  • FRA Airport Overview
One of the most architecturally-superior airports, Frankfurt Airport FRA,located in the heart of Germany, as well as Europe, is so proud of its long European history and success that it offers very popular tours for travelers in order to familiarize themselves with the airport as they travel through.

Originally built in 1936, the modern airport now offers two terminals connected by the state-of-the-art Sky Line monorail. Frankfurt Airport is one of the best-equipped airports in the world, offering even a casino, as well as brand-name restaurants, bars, and first-class shops. Business travelers will find an extensive Business Center with a large choice of conference rooms and equipment, internet, fax and secretarial facilities and catering. Other facilities include a hairdresser, chapel and children’s play areas.

Frankfurt airport has its own Long Distance and Regional Train Station right under Terminal 1, connecting travelers to all points within Germany, as well as Europe.

When Portrait of Fragport became owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport, it realized that it needed a long-term expansion plan to accommodate the growing number of travelers (now 56 million/yr). To remain one of the world's most important international airports, the following long-term expansion plan is being implemented:
    1. A new runway for simultaneous landing operations.
    2. A new Terminal 3 to increase passenger capacity by 25 million/year with some 75 aircraft positions and additional taxi ways.
    3. A380 Maintenance Base: The first section of the A380 maintenance hangar "Lufthansa Technik" opened in early 2007. When completed in 2015, the entire hangar system will have a capacity of four A380 superjumbos and will reinforce FRA's position in the premier league of major airports.

The entire Expansion Plan provides a flexible concept, allowing for demand-driven developments of various construction phases until 2015.
