  • recheck my baggage

i am comming to chicago by by united airline, i have 3 hours, and have seprate ticket to go to india by air india, will i get help of sky cap at terminal 1 to take my luggage to terminal 5

No, you have to transfer the bags yourself via the ATS train. You also cannot bring carts on the ATS train. Therefore I don't recommend you bring along more baggage than you can reasonably carry yourself.

  • Can I re-check-in my bag right away during a long lay over at ORD?

Hi, I'm comming from Duesseldorf, Germany with Lufthansa and have my next flight next day with Air Canada (operated by United) to Vancouver. I reassume I have to claim my lagguage, go through US Customs, etc. The question is: will I be allowed to re-check-in the bag just right away after all the security procedures and go sightseeing with cabin lagguage only?

Since the flight is the next day you won't be able to re-check it yet.

thank you. the fact, that I have all my trip on one ticket doesn't matter here?

Yes, you usually just can't tag bags through on overnight connections.

  • Do I have to go through US Customs?

I have a flight From Rome to Toronto with a connection flight through JFK. Do I have to pick up all my luggage's again and go through US Customs and check them in again? I don't know the rules for these. Thank you for your services!

Indeed you need to - all international arrivals at US Airports go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance, and if continuing their journey, re-check-in their bags where indicated and take the 'Airline Terminals train' to their connecting terminal, where they will have to go through security check before continuing to their gate. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

I will be travelling to Manila Philippines coming from Edmonton but i have a 12 hour lay over in San Francisco. Do i need to collect my checked in luggage? Can i go out to explore san fran during my lay over?

Is your layover during the day or at night? Were your tickets purchased separately or together? What airlines are you flying?

Day layover... We bought the tix online thru searstravel.. The airline will be aircanada.. Thank you!

Air Canada does not fly from Edmonton to LAX or LAX to Manila, please double check your itinerary.

My trip itenerary is Edmonton to San Francicso which is Air Canada and San Francicso to Manila and that is Philippine airlines. I was just asking if do i need to collect my checked in luggage for my 12 hours day layover. Thank you!

Air Canada does not fly from Edmonton to San Francisco. That flight will be operated by United. Yes, you will have to claim your luggage, the Phillipine Airlines counter will not re-open to check your bags with them until 4 or 5 hours before the flight.

  • Luggage Question

I am flying from ROC to PHL for an international flight from PHL to VEN. Do I need to get my luggage when we land in PHL and bring it to International or does the airline do it

Assuming both of your flights on US Airways, you do not have to do anything with your baggage in PHL on your way out of the USA.

If she arrives by United Airlines, she will arrive at Terminal C or B; All other international arrivals use Terminal B. Terminal A is for all domestic airlines (United's are in both A & C). While United shuttles between gates of TC & TA, the Airtrain makes its round in the unsecured areas of the terminal, with need to go through security check to reach connecting gates. If arriving at early morning or evening rush hours, transfer time is not enough, as all international arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in their bags.

She will arrive in B or C and depart from B.

Thanks if she is on UA will they book her on another flight?

Yes, if she misses her connection in EWR they will rebook her. United has lots of flights from EWR to LAX.

I will be flying R/T from Shreveport to DFW on 08/01/14 and returning on 08/09/14 flying AA. I am leaving on 08/02/14 R/T to LHR and returning 08/09/14 on Delta Airlines. My question is upon arrival at DFW on 08/09 I will go through Customs with my luggage, Will I have to then leave the terminal, come back to AA and then check in with them, or is there any way to check bags through to SHV and just recheck them after clearing Customs?

Delta does not fly from DFW to LHR. You will be entering the US Somewhere other than DFW if you booked a DFW-LHR-DFW ticket with Delta.

I'm sorry, you are correct...I am flying KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, operated by Delta. I also left out that the flight back into DFW will be LHR-AMS-DFW.

So Actually all of your "Delta" flights are operated by KLM, so you will arrive in Terminal D, which also handles AA flights so re-checking your bags with AA will be a lot easier as you won't have to change terminals with your baggage. You can re-check your bags in Terminal D then go through security and take the Skylink train to your departure gate in Terminal B

Thank you very much....this eases my mind alot!

You will arrive in A. You will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with US Airways, then you will go up to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate. Your flight to Indianapolis will likely depart from Terminal B. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Priority boarding

On delta flights that are 50 seat planes is priority boarding worth getting?

No, the overhead bins are tiny, so you have to gate check most bags anyway, if you do have a very slender bag that actually fits in the overhead bins, then you will have plenty of room for it since virtually nobody's bag fits in the bins.

  • Do I have to pick up my baggage?

I'm coming in from Toronto to O'Hare and then catching a flight to Tokyo. Will I have to pick up and recheck my baggage? The layover is only 45 min. I'm starting to get the ugly feeling that I won't have enough time... I'm flying with Japan Airlines.

  • Delta baggage tracking

Hi I'm travelling on a delta connection flight then a layover then boarding another delta connection flight both are regional airlines flying for delta will I be able to track my bags on the delta app even though both flights are delta connections flight

With carry-ons only it's probably doable, but delays at JFK are very common and I don't expect much sympathy from Norwegian if you are late. You will definitely have to check in online for your Norwegian flight.

  • Aa from San Juan to MiA then London

I have an American Airlines flight from San Juan to Miami then onward with British Airways to London. Will my baggage be checked thru to London or do I need to collect and recheck at MiA. Also will I need Agriculture check at SJ?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs and then re-check your bags with US Airways at the re-check desk. Your bags will be tagged through to CLT in Doha (or your original point of origin) but you still have to do this. At that time of the morning your transfer should take 60-90 minutes.
