22H layoverMay 19, 201310Hi i'm arriving at JFK at 17h50 and leaving the day after at 20h00. Will I need to leave the airport to find accomodation tfor the night? Will i need a visa? All ideas/solutions welcomeMAKposted on Sun, May 19[ Reply ][ Like ]Open http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/newyorkjfk.htm#.UZjtt0qnfzY - it covers from sleeping on the floor, to hotels, and more. As to visa (if leaving the Airport) that depends on if your country is part of the visa-waiver countries. See http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/temp_1305.htmlsumay13posted on Sun, May 19

International LayoverMay 21, 201350My route is Omaha-Detroit-Frankfurt (Germany) by Delta. Is it enought time 50 minutes layover in Detroit? Do I have to go throught security again after Omaha?irina-75posted on Sat, May 18Your transfer time at Detroit depends on which Airlines you arrive & depart from. The McNamara Terminal is used by Delta & its SkyTeam partners (including Delta & Air France), while the North Terminal uses all other DTW airlines. Both terminals are at different locations, requiring a shuttle connection and going through security check. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dtw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.samay13posted on Sat, May 18Ariive&departure is from McNamara Terminal. Is it enough time 50 minutes? Do I need security check?irina-75posted on Sat, May 18At DTW, the 1-mile long McNamara Terminal has 121 gates in Concourses A & B/C. A tunnel connects in the center between Concourse A (near gate 38) and Concourses B & C (at Gates C1 of the lower level). As Concourse A is the longest, the Express Tram stops at the South station near gate A11, the Terminal station in the center near the water feature, and the North station near gate A67. Concourse A has to the left gates A38-A1; to the right gates A40-78, and at its center the tunnel connecting to Concourse B to the left and Concourse C to the right. No need to go through security. You have enough time.sumay13posted on Sun, May 19

Time to clear customs between flightsMay 7, 201310Flying South African Airways from Johannesburg to JFK arriving 6.40am, 1h45 layover connecting to Charlotte on US airlines. It's booked as a package is it enough time to get through passport control etc. (is there a fast track for connecting flights?)Domposted on Tue, May 7There is no fast-track for connecting flights. You'll also have to re-check your bags, go outside and take the airtrain from terminal 4 to terminal 7, then go back through security. You have a chance since it's so early in the morning, but you'll really have to hurry.ZAPposted on Tue, May 7

Still have to go through passport controApr 29, 201310thanks for the response. It is a relief not to worry about the luggage, I assume we still have to go through passport control. Is 1 hr transfer time sufficient?uneasyposted on Mon, Apr 29

Time to go back through security?Apr 29, 201310My girlfriend is flying in from West Palm Beach to catch a flight to London. She has about a 1 1/2 hour layover in Newark (8:05-9:40pm). Will she have enough time to leave the secure area and go back through so I can say goodbye?! The chart says terminal C security takes only a few minutes between 8 and 9pm. Thoughts?PMAposted on Mon, Apr 29

7 hour lay overApr 28, 201310we have a 10 hour lay over at IAH. We get to IAH at 1am with connecting flight the next day at 10:30 am. Besides sleeping at the airport floor, do you have any suggestions?cancun boundposted on Sun, Apr 28According to Google Maps there's 2 Denny's not too far from IAH - you could take a cab there then call another cab when you're sick of killing time there. There's also an on-site hotel at IAH if you want to actually try to sleep. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/iahap-houston-airport-marriott-at-george-bush-intercontinental/ZAPposted on Sun, Apr 28

LayoverApr 6, 201310I am Egyptian and I have a Canadian permanent resident card and I have a layover in JFK airport .. Can I leave the airport for couple of hours without US visa?AHposted on Fri, Apr 5A couple of hours is by far not enough to get to New York City & back. On arrival at JFK you will need to go through passport control, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags where indicated. This process can take anywhere from 35 to 60 mins. To get from your arrival terminal to your departure terminal via the Airline Terminals Train, going through security check and on to your departing gate can take another 30-50 mins. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.saapr13posted on Sat, Apr 6

meeting someone on layover for lunchApr 2, 201310can I meet someone for lunch at IAH terminal B without going through security?pegleeposted on Tue, Apr 2Terminal B has no outside security restaurants and you won't be able to go through security. The only place on airport grounds that I can find to eat at would be the Marriott - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/iahap-houston-airport-marriott-at-george-bush-intercontinental/ I wouldn't recommend trying to do that unless your friend's layover is at least 3 hours, preferably 4.ZAPposted on Tue, Apr 2

how to re enter boarding area?Mar 18, 201320We just found out that close friends are just 45 min from the IAH airport. We have a 1 hr layover in Teminal C. Is there an area of the airport that we could visit with them for a few minutes before reboarding our flight? Can they enter the resturant area? Or can we exit to a pre boarding area and then re enter to board our plane?Celynposted on Mon, Mar 18You could exit security and re-enter, but realistically with just a 1 hr layover you would only be seeing your friends for 15 minutes tops before you have to get back in the security line again.ZAPposted on Mon, Mar 18

I have one night layover in LAXMar 14, 201330Hi there! I have one night layover in LAX and I am looking for a way to store my luggage in LAX airport while I spend a night at a hotel but I dont want to take all my luggage with me any suggestions? Thank you so much!pamelacalposted on Thu, Mar 14There is no airport storage for baggage in LAX - you'll have to bring it to your hotel.ZAPposted on Thu, Mar 14Do you have any recommendations for a hotel close by? I have a layover because my flight is to Shanghai next day and I flying from Ecuador. So it is a long flight and I just want to have a good nights sleep maybe somewhere around Santa Monica Beach? And are ther e shuttles? Thank you, Ive been in other states in the US but first time to LA.pamelacalposted on Thu, Mar 14Santa Monica Beach isn't too far away but none of the hotels there would have a shuttle to LAX. I've only stayed at a LAX airport hotel and it was at the Marriott I think. There are lots of large high quality hotels right by LAX (Crowne Plaza, Radisson, Embassy Suites, Sheraton, Hilton), which all have a shuttle.ZAPposted on Thu, Mar 14
