  • Where are my cats going to be "inspected"
    Nov 23, 2015
I am flying from Montreal QC to Minneapolis/St. Paul through ORD. I will be bringing my wife's 2 cats back with me but I am not sure where us customs will be verifying that all my paperwork is correctly filled out and in order. Does this happen in Chicago between my connecting flights or does it happen in Montreal before I even leave?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. The entry requirements for cats aren't particularly stringent. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Store baggage
    Nov 22, 2015
Hello! I am flying to NY, and then from NY to Miami via Delta airlines. In the ticket I bought there is no baggage included and I don't want to pay for it, it is expensive. I just don't need to take my baggage with me to Miami, it would be perfect to let it in NY JFK airport for 6 days, and then pick it up when we come back. Who knows how much it will cost to store 2 bags (15kg approx. each) for 6 days? Or maybe there is an option to deliver my baggage to certain address from aiport? Your help is much appreciated! Regards, Emil

It will probably be cheaper to just check your bags to Miami than to store it for 6 days or ship it anywhere.

  • Checked bags from Lagos to Lousville via Houston on United
    Nov 20, 2015
Is it true that I no longer have to claim my bags in Houston coming from Lagos, Nigeria on my way to Louisville, KY on United? That I only pickup my bags at my final destination? Kindly confirm.

That is incorrect. You have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security in Houston. People on International to International connections through Houston on United no longer have to claim their bags. However as you know LOS-IAH-SDF is International to Domestic.

We are flying into San Juan on Jet Blue. Switching over to Seaborn to go to St. Croix. Do we have to pick up our luggage and go back thru security?

If both tickets are on the same reservation, no you do not. JetBlue and Seaborne have an interline baggage agreement and all gates at SJU are connected inside security.

  • Missing Items
    Nov 15, 2015
My mother isn't one to post these sorts of things, so I thought I would do this for her. She recently came back from Italy after visiting her parents. On the way back they lost her luggage. We just got it back today, and she could already tell it had been searched because the clothes were disheveled. She was looking through to make sure everything was there, but finds a few missing items that ARE allowed past customs. She discovers that the Parmesan cheese she brought back was missing, as well as bakery items from a bakery that he aunt had picked up for her to take home. The olive oil she had taken back was in the bag that the bakery items were originally in. Also, as random and odd as this is, she is also missing one pack of tissues that she had brought from the United States. This is very upsetting and annoying to her, so I thought I would share.

Side note: sorry this isn't a question.

  • connections and baggage

I got a flight starting from Cincinnati CVG to Chicago ORD to New Delhi DEL to Ahmadabad AMD CVG-ORD-DEL-AMD the flight is all on the same reservation/itinerary flying Delta to Chicago and then switching to Air India for the rest of the flight. My question is, will the baggage go straight to my final destination AMD, or will i have pick them up at Chicago and recheck them in at Air India? and same question for Delhi, will I have to collect them and recheck them in for the domestic flight from DEL to AMD?

CVG-ORD-DEL-AMD, just to clear up any confusion if any.

Yes, since everything is on the same reservation your bags will be tagged through to Ahmedabad in CVG and you will not have to claim them in Chicago. You will just have to go from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5 on the ATS Train, get your Air India boarding passes if Delta isn't able to issue them in Cincinnati, and then go through security. You will have to claim your bags in Delhi to go through Indian customs.

  • Three hour layover in DUB with checked bags
    Nov 12, 2015
Hello. On December 12, I have an international flight with Aer Lingus from San Francisco to Dublin. There is a three hour layover at Dublin, and then I have another flight with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Edinburgh (booked on a SEPARATE itinerary). I'm concerned about how busy it might be during this time of year, or the possibility of the flight from SFO being delayed. Is the three hour layover going to be enough time to retrieve my checked bags, go through customs and security, and check in my bags for the next flight?

There's no need to ask the same question twice.

  • Delta connections dom to int at Seattle Airport
    Nov 10, 2015
I am flying from Detroit to Seattle on Delta and then have a 1 hour and 13 minute connection time to fly from seattle to Victoria in Canada. Is this enough time to connect for me and my luggage

Yes, that should be enough time. All gates in Seattle are connected inside security and you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • ATL with layover on the way to Cape Town
    Nov 8, 2015
We will be travelling ATL- AMS - Cape Town all on Delta KLM. Will we need to collect checked luggage in AMS upon arrival and recheck after customs, or will luggage be checked all the way and only need to go through passport control in AMS?

No, you will not have to collect your baggage in Amsterdam. You don't even have to go through passport control in Amsterdam as you will not be entering the Schengen Area.

Hi, Flying with AA from Madrid to punta cana via JFK and MIA with a transit time of 11 hours in NY and 2 hours in MIA, do we need to collect our luggages from T7 re-check them again in T8? Also is there any chance leaving our laggages in T8 or checking them in advance and go for a small tour in NY ( by taxi) ? Thanks in advance for your help

Btw, first flight is operated by Iberia, the second to MIA and the third to PUJ is operated by AA. Thanks ZAP

AA does not use T7. Is your flight from Madrid operated by Iberia? If so then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in T7 after you clear customs as long as they are tagged through to your final destination.

Thanks ZAP, so no need to go T8 to re-check the luggages, T7 would be fine once customs cleared. And please when do you think we need to be at T8 knowing that our flight is at 5:35? Thanks again ZAP, appreciate your help

You'd want to be at T8 by about 4:15 PM, with traffic that means leaving Manhattan by 2:45 PM.

Our flight is at 5:35 AM and we arrive the day before at 18:30PM. Hope it wont be hard to get a taxi from Manhattan at 2:00AM ? Thanks again

Oh, then you won't be able to re-check your bags in T7 since the flights are on two separate days. You will have to take them with you and re-check them in the morning. Honestly you should just spend the night in a hotel near the airport. You can get taxis from Manhattan at 2 AM, however, you may have to call one. Also considering its so early, you really don't have to leave Manhattan until like 3 AM if you do end up going there (although it will probably be harder to find a taxi at 3 than 2).

Thanks Zap, would it be possible to drop the luggages at AA terminal 8 luggage storage and collect them again at 3AM? Thanks

Hi. Could we drop our luggages at T8 AA storage area at 8PM and collect them next morning at 4AM as we have a flight with AA? Thx

  • Boarding Passes
    Nov 3, 2015
Flying from Phoenix via SFO to overseas. When I print my boarding passes online prior to departing Phoenix, will I be able to print my boarding pass for my SFO departure also? I have to exit security at SFO (arriving terminal 2) so I want to make sure how to get the boarding pass before going through security again. Thanks

If both tickets are on the same reservation you should be able to print both boarding passes issued online or at the airport in Phoenix when checking in.
