Flying Delta from Denver to Atlanta with one hour to connect to a Virgin Atlantic flight to London. Is it better to carry luggage or check it through? Also, where is Terminal "S" at Atlanta or is that a general term for the domestic concourses.

Yes, "S" is a generic term for the domestic concourses. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to Concourse E or F where you depart on the plane train. If you have checked bags you don't have to do anything with them in Atlanta, so it doesn't really matter if you have checked bags or not.

The wheelchair pushers will make sure their bags are taken care of .

I have a domestic flight on a Wednesday morning departing at 9:35am. How early do I need to arrive to get through security etc. It's been several years since I've flown and I've hard security lines can be really long. Thanks!

I would get there by at least 7 AM if you want to be safe.

thanks! That's what I was thinking

  • Luggage carts and rental cars

I'm driving in to ATL for a one-way flight. I'm hoping to rent a car for the trip, but I'm concerned about getting luggage from car rental return to the terminal. I have too much for one person to carry. Are luggage carts available in the car rental return area? Rent or free, I care not. Just need to know before I rent a car. Would hate to take this option and be unable to transport my luggage.

No, there's no carts there. It's generally not a good idea to travel with more baggage than you can carry.

Hi, My wife will be arriving ATL from BWI to board an international flight from ATL to LOS (Lagos). How can she arrange for assistance with her Luggages to be rechecked in for the international flight as she will be arriving with a toddler, an infant in arms, a stroller, a carry on bag and 4 Luggages.

She doesn't need to re-check her baggage if both tickets are on the same reservation, just take the plane train from her arrival gate to her departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US>

When I land in Atlanta will I go pick up my luggage and take it to customs? And will 4 1/2hrs be enough time

Yes, if Atlanta is your port of entry you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate via the Plane Train. You have plenty of time.

What is the process for a Non US citizen to go through immigration and customs on 7/16 early morning? Will 2 hours 35 minutes be enough time? What about travel from international terminal to domestic terminal?

That should be enough time. You will arrive in concourse E or F, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse and walk to your departure gate.

  • Connecting flights

This is my first time to America I arrive in Atlanta from Manchester and will be boarding another flight to Tampa. I only have 1.45 hrs to do this, have I enough time thanks

That is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. In Atlanta you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security, and take the plane train to your departure concourse. If you miss your connection, Delta has nearly hourly flights from Atlanta to Tampa that you can be rebooked on.

Thanks I am going to see if I can get the flight 1 hour later if so would that give me enough time 2.45 isorry for all the questions

First, thank you for your help. Am Canadian, flying back on Delta from cruise in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Toronto, But have a Connection in Atlanta, I have 1 hour 38 Minutes between flights, Will i clear US customs in San juan and just take the plane train from arrivals Concourse ( B) to Departure terminal (D)? or will luggage automatically clear and forward from San Juan to Toronto.

You just take the plane train from your arrivals concourse to your departure concourse and board your flight to Toronto. There is no US Customs when exiting the US and flights between Puerto Rico and the mainland US are treated like domestic flights. You will just show your passport when boarding your flight to Toronto and will go through Canadian immigration and Customs when you get to Toronto. You have enough time.

  • How does one get help to find their gate

My nephew will be flying Sunday from Atl airport. His dad will be going to the gate with him as I purchased the unaccompanied minor service $150. They have never been in an airport or flown. How do they get help to find his gate for delta?

Go to the check in counter for your airline. They will give him a boarding pass. At the counter, have your husband ask about how to enter the secure area (past TSA) with your son. They will explain the process. They will also tell them which gate and which direction to begin walking. Past security, there are TVs that show departing flights by destination. Find their destination, and match the flight numbers on their boarding pass. Follow the signs to the correct gate. It really isn't hard, but for first-time fliers it can seem intimidating

  • Gate Pass Procedure

I am taking my teenage daughter to Hartsfield this Sunday and she will be flying out alone. What is the process for getting a Gate Pass so I can take her to the plane?

You can ask the ticket counter for one, but since your daughter is presumably over 13, they don't have to give you one.

I would nicely insist that they give you a pass. An airport is not a place for a young person to be alone. Call ahead of time and let them know that you will need to escort your child.

  • Returning from the Bahamas

My familly and I are returning from the Bahamas on June 24 and connecting through ATL. I fear I have not allowed enough time to get to our connecting flight to Wilmington, NC. There is only an hour between our arrival time at ATL and departure of the connecting flight. What is the typical amount of time required to return from the Bahamas (or any Caribbean destination) and go through customs and still make a connecting flight?

If you are coming from Nassau or Freeport you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in the Bahamas and all you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate via the Plane Train.

That sounds geat! Are you pretty sure of that? I did not know about the pre-clearance thing in the Bahamas.Thank you very much for your assistance and response.

Yes, I am 100% sure that Nassau and Freeport have US Immigration and customs preclearance.

How can I get one of those little motorized carts to get to my next flight? Gate D13 to gate A4.

You request wheelchair service from your airline. That's what those are for.
