  • Delta to southwest

If I'm flying to ATL on Delta and then catching a Southwest flight to NYC, will I have to claim my bags and recheck or can the bags be checked through to NYC.

Southwest does not transfer bags to or from any other airlines. You will have to claim your bags from Delta, take them to the Southwest ticket counter, and re-check them, then go back through security and to your departure gate.

My daughter is flying from Jackson, MS to Iowa with a layover in Atlanta. She has an hour and 6 minute layover. Will she have time to get to her departing flight? On her return flight she has a 49 minute layover. Same question as before?

Yes, that should be enough time as long as her first flights are on-time. The Plane Train connects all concourses in Atlanta inside security and all she has to do is go from her arrival gate to her departure gate.

  • 41 mins is it enough time?

Hi, I'm flying from Sydney-Australia to Bogotá- Colombia, I'll stop in LA and then from LA I'll go to Atlanta. I'll arrive to Atlanta at 5:10pm and the flight to Bogotá will depart at 5:51pm. The Airline is Delta all the way from Sydney to Bogotá. Is it possible to make it? in that time? Please, any information will be helpful. I spoke to the travel agency but it seems the staff member providing the information, does not look sure about anything.

All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. It's possible but leaves no time to spare if your flight from LAX is delayed. You will likely arrive in concourse T or A and depart from concourse E or F. All concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train. If your flight from LA is delayed you will likely be stuck in Atlanta until the following afternoon flight to Bogota.

  • Son driving/parking/flying by himself for 1st time LATER TODAY
    Nov 6, 2015
My son is driving from AL parking at a PARK AND FLY. He is taking their shuttle to Delta domestic terminal. I would love to be able to give him step by step instructions as to what he needs to do. I know there's a train he has to take but I don't know where he needs to get off for his delta flight. Any instructions would be appreciated.

Delta uses every concourse in the airport. He won't know his exact concourse until the day of his flight. There is ample signage in the airport and while large, the layout is very simple.

  • International Arrival Meeting Domestic Arrival - Where?
    Nov 3, 2015
I'm flying into Atlanta from Germany, as I have several times before. However, every other time has been a connection to another flight. This is my first time arriving in Atlanta as my final destination. I am meeting a friend who is arriving at about the same time who is flying domestically from Dallas. We are planning to meet where I would come out after pulling my luggage and going through customs. Is there a specific place that would be a good place to tell her to wait? I have never been in the international arrivals area and will not have phone access at that time. Any ideas you could provide would be a huge help. Thanks so much!

  • Atlanta customs with no bags

Hi! I have one hour to get out of the airplane from Peru, clear customs and take a taxi to an interview. Is it possible to clear customs and be out of the airport in one hour. I won't have any bags to claim only my carry on.

If you only have to be out and to the taxi in an hour, that's possible. If you're expecting to be downtown an hour after you land, no, that's not possible.

Thank you zap! Yes I only have an hour to get to the taxi and then an extra 40 minutes to get to uscis office

I arrive from Las Vegas #1602 and then have a connecting flight to Flint, MI #2053 and it states that I have to change airports? Both say Terminal S Can you help?

Atlanta only has one airport. Are you perhaps departing from Detroit and arriving to Flint? If so that's what it's referring to. If both flights are on Delta in Atlanta, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all gates inside security.

I am traveling from Las Vegas #1602 and then must get on a flight to Flint, MI #2053 but when I booked it states that this flight books from another airport. What does that mean since they both say Terminal S

I'm flying with Delta from Brussels to Atlanta (flight DL 81), and then taking another flight from Atlanta to Guadalajara, i just have 2 hours and a half of time to take my second flight, should that be enough? any tips on how to go faster would be appreciated :)

To add to my comment, my second flight is also a DELTA flight (FL 309).

Your transfer time should suffice. You will arrive at & depart from ATL's International (Maynard Jackson) Terminal, which houses International Arrivals at Concourses E or F with separate immigration & customs checkpoints. While passengers arriving at Concourse F will go through customs clearance (CBP) at this concourse, regardless if connecting to other flights or not - Arrivals at Concourse E who need to connect to another flight will be processed right there. After customs clearance and re-check-in of your bags where indicated, proceed to your connecting gate.

You will also have to go through security once you re-check your bags. You have plenty of time.

  • Question on Delta "Legal Connection"
    Nov 23, 2014
My family of five is traveling this Christmas morning from Indianapolis to Puerto Vallarta via Atlanta. We arrive in Atlanta at 9:03 am and our flight to Puerto Vallarta departs Atlanta at 9:57 am. Delta assures us this is a "legal connection", but I am concerned about making the connection. I am not that familiar with the Atlanta airport and also don't know what to expect on Christmas morning. Can anyone offer guidance? Thank you!

Christmas morning isn't usually extraordinarily busy. All you have to do is take the Plane train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse E or F. You have enough time.

  • luggage and time between flights
    Nov 9, 2014
Hi. We'll be travelling by British Airways from Luxembourg to Miami with two stopps. London-Heathrow and Atlanta. I know that the luggage will be checked through to Atlanta, but what about Atlanta to Miami? Do we have to go through immigration, claim the luggage, go through US customs and then recheck the luggage? And if yes, where do we check-in again? Next question: We have 130 minutes (if the incoming flight is not late) to move between de different concourses. Will there be enough time? It's all BA flights, however the flight from Atlanta to Miami is operated by American Airlines. Thank you for your help

You will arrive at ATL's International (Maynard) Terminal. Its Concourses E or F have separate immigration & customs checkpoints. Your connecting flight by American will be at Concourse T of the Domestic terminal. After passport check, picking up bags, going through customs clearance and re-checking in bags where indicated - follow signs to the 'Plane Train' serving all concourses in the center of their gate arrangements. Both airlines belong to the same Alliance - your bags will be automatically transferred.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will re-check your bags at the transfer desk after US Customs.

  • 38 minute layover.
    Nov 4, 2014
Hi, we are flying from Rome into ATL and then out to SLC. Delta changed our flights and we now have a 38 minute layover in ATL. When I called the Delta rep said this is a legal transfer. Is it even possible to get through customs that fast, not to mention get to the next flight?

The agent is completely wrong, call again. Point out that the minimum is 90 minutes and that this was an involuntary schedule change and that they are required to rebook you.

  • Panama City to Atlanta
    Oct 6, 2014
I am travelling from Panama City, Panama - connecting to Toronto Canada with 1 hour 53 min layover- will that be enough time? Do we clear customs in Atlanta. We are Canadian citizens

Yes, in Atlanta you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with Delta, then go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Arriving international how to get to rental car center

Arriving in international terminal - how do we get to rental car center from international terminal

  • what are those terminal cars at ATL?
    Jul 3, 2014
I've always wondered how you can hitch a ride on those terminal cars that I see transferring passengers from terminal to terminal. My mom will be traveling with my 93 year old grandmother in October and I am worried about the transfer and walking distances for her at ATL. Does anyone know what those cars are for and how to get one?

You have to request wheelchair service from the airline.
