We have a 14 hour layover new years day. 7am to 9pm. What to see and do!cannot find a visitor guide on the airport.

It's an airport, there's very little to see and do there. You can take the AirTrain and Subway into Manhattan. It takes about an hour each way.

  • Transfer Time same terminal

I'm flying from buffalo into O'Hare on United landing at 5:11pm Saturday night Dec 6 terminal 1 and transferring to a flight to San Fransisco departing at 6pm from terminal 1 also. Is 49 minutes enough time to change planes in same terminal. I will only have a carry on with me. Both flights are with United, also what happens if the first flight is delayed a bit?

Yes that should be enough time. If your inbound flight is delayed and you miss your connection you will be rebooked on the next available flight to San Francisco. United has many of them.

at no charge? or will I have to play for the next flight?

Yes, there is no charge if the reason you miss the connection is because of a delayed United flight.

  • Kallispell Int Airport, Ma to Chicago

Next July 2015, I want to fly direct from Kallispell Int Airport in Montana to Chicago. So far, I have not found any airline doing a direct service. Is it possible to fly direct to O'Hare or other Chicago airport?

United usually flies Kalispell-Chicago nonstop during the summer, but they have not loaded their seasonal flights for next summer yet. Check again in February or March. You won't miss out on low fares by not booking now.

Would the same apply for United from Dublin to Seattle flying end of June? Should I wait?

    No airlines fly Dublin-Seattle nonstop.

United has loaded their nonstop flights for the summer between Chicago and Kalispell onto their schedule. It will fly daily in June and July.

  • Layover @ Amsterdam

1 hour layover in Amsterdam. Flying Delta Los Angeles, CA to Stuttgart. Will I need to go through customs and claim baggage? Do I have enough time?

Your transfer time should be enough; however, I suggest that you open www.ifly.com/ams, click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS'& scroll down to the detailed text - particularly Arriving/Connecting Procedures & Transfer/Time.

You will not have to claim your baggage. You will go through Schengen Passport control and security when you enter the Schengen pier of the the terminal for your flight to Stuttgart.

We're flying in from Manchester UK, with US Airways, with a 2hr stop over in Phl before flying on to Nashville. Any idea as to which terminal we'll fly into & as to which one we'll fly out of. Also, where do we catch the shuttle bus between terminals?

US Airways uses Terminal A, Concourse A-West. On arrival you will need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags where indicated. If your connecting flight is also by US Airways, you will depart from Concourse A-East of Terminal A. For detailed terminal information, open www.ifly.com/phl, click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS & scroll down to the detailed text.

Actually your flight to Nashville could depart from any of the other terminals. However they are all connected to each other. Terminal F is connected to the others by a shuttle bus.

Our connecting flight is with Air Wisconsin, who I think are a subsidiary of US Airways. A two hour change over is looking a bit tight, especially if we've our bags to collect & re-check in. We'd wrongly presumed that, as we've cleared customs here in the UK, our bags would 'greet' us at Nashville!!!

2 hours is enough time. If your flight to Nashville is on Air Wisconsin your flight will depart from Terminal F. There will be a transfer desk for you to re-check your bags right after you clear customs. you will then go through security and can then take the shuttle bus directly to Terminal F.

Thank you Zap, that's very reassuring. It's a long enough day travelling from the UK & the thought of missing our connecting flight & having to catch a later one is not great!

  • enough time to transfer inside TERMINAL EM?

Are 55 mins enough to change flight inside the terminal EM? Arriving from Boston Logan Airport and leaving for Madison Dane County; both flights operated by delta

Yes, that is enough time. If you arrive in the A concourse and depart from B or C, A is connected to B and C by an underground tunnel.

thank you! so all the DELTA flights arrive at terminal EM ? I'm trying to book the flight from delta website (not from kayak or something else) but they don't tell me in which terminal I'll arrive, So I was wondering if Delta flights arrive always in the same terminal

Yes, all Delta and Delta Connection flights at DTW use the McNamara Terminal.

  • Flying on New Year's Day

Are there any advantages to flying on New Year's Day, such as lower ticket price or light load factors? Are there any disadvantages?

It depends where you're going. New Years day is actually one of the busiest travel days of the holiday season as it is the last day that many people have off work before they have to return. If you're looking for a bargain or a less busy day, new years eve is a better bet. Although, since this year Jan 1 is a Thursday, the people returning from vacation will probably be spread pretty evenly from the 1st to the 4th.

Hi, I'm flying Heathrow to Vancouver via LAX with Air Canada. do I have to collect and recheck in my luggage or will this be checked through the entire way? Thanks!

Note that your Heathrow-LAX flight will be operated by United. So you will arrive in Terminal 6, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bag with United/Air Canada. Then you will have to walk across the center of the airport or take the terminal shuttle bus to Terminal 2 where your Air Canada flight will depart.

  • I'm flying Moscow-Amsterdam-Seattle-Pullman

Hello everyone! I'm flying from Russia to the USA through Amsterdam and Seattle. I'm not an experienced traveller, so could you please describe the sequence of actions that will take place as soon as I land in Amsterdam (Schiphol)? This is my first trip with connections and I am a bit nervous! Thanks in advance!

In Amsterdam, since both of your flights are outside Schegen, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, where you will go through security. When you get to Seattle, you will arrive at the S-Satellite where you will go through US Immigration, collect your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage with Alaska Airlines/Horizon who will be operating your flight to Pullman. Then you will go through security and take a few underground trains to your departure gate for your flight to Pullman.

  • One hour layover in Seattle

I am flying from Vancouver to Paris with one hour layover in Seattle. Do I need to pick up luggage and go through secutity/immigeration? I feel one hour layover might not be enough if thats the case

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Vancouver on your way to Paris. Therefore your arrival into Seattle will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
