I am flying between New Orleans and London heathrow via Houston (IAH) with United Airlines and have a 40 minute connection time.is this long enough? And what terminals are involved please?.

You will likely arrive in Terminal C. You will depart from Terminal E. To make your connection you will have to hope your flight from New Orleans is on-time and run. If for some reason you arrive in Terminal B, you can take the TerminaLink train straight to Terminal E.

Will I need to go through security etc for this connecting flight

No, the TerminaLink train runs inside security.

  • Almost 8 hours layover

Hi, We were just informed that our schedule was changed, so instead of having a layover of 1h 18m we will now have almost 8 hours. So now we are not afraid to miss the connection, but we have too much time... We are going Toronto -> JFK -> Munich -> Cluj. Do we need to get our bags and re-check them? I think not, since we bought the tickets together, but just wanted to make sure. Also, will this layover provide enough time for a short trip in NY? Or better stay around the airport? Thank you, Adriana

No, you will not have to claim your bags, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in TOronto. It's a little over an hour on the AirTrain and LIRR or Subway into to NYC. So you could have 2 or 3 hours walking around there. There's not much to see around the airport.

    Thank you!

are you sure? I have a flight from Toronto with a 12hour layover at JFK next week and was told by Delta that I must claim my bags and re-check them. I am flying to Grenada with an overnite layover at JFK, but the entire flight is with one carrier - Delta... if I do not have claim by bags this is great news. Can you confirm? thanks

  • Arriving from Toronto, going to Costa Rica, is 1 hr layover enough

Hello, I am arriving from Toronto on a United Airlines Express flight. I have 1 hour and 14 minutes to get to my flight to San Jose, Costa Rica, which is also on United. Am I in danger of missing the connecting flight? I do not think I have to go through security again or collect baggage. Would you kindly confirm?

Correct. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • 18 hours layover

I have a 18 hours flight connection time. arriving on T4 and probably departing from T5 (JetBlue airplane), any ideas where I can sleep for a while in the airport? because I don't have a US visa to let go outside the airport.

What country are you a citizen of. If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver country you can go where ever you want. If you are not a citizen of a visa waiver country, you need a Transit Visa, even if you don't plan on leaving the airport. A Transit Visa does allow you to leave the airport as long as you are in transit.

Thank you. the US embassy told me that I don't need a transit visa or any other document except my passport to stay in airport during layover time. Do they give me a transit visa in JFK airport?

The United States does not have Visa upon arrival. If you are a citizen of a visa waiver country they just check your passport. Please answer the question "what country are you a citizen of?" and I can help you more.

I have the same situation like Gabriel , but î have 18 hours layover in Newark ! I Will flying to hong long from Canada ! I have Vietnam passport and Canada greencard ! Can I get out the airport for the hotel or tour? Tks

i am arriving from Japan to JFK at 9 pm and an 11 hours lay over. Where can I comfortably rest, possibly sleep? And my luagge is safe. I dont mind a staying at a nearby hotel or any good arrea in the airport. Thanks

I was in the same situation and I was able to reserve a hotel at http://new-york.hotelscheap.org/jfk-airport.html . They are the best deal around the airport, but be aware that you need to have a visa in order to get out of the airport

Thanks for the response. Visa wont be an issue since I am an American citizen.

  • Will One Hour between flights be enough time to smoke

We are flying Delta, and will be in LAX one hour between flights. I see that Delta's terminal is 5 and their is smoking outside of Terminal 7. Will there be enough time to smoke and make our connecting flight?

If your first flight is on-time and you run, maybe. You probably don't have to go all the way to T7 though, you could probably go to the parking garage right across the street and smoke.

I'm planning a trip from Richmond Va to Pensacola, FL. I would have 41 minute layover, is that going to give me enough time? Both flights are with Delta

Yes, that is barely enough time and leaves no time to spare for delays though. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

  • Quiet areas

I am looking for some quiet areas in Newark, in any of the terminals, to use during my layover. I get anxious around a lot of people, so I like having places to destress in. I know B has a little, dark artsy movie theater, I used that the one time we traveled through EWR. I've heard C has a Meditation Room? Has anyone been in it? Anything else that I might find useful for my layover of almost 3 hours? Thanks!!

  • International Flight to Shanghai
    Jan 11, 2015

I'm booking a flight from Wichita KS to Shanghai on either American or United. The international connection is ORD. What is the length of time I should allow for the layover in ORD to make sure we have everything covered to reach our international flight to Shanghai in enough time? Thank you!

All you will have to do in Chicago on your way to Shanghai is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 45 minutes is enough, but 60 leaves more wiggle room. On the return flight you will need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little more since you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Chicago in Terminal 5 and then change terminals. But again, on the way to Shanghai, all you will have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Overnight Layover from Oslo, Norway to Jakarta, Indonesia
    Jan 11, 2015

hi, I'm an Indonesian and I have a 12 days visa (Schengen to Oslo) valid from February 5th - February 16th. I will depart from Oslo at February 16th at 7 PM via Amsterdam. if I am to have an overnight layover in Schiphol for 23.50 hours from February 16th - February 17th (from 8.55 PM to 8.45 PM), do I need a visa on arrival? do I have to stay in airport or can I go sightseeing to the city? kindly to advise, thank you

I suggest you leave a day earlier, your visa will be expired by the time you leave the Schengen Area and you will have overstayed your visa.

  • 50 min layover to International flight

I land in Atlanta at 10:07am and im flying out international to Guam at 10:57. Will I have to go get my bags and check them again? Also is that enough time to go through the international check in? Thank you!

If both of your flights are on Delta and your first flight is domestic you do not have to do anything special in Atlanta. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Also, Delta does not fly nonstop from Atlanta go Guam, so your flight is stopping somewhere else first.

Yes I have a layover in japan I was just saying that I'm flying international with that being my final destination. All my flight are delta so that's good, but does 50 min give me enough time to get to my next gate? Also when I am going to the international concourse in Atlanta will I have to be going through custom as or anything or will it just be another terminal

It is just another concourse. There are no special checks before getting on an international flight. The only difference is that you have to show your passport with your boarding pass when you board. 50 minutes is enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I have friend flying delta w a layover of 2.5 hours. Where can I meet him to sit down and visit? He is unfamiliar w ATL airport. Could you tell me how to direct him to somewhere to meet? I am not flying.

hey, im flying from montego bay ( jamaica) to manchester Uk. the is a connecting flight which stops in ATL for 1hr 48 mins. will this be enough time? this will be booked with Delta airlines. any help would be helpful. thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. YOu will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate which will be in the same terminal.

    thanks for your help

My flight arrives from Sask at midnight, and then I depart at 6:20 am. no sense getting a hotel, but can I get through get in/Us customs and if not ideas to spend 5 hours ??

US Customs preclearance probably won't open until 4:30 or 5:00 AM. Just try to take a nap wherever you can http://www.sleepinginairports.net/northamerica/toronto-airport.htm
