  • Determine Baggage allowance for all legs
    Jun 30, 2015

Hi, the following is our itinerary: Islamabad-->Abu Dhabi, Etihad Abu Dhabi-->Washington dc, America operated by Etihad Detroit-->Chicago, American operated by American Eagle as Republic Chicago-->Abu Dhabi, American operated by Etihad Abu Dhabi-->Islamabad, Etihad Ticketing is done by American Airlines. Booked via Expedia. -Etihad baggage aloowance is clearly mentioned on itinerary as 2 free checked. Which accounts 4/5 legs of the travel. -I'm worried about the Detroit-->Chicago flight which is not operated by Etihad, and it's not clearly mentioned. So would it be same or not. And how is baggage allowance in general determined in a multi line itinerary. Anyone can shed light on this? And the msc rule?

Hello!, I'm ariving in ord gate 3 g19 and going to k16. I have a 1h20m lay over, will i be okay? Both flights are with american airlines do i have to recheck my bag?

No, you do not have to re-check your bag. Yes, you should have enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

On June 29 I'm going to fly to JFK from Istanbul through FCO. I'm not sure if I can bring coffee either in carryon or luggage since I have no idea whether it's subject to restrictions or not. What if it doesn't pass pre-board screening for baggage?

Coffee Beans? That should be OK.

Yes, in Houston she will go through US Immigration, claim her bags, go through US Customs, then re-check her bags at the transfer desk immediately after, then go through security and to her departure gate.

worst customer service center ever. been trying to reschedule a flight and never can get thru. went to airport to reschedule and they say the only way to change is call them. forget that. to make a long story short, good luck in making changes to air travel. ended up booking another flight myself. now I have to try to get a refund. you spend hours on hold and no one ever picks up. SFB airport said they are aware of the problem but can't help out.

Traveling from Bradley airport in Connecticut to Las Vegas airport..it is going to be difficult to get to the baggage carrousel area

No, to get from the Southwest gates to the baggage claim it's just a short to moderate walk and an escalator.

  • 40 min layover in SEA, enough time to have airline transfer my bag?
    Jun 26, 2015

Hi I am flying Delta airline from Vancouver (YVR) to Shanghai (PVG) via Seattle. There is only 40 min between the two flights, will there be enough time for Delta airline to transfer my checked in bag from one Delta flight to the next? I am afraid they won't have enough time and I will lose my bag.

It certainly doesn't leave much time to spare but it should be enouugh time.

  • Will they return back my baggage during the layover?

I will be arriving at terminal 4 of JFK from Abudhabi on Etihad Airways ticketed by American Airlines. Immigration and Pre clearance will be done in Abudhabi so there wont be any more immigration in JFK. My next connecting American Airlines flight will depart after a layover of 17 hours. I was wondering if my luggage will be returned to me here or rather sent to the final destination. I am worried because if I get the luggage back here, I wont be able to go to Manhattan and pass some time if i have to drag two large bags along. And yes, both the flights are in a single ticket. Thanks in advance :)

With a layover that long you likely will have to claim your baggage at JFK.

Assuming that the American Airlines check in counter at terminal 8 is open when I land at JFK, can I check in my luggage there at that time, or is there a specific time before the departure when you can check in you baggage?

You can't check luggage the day before your flight. The AA ticket counters will open in the morning at about 4:30-5 AM.

Looking to book flights through Houston. United from Heathrow with connection to Cancun 1hr 35 mins later also with United. Will we need to deal with our baggage or just pass through security?

That should be enough time. You will go through US Immigration and Customs and Security but should not have to do anything with your baggage as you are on an International to International connection.

Will AA check my bags from DTW all the way through to PVR with an overnight connection in DFW? Please tell me I don't have to get them in Dallas and re-check them the next morning.

Usually they do not check bags through on overnight connections, especially ones more than 4 or 5 hours long or at airports that don't operate 24 hours. DFW basically has no flights from Midnight to 6 AM

I'm arriving from Canada at terminal 4 and leaving on china eastern at terminal B I have to get my luggage and re-check my bags? So I have to go by american customs?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Canada. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. If you bought two separate reservations you will have to claim your baggage at LAX and transfer it yourself.

my family will take an US airways flight from ARUBA to CHARLOTTE then CHARLOTTE ROME.. should we claim the baggage in charlotte ? or my baggage will go on the next plane without customs in charlotte and receive directly at the destination?

Aruba has US Immigration and Customs preclearance. You will pre-clear there and your arrival into Charlotte will be like a domestic flight. You will not have to claim your baggage. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Our family is flying from Chicago (ORD) to Moscow (DME) on American Airlines and connecting to Air Berlin in DUS. We have a 90 min. layover in DUS. Is that enough time? Will we need to recheck our luggage? Our tickets were purchased through Siberian Airlines and considered one reservation. Thanks for your help!

No, you should not have to claim your bags in DUS. You will just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you, ZAP! Will 90 min. be enough time for us to go from American Airlines to Air Berlin in DUS?

Yes, that should be enough time.
