I will be flying from Seattle on United with a 2 1/2 hr layover prior to a flight to San Salvador on United. I would like to meet someone for a business lunch, will there be enough time? What are my options? Thank you!

You could have lunch in the Airport Marriott. However it will take you maybe 20 minutes to get there and you'll have to leave to go back to your departure terminal at least an hour before your flight, so that leaves you maybe an hour to have lunch, assuming your flight is on-time.

Thank you for the prompt reply! Is there not a place to meet for coffee or a drink closer to security or bag claim?

  • Sufficient layover from international to domestic flight.

I'm flying from Cancun to SFO. My connection time is 1 hour to get on flight to San Diego. Is the time sufficient to clear customs? I have no checked luggage to avoid any waiting or time checking in luggage. Leaving soon. Tried calling customer service but the phone hold was too long. Thank you so much for your help!

It's well below the minimum connection time. Wait a few days and then call customer support again. Also, with no checked baggage you may make it even though it's below the minimum time. Worst case if you miss it you get rebooked. United has a lot of SFO-SAN flights.

    I made it! TY

  • Enough layover time and will the plane transfer my luggage

I have a flight from LAS via Virgin America at 9:45 to 10:55 to LAX Terminal 3 and my layover is only 1 hr. and 20 mins. to Tom Bradley terminal at 12:20pm. Do I have enough time? Will Virgin America transfer my luggages to Asiana Airlines? Do I need to check in again with my luggage or just my carry-on? And its my first time in LAX, how can I get from Terminal 3 to TB Terminal?

By the way i purchased my ticket in the same reservation number Domestic Virgin America and ASiana airlines for International flight. Do i need to claim my luggage at MAX Terminal 3 to TBIT and check in again? 1 hr & 20mins will be enough time layover?

If you purchased your tickets together your bags will automatically be transferred and Virgin America should even be able to issue your Asiana boarding pass (although they may not be able to). Getting from T3 to the TBIT is very easy. You just have to exit Terminal 3, walk to the right (with the flow of traffic) and the next building you come to is the TBIT. It takes about 3 minutes.

  • 2h50 layover - customs/pet

Hi, would a 2h50 layover at ATL be enough to go through customs (non resident visa but not WB) and then do the security check with a pet (will be requesting a private room) ? Delta says yes but you might have comments that say otherwise. Thank you for your comments.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Hi, I am lending at 6:55 AM in ORD, and my connection flight is at 12:30PM to OMAHA. Do you think I can go out to the city? Is that alllowed for canadians?

Yes, it is allowed, Canadians can go wherever they want in the US. However, you don't have a lot of time. It takes almost an hour to get downtown, so you wouldn't get there until after 8 and you'd have to head back to the airport at about 10. There's also not much to do in the early morning in downtown Chicago.

  • 50 min between Flybe and AF?
    Sep 21, 2014

If I have 50 min between landing on a flybe flight 9from the UK) and departing on an AF flight (to Saudi Arabia), will I have enough times? And is it the same terminals?

FlyBe and Air France Non-Schengen are in the same concourse. You should be OK as long as your first flight is on-time and your bags are checked through to Saudi Arabia.

  • Layover of 50 min

I am flying from San Francisco to Chicago with American Airlines. Then I will be flying from Chicago to Montreal, also with AA. The layover will be 50 min. Would this be enough time to go from a gate to another? Do I have to go through security? It will be on a Sunday around 8:30pm. Thanks!

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. Both flights will be in Terminal 3. You will not have to go through security.

  • 35 minute layover

I will be coming from San Jose Mineta to ORD via United and from ORD to LGA via United. Is a 35 minute layover enough? This is my first time to have connecting flights. Thanks.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that will be enough time. Note however that United does not fly nonstop from SJC to ORD, so that flight will stop somewhere else first or you aren't flying United.

  • Layover sufficient time?

I'm planning a trip in January from Brisbane on Qantas/Tom Bradley Intl terminal arriving 6.30am and leaving Aeromexico (terminal 2 I think) at 9:55am giving a layover of 3hr25min. Is this sufficient time to collect baggage, go through US customs and immigration, transfer terminals and recheckin in? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. You'll probably be out of Customs by 7:30 at the latest, It's about a 10 minute walk to T2, so you'll be there more than 2 hours before your flight.

Thank you for your quick response

  • Lax between flights

We arrive at LAX terminal B at 6.30am and have a connecting flight to Vancouver which departs terminal M at 2.35pm. Will our bags be checked straight through or do we have to collect them and re-check? If we have to re-check will we need to take them to Terminal B to do this or is there a transfer drop point? We are hoping to take a taxi to Venice Beach or Hollywood to have a quick look around between flights.

LAX does not have a Terminal M. What airlines are you flying and where are you coming from on your first flight?

We are arriving on Virgin flight from Brisbane, Australia (code share with Delta, which is our connecting airline)

OK. You will arrive in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then follow the sign for connecting passengers to re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will exit the Terminal and walk to the right to Terminal 5 where your Delta flight to YVR will depart.

If you want to look around you can do so - it's about a 20 minute taxi ride to Venice Beach. Be back to LAX by 1 PM. Hollywood is much further away (over an hour in traffic).

  • 80min Int'l Layover
    Sep 13, 2014
    2
Hello - I have an 80min layover in DFW, arriving from Lima, Peru (LIM) and connecting to Incheon, Korea (ICN). Will this be enough time with immigration and rechecking my bags? I'm not an American citizen. Any assistance would be much appreciated - thank you!

It's below the minimum connection time by 10 minutes. However, since there's only one flight a day to/from DTW to those locations, you might as well try it. If you miss you'll get rebooked over somewhere else or get to stay in Dallas overnight.

Thanks for the info! Very helpful.

  • 6 Hr Lay over waitng for Transporter bus
    Sep 13, 2014

My son will be arriving 5 am and bus doesn't leave until 11 am. Rather than going directly to baggage claim and getting his lugguge, can he stay in the concourse to eat and shop? Can we arrange to have his bag kept for later pickup? Waiting for 6 hrs lugging his large suitcase and waiting in the bus wait area seems tortuous. Thanks in advance to your replies.

If it is an international flight he won't even be allowed on the concourse - he will be sent straight to Immigration, international baggage claim, and customs. If it's a domestic flight, he can take his time, but they will not "hold" a bag to come out at a specific time.

It is a domestic flight. I was hoping he would not have to spend the entire time waiting with his bag. How long do you think is reasonable to get to baggage claim before he would risk losing his bag. 1 hour too long?

1 hr would probably be ok

I am flying direct from toronto to sydney with a stop in vancouver. Are you allowed to disembark the plane on this 1 hr and 40 min stop

Yes, as long as the flight is on-time you will likely be allowed to disembark.
