  • Flight Connection

5 of us will be coming in on a flight from Veracruz MX to IAH with a layover time of 1hr 23min. Is that enough time to get through customs? We are flying on united the whole way. We are connecting in IAH to ATL. And will we have to pick up our bags in IAH if we are getting back on a united flight?

That is 7 minutes under the recommended connection time but it is doable if your first flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go to the departure level and through security. You will depart either from Terminal C, which is directly connected to E, or from Terminal B, which you will have to take the TerminaLink train to, which runs inside security. You'll have to hurry and hope everything goes smoothly.

  • International to domestic (non-U.S. citizen)

My sister's coming from Thailand on Korean Air arriving at SEA at 12:20pm. Our final destination is ANC. I'm planning to buy Delta flight at 2:40pm but I'm not sure if 2hr layover will be enough. My experiences getting through custom at LAX were exhaustive to say the least and so I was wondering if my sis will be able to make it through the custom, get the bag, and go to Delta counter and check in again in less than 2 hours? Thank you!

Purchasing two separate tickets, I would want a little more time.

Hello, I'm going to be going to Canada with American Airlines from CUR. Now my connecting flight from miami to canada is 1h15 mins. Is that enough time. And since its an International Flight to an International Location, I do not need to recheck my bags right? Is the customs and stuff enough for 1h15 mins? THanks

  • Stopover at JFK for 8 hours

Hi, between travelling from the UK to Brazil, we have a stopover at JFK for 8 hours. We we're thinking of taking the Airbus into Manhattan for a few hours. Can someone tell me what time we would need to arrive back at JFK for? All flights are at same terminal with the same airline. Thanks :-)

You should be back at JFK 2 hours before your flight to Brazil. So figure an hour from Manhattan to JFK if you're leaving after 7 PM and 90 minutes if you're leaving before 7 PM for when you need to leave Manhattan.

    Great, thanks for replying!

  • 1 Hour Layover...US Air

US Air flights lands at 11:11 am and leaves at 12:15pm, which leaves roughly an hour layover. Does that give me ample time to meet with someone who lives in Phoenix, if they meet me at the airport, and then board the plane in time. I understand that the meeting may be as short as 15-30 minutes, which would be fine.

Well, yes, if your flight is on-time and you're OK with just meeting for 15 minutes, it might be possible, but you need to head back through security at least 40 minutes before your flight.

  • Germany to Panama. Enough 1h20 in IAH?

Lufthansa big plane arriving in IAH, then 1h20 later United flight departs to Panama. United gave me this option so I believe can be done. Will I have enough time to clear customs and get to gate? Will my bags follow thru? If I don't make, is United responsible?

You should not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection. I think you can make this if your first flight is on-time. Yes, if you miss your connection you will be rebooked on the next available flight to Panama free of charge. However, that flight likely would not be until the next morning.

hi, i have a LAS-JFK Flight arriving JFK via JETBLUE at 6:45am then a different ticket with JFK-FLL via JETBLUE as well departing at 9:30am. would the connection time be enough? its a different ticket o i have to pick up and check in my baggage again.

The JetBlue agent in Las Vegas can probably join your bookings and check your bags through to FLL. Even if you have to claim your bags in JFK, you should have plenty of time.

  • 2.5 hour domestic layover - enough time to meet non-passenger

My 18yo daughter is taking her first flight alone. She has to fly back to school for a missions trip. She will arrive in ATL for a little over 2.5 hours on delta. Will she have time to meet her boyfriend for 45 minutes and get to her connecting flight? Where should she meet him and does she need to go back thru security?

Where is she arriving from? She will only be able to meet him outside security.

  • Layover 55 minutes, flying from San Diego to Amsterdam (DELTA)
    Apr 13, 2015

Hello, I am flying from San Diego to Minneapolis, where I will have a layover of 55 minutes to catch my connecting flight to Amsterdam. I'm officially flying with KLM, but both flights are executed by Delta. I am a little worried, as I am afraid I will not have enough time, especially if I still have to go through security. I suppose I will not have to do anything with my bags, as that will be taken care of in San Diego, but will I have to take the concourse tram and do a security check again? Thanks for advising.

You will not have to go through security in Minneapolis. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, I am leaving Madrid to go to Montreal, with a 7h30 layover in JFK. Will I have to pick up my bags since I am not staying in the US? Can I bring back cheese and meat product? If I don t have to pick up my bag, I would go to the city, but if I have to get them, I doubt it will be worthed... thanks

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, and go through US Customs in JFK. No, you cannot bring meat or cheese products. 7 hours is pretty marginal whether it's worth it or not to go in the city anyway as it takes 90 minutes to get into the city from JFK.

  • Is 1hr enough to make connection to DL583?

My wife and I are traveling with two young kids to make connection from DL3319 to DL583 in May, with exactly 1 hr to make connection. Will that be enough? Also, on our way back, we will have 1hr30min to make connection including US Customs/immigration. Anyone had any experience or knowledge on this one? Big thanks in advance!

Yes, both connection times should be sufficient.

  • Flying from Hong Kong to Toronto via YVR

I am flying Air Canada from Hong Kong to Toronto via YVR with 1hr 20mins layover. Is that enough time to catch the connecting flight? Do I clear customs in YVR or Toronto? Will my luggage be automatically transferred to the Toronto fight?

You will clear Canadian Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will have to claim your baggage, go through Canadian Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security. You should have enough time, Vancouver is a small airport by international standards and even if you miss your connection Air Canada flies almost hourly flights from Vancouver to Toronto.

  • Cayman to Vegas

Hi - we are UK citizens living in Grand Cayman, looking to fly from Cayman to Vegas via IAH, the flight has a layover time of 1hr 45 - is this sufficient? Do we have to go through customs etc? Is there anything we can do to ensure we don't miss our connection? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate which will be likely in Terminal C. There's not much you can do to impact your chances of making the connection.
