Hello. Wondering if a layover of 2.05 hours will be enough at LAX. Arriving from Narita on Singapore Air @ 1:25pm connecting on a Southwest flight to STL at 3:30pm. We are 5 traveling with most likely 4-5 check bags. I am an Southwest A list member so should be able to skip any long security and check bags lines and be able to board early on Southwest. Thank you.

That should barely be enough time. You will have to hope that your first flight is on-time and hurry with your bags to T1 in order to get your bags to the counter before the cutoff.

  • Nice restaurant for breakfast in Terminal C?

I'm arriving from SFO at 5:10am Saturday, and departing for Mexico at 11:38. My son is going to drive to Houston from Beaumont to have breakfast with me at the airport. What restaurant is nice and relaxing to hang out for a few hours? I guess I'll have to leave security and we'll meet in a public part of the airport.

Can my son who isn't flying get a Gate Pass to meet me at a restaurant in Terminal C?

    No, he can't.

I am facing a 6 hour layover mid-day on a Saturday. How can I get to an activity with 2 children under 7? Is there a safe/legal travel option to get to someplace for a few hours and return?

Hi, I am will be travelling to Doha from Detroit via Philadelphia by Qatar Airways, and I have 1 hr 18 mins to change the plane in Philadelphia from Terminal B to Terminal A. Do you think this is enough time as I read somewhere the close the gate 45 mins before the departure for international flights. and also what are the chances for baggage to be transferred from US airways to Qatar Airways within 1 hour. Thanks.

They do not close the gate 45 minutes prior to departure. You should be fine as long as your first flight is on-time.

thank you...and do you think the bags will get transferred from us airways to qatar airways withon that period of time. thanks again.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Hi, we are going to fly from YVR to OGG and we are europeans with working visa in canada. Is 35minutes for changing planes enough time?Thank you for your answer.

Yes, but it doesn't leave much time for delays. Vancouver has US Immigration and Customs preclearance, so you will clear customs there and your arrival into SFO will be like a domestic flight.

I have a flight with Alitalia from Toronto to Rome (arriving to T3). Layover for 1.5 hour and flight from Rome to Tel Aviv (departure from T1). Both flights operates under Alitalia. Is it gives me sufficient time to switch terminals? Go through passport control and commute to T1? Do I need to pick up my luggage?

Both flights will actually be in T3. You will not have to change terminals or go through passport control. You have enough time.

I have a friend from Calgary that is going to Vietnam. She has a layover in Vancouver on the way back (where I live) and I was wondering if I will be able to hang out with her in the airport during her layover as she waits for her flight to Calgary? So her flight will be international, Vietnam to Vancouver and then Domestic, Vancouver to Calgary

Once your friend arrives at YVR, she will need to pass the International Arrivals procedure and stay in the secured area. You can only see her there by getting a pass issued. Also note that Domestic & International terminals are only connected on level 2 at their unsecured areas. Airport contact: 604-207-7077 or e-mail http://www.yvr.ca/en/contact.asp.

No, you cannot. She can exit security and you can have dinner in the Hilton.

I have a united flight that gets into Houston at 5:05pm and a united flight that leaves at 5:45pm, if I check my bags do i have to get them and re-check them, or does the airline handle that?

You do not have to do anything with your bags in Houston if the first flight is domestic. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

I am travelling with only hand luggage from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago(ORD) through an Air India flight. I have a layover time of 2 hours for a connecting United Airlines flight to Austin (AUS). Will this time be sufficient to get done with customs and change terminals too?

Yes, that should be enough time. You can save additional time by checking in for your United flight online before you leave India.

Oh! I will check in online then. Thanks a lot!

  • Long Layover

Hello! I have a 19 hour (yes, not a typo) layover in JFK before heading across to Johannesburg. Can I leave the airport? How long before my flight should I come back? Do I have to pick up my checked baggage if the flight TO JFK is domestic but the flight AWAY is not? Thank you!!

Yes, you can leave the airport. You should be back at the airport 2 hours before your flight. Yes, considering the length of your connection you will probably have to pick up your baggage at JFK after your first flight and bring it back later. The only possible exception might be if you are arriving in the early morning and departing in the late evening of the same day. Ask the agent in your origin city.
