I am about to book flight from London Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic which will stop in Atlanta and then onward flight booked at the same time as a "through ticket" onto Montego Bay, Jamaica. Do I have to collect bags, go through customs and then drop bags and go through security? If so, I presume the 1hr 17mins time between flights will not be enough??? Advise please
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. That is a very difficult connection, bordering on impossible.
I arrive in the south terminal at 10:59 and have an international flight leaving at 12:02. Is that enough time? I think I check my bags at my first departure airport all the way thru.
If your bags are checked all the way though then you just have to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E or F where your international flight will depart. You have enough time.
I land in ATL from the UK and have 2 hours to connect to Gainsville with Delta. Will I have to collect and recheck my bags and do I have enough time to do this?! Any advice on what I will need to do to get from my international flight to connecting flight would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Yes, you will arrive in concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse and walk to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
3 adults with 2 kids - is this enough time to get from A6 to C34? I am guessing on gates. looking at current gate selections for flight # and time. Flights are not until Nov 6th but will cost to change them now for longer layover.
The gates are definitely subject to change. You won't know the exact gates until the day of your flight. Yes that is enough time. A and C aren't terminals, they're just concourses. All concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train.
Hi ! Please help - we have booked our tickets and land in ATL from the UK terminal i at 20:20 - we then fly out of terminal N to LAS at 22:32... Will this be enough time to get out and through customs and then back in to check in our bags on the domestic flight??? We are already thinking that for out long haul we are going to have to take our luggage as carry-on to save time, but we will need to check it in for the domestic flight as the allowance is too small for carry on... Many thanks in advance for any advice!
What airline are you flying to Las Vegas?
Hi - it's KLM i think? Operated via delta...it's manchester to Atl with a change in AMS so we'll be coming in from Amsterdam officially...
Oops sory I read your question incorrectly - we fly to LAS with SPIRIT airlines
Then that is not enough time with checked bags since you will have to clear US Immigration and Customs in the International Terminal, then take a shuttle (that runs infrequently) to the North Domestic Terminal, then check your bags with Spirit and go through security and to your departure gate on Concourse D. So either figure out how to bring a bag small enough that you can carry it on on Spirit or choose a later flight to Las Vegas (if on two separate reservations you need at least 3 hours, preferably a little more).
Oh yikes :( thank you for your help - there is no later flight to vegas and we have now already booked - I had no idea it would take so long. If we can take carry on do you think we might make it?
Yes, if you are doing carry-ons only and you check in online for your Spirit flight before leaving the UK you can probably make it.
Amazing thank you - fingers crossed! I've just called Spirit and changed the baggage allowance so here's hoping!!!
Sorry - one last question - so we will still need to clear customs... do we then still need to take the shuttle to the domestic terminal? or can we get straight to concourse D from security??
I'm flying in from Hartford Ct & connecting to Panama City Beach Florida tomorrow. What terminal is Delta?
You don't actually have to go to any terminals per se in Atlanta. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. Delta uses every concourse.
