overnight in IADJan 29, 201220We are arriving at IAD from YOW at 9 PM on UA5959 and not departing until 6 AM on UA998 for IAH, then RTB, meaning overnighting in IAD. Are any restaurants open overnight? Also, will we need to receive and recheck bags because of different days or drag them around all night? Thx!khposted on Sun, Jan 29[ Reply ][ Like ]1. At YOW make sure your bags show stopover and end destination on their ticket. As both flights are on United, your bags will automatically be transferred to your connecting flight. 2. Presuming YOW has U.S. customs preclearance, you will be free to proceed to your next flight. However, if they don't, you will be transported to the west end of of the innternational terminal for customs clearance, where you need to retrieve your bags, go through customs & re-check-in your bags for connecting flight. 4. United uses C & D gates - C gates C30-17, with a walkway to C14-1, and D gates D1-29 - D gates are not served by Aerotrain, but by a shuttle bus to the main Terminal. 5. As to restaurants - your best bet is to inquire at the Information booth or ask attendants, which of the numerous restaurants is open after hours. United Red Carpet Club, by the way, has lounges at gates C7, C17, D8. (no on-airport hotels).1039posted on Sun, Jan 29

International Transit through EWRJan 6, 201210I am flying in from Biringham UK, and onwards to Halifax NS, Canada. 6 hours between arrival and departure. Am I allowed to clear immigration and go and see something of the city?SNDposted on Thu, Jan 51. As an international arrival, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes) - a process taking about 45 mins. However, make sure that your arriving airline makes the baggage transfer to your connecting flight (not all airlines do, in which case you would have to take your bag to the terminal of departure and re-check-in there. 2. I suggest you use the bus instead of the Airtrain to mid-town Manhattan - getting you directly from point to point. My travel estimate would be 1.15 hrs. each way. (a) You can use the Airport Express Shuttles to Manhattan, running every 15-30 minutes from the Arrivals Level bus stops outside all three passenger terminals; or (b) use the Olympic Bus service to downtown and midtown; the bus to midtown makes its first stop at the Bus Terminal on 42d Street/8th Avenue (a block from Broadway.1039posted on Fri, Jan 6

Min timeNov 11, 201114I am arriving in JFK at 14:45 PMfrom Turkey. Would I be able to catch 5:15 PM flight to Cleveland (AA). ThanksNatiaposted on Fri, Nov 114 people like this post [ Like ]Sorry - as an International Arrival, you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance, and then re-check-in your bag for AA flight - that will take on average 30 mins. Most likely you will arrive in Terminal 4 (T4) which has inside the AirTrain running between T1 and T8. Your connecting terminal is at T8 - that's about 10-12 mins, not to mention the time of getting to your gates.HH39posted on Fri, Nov 11

layoverSep 20, 201110We have a 12 hour layover ? Can you suggest anything. We fly into Term 1 frm Miami and fly out of Term 5 to Dublin with Aer Lingus.....Jerposted on Mon, Sep 191. Make sure you have your bags properly tagged, indicating all three airport codes so they will automatically arrive at your end destination. 2. Look at your ticket and see what gate you depart from. Terminal 5 has only one concourse with M gates: Concourse M wraps around the concessions Court to the right with gates M12-M21, and to the left with gates M7-M1, extending in the center to gates M8-M1 (prepare yourself for long walks from security check to gates). 3. Visit http://www.ifly.com/chicago-ohare-international-airport - Look for 'Layover Ideas' under 'Quick Links' at left. Also look up "Ground Transportation" on top of the page for your options to the City.HH39posted on Tue, Sep 20
