn't have to go through security because you were going Domestic -> International, not the other way around.
what do you mean go from domestic to international? I will be flying from OKC to Atlanta and have a 43 minute layover in atlanta. We then are traveling from Atlanta to Cancun. We reserved through delta so that is what both flights will be.
I fly domestically into atl and have to take e train to international terminal. The last time I had to go through security a second time. Is at still the same. I am concerned as I have a 45 minute connection time. Thanks
If you had to go through security again you did it wrong or you were going the other way (international to domestic). Going from Domestic to International on the plane train you do NOT have to go through security. You can take the Plane Train directly to your international departure concourse. 45 minutes is enough time but doesn't leave much to spare.
We flew in from RDU and had to change terminals to fly out of the international terminal to Heathrow. We took the train. At the top of the escalator there was another screening of luggage. It was in October 2016. Odd.
Perhaps you actually exited the secure area by accident.
No he is correct. The train takes you to F (international terminal) but once you get up top you are outside secure area. But no worries intl security line is fast. Atl is busy but they move 100 million people a year very well
To avoid security you could take the train to E and walk to your gate in F.
We didn't have to...But we walked instead of taking train
Hello all, I will have 60 minutes layover to catch my flight to Dusseldorf, coming from STT (Virgin Islands) will that be possible?
Yes, that is enough time. Flights from the US Virgin Islands to the mainland are considered domestic flights, so all you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Many thanks
Hey everyone, I'm flying from MIA to ILM with a 54 minute layover in ATL. I land in ATL at 8:07am and depart at 9:01am (both flights are Delta). I've heard ATL is a super busy airport so I was just wondering if anyone has any tips? I'm a little worried the layover might be too short. Which terminal would I most likely arrive at and depart from?
All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. Delta uses all concourses, but your flights will likely be in A, B, or C.
So if we use the Plane Train we don't have the go through security again, correct?
Yes, that is correct.
Ok, thank you so much!!!
Hi! We will be arriving on the BA flight from LHR, scheduled to arrive at 20:10. All three of us will have Global Entry. We are considering purchasing tickets for the ATL to DFW on DL at 22:30. Is 2 hours and 20 minutes enough time? Will we have to change terminals with our bags, or will be be able to check them in and get our boarding passes in the same terminal BA arrives in? Thanks so much!
You will have to take your bags with you on the shuttle to the North side domestic terminal to re-check them with Delta and then go through security. This will be a very difficult connection but not impossible.
Sorry, I meant South side domestic terminal.
My Aunt is flying in to ATL domestic and I am flying in from Europe the same day, around the same time. She needs to come meet me at the International Terminal - is there a shuttle provided by the airport to get between the domestic and international terminals? Does it cost anything? Thank you!
What airlines is she flying? How much time does she have?
I'm flying from Fort Walton Beach to Atl, arriving at 16.46hrs. Will I have enough time to catch my flight to LHR which departs at 18.05hrs? What about my luggage etc?
Yes, that is enough time if both flights are on the same reservation. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to Concourse E or F where you depart and board your flight.
Thank you!
Hi,I am arriving in Atlanta from Canada on Delta and have a connecting flight on Delta in about 80 mins. I will have checked baggage. What is the process of transfer? Do I need to collect my baggage and then check it in again? Will the time be enough for that?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Canada. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.
