Huatulco Bahias HUX Airport Overview

Huatulco Bahias International Airport HUX serves the southern Mexico state of Oaxaca and the city of Santa Cruz, and is operated by ASUR.

The aiport is located in Huatulco, close to the city of Santa Cruz, at Huatulco Bay and the popular Zapotengo Beach. To get to downtown Huatulco, take the exit road, turn left at junction with main highway; after about 15 minutes the University of Mar is to your right; immediately thereafter is the signposted turnoff to Huatulco; after 3 minutes there is a gas station to the left and the road to downtown Huatulco to the right.  Huatulco is accessible via Pacific Coast  Highway 200.

With one long runway and an estimated 400,000 passengers a year, Huatulco Bahias Airport is served by a few domestic airlines offering flights within Mexico, and by United Airlines, with flights to Houston Intercontinental and connections around the world.  The Aiport is also served by a number of seasonal charters. Aerotucan offers daily flights between Huatulco and Puerto Escondido airports.

The passenger terminal at Huatulco Bahias Airport assigns international arrivals and departures to the left and domestic arivals and departures to the right of the terminal complex. Inside it offers an Information point for general and tourist information, a Santander bank branch & ATM, Cardtronics ATM, food & drink establishments, and shops. 

Parking at Huatulco Bahias Airport is available in the parking lot across from the terminal for long- and short-term parking.

To get from Huatulco Bahias Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi, or one of the many shared-ride vans.
Taxi rates are comparatively high, however, a ride into Huatulco is short. To save money on a longer ride, you can take a short walk to the airport entrance and take the local bus from there, or a much cheaper non-airport licensed taxi. 
The Sur bus to Puerto Escondido costs only 75 pesos, making a short stop in Pochutla. Or you can take a taxi into La Crucecita and from its bus station there take a first-class bus.
Viajes Diamar (954) 582-0734 /fax 0737 In Puerto Escondido, runs van service form the Airport to Puerto Escondido, a 2-hour ride, but you need to make arrangements by phone.
