  • 47 minutes Connect time in IAH

I will go to SAT via IAH by United. I have 47 mins. for connecting flight. My flight is LAX-IAH (arriving time 18.45) and then IAH-SAT (departing time 19.32). Do i have to change the terminal? Is it have enough time? United staff will wait me at the arrival gate? I have to do something with my checked-luguage?

You don't have to do anything with your checked baggage. You will not know your exact gates until the day of your flight. They will not hold your flight for you if you are late. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time. The Terminalink train connects all terminals inside security.

  • what to do with a 5 hour layover from 6 am to 11 am

I have a flight coming from portland oregon that lands at 6 AM in houston, and I have a connecting flight to Cabo that departs Houston at 10:55 AM. With roughly 5 hours, is it possible I leave and explore Houston for a bit, then return and make it on time?

It's not worth it. It's over an hour into the city from IAH and there's honestly not much seeing in Houston that's worth the $80-$100 in cab fare that it would be to see it. Just hang out at the airport.

Hi, I will come with my wife(first time enter US) from amman( in Jordan) to chicago then to atlanta in March 30, and we have 2h 20min layover, arriving at T5 and departing from T3, do you think that we will have enough time to go through immigration, baggage collect, customs and baggage re-check?

Yes, assuming your tickets were purchased together that should be enough time.

Coming from Dubai on Emirates airlines arriving to LAX at 13:55. I have a connecting flight with American Airlines to LAS at 16:40. Do I have enough time and what is the best way to get to AA terminal (Terminal 6)?

AA does not use Terminal 6. They use Terminal 4. That is enough time barely. Just walk from the International Terminal to Terminal 4.

Will an hour and 13 minutes be enough time to get from an arriving flight from Vancouver to my next flight flying to fort Lauderdale? How long is customs for people outside of the U.S?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. In Chicago you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

I have about 12hrs layover in Atlanta fr Detroit to Providenciales, Do i allow to stay at the airport during layover?

Yes, you can stay in the airport. But if you can afford going to Turks & Caicos you can probably afford a hotel in Atlanta for a night, which would be much more comfortable.

  • Able to head into NYC during layover?

Hi, This summer (August 13th) me and my friend fly from Buenos Aires to Amsterdam and we have a layover in NYC JFK for about 11 hours. We fly with American Airlines. On their website I can't find any info about the possibilities to leave the airport during this layover. Would it be possible to go on a Hop On/Hp Off bus or something to explore some of NYC in between the two flights? We're both Dutch and we'll have a ESTA permit. Hope to get some info! Thanks!

It will take about 90 minutes to get to or from the city, so you will have about 4-5 hours you can spend in Manhattan. So yes, you could do some sightseeing.

Hi, I'll be traveling TO-ORD-DUB WITH A 2hr layover in ORD. I will have no checked bags. Looks like I will be coming in to terminal 1 and out of terminal 5. Will I have time to go to the gym for ~30min in the Hilton (outside term 2)?

    No, that's not enough time.

  • 7 hour layover from Seoul, South Korea to Germany

I have a Delta flight with a 7hr layover in Atlanta from Seoul to Berlin. Will I be allowed to go through customs and leave the terminal during the layover?

Yes, in fact you will HAVE to go through US Immigration and Customs. However, there's not much to do in Atlanta during that short of a layover.

There are 6 adults in our group with a 7 hour layover. Heading to Aruba . Is it wise to go to South Beach

You would have about 2 hours to spend there before having to go back to the airport. Traffic in Miami is pretty bad.

  • Checked or not checked?

Hi! On June 11 I'll be flying from Toronto to Glasgow, making a stop at IAD (from Toronto United 3630 operated by Gojet Airlines DBA United Express) with a 1 hour and 7 min layover before I connect (with United 100) to go to Manchester (then Loganair to Glasgow)...will 1 hour 7 min be enough time in IAD? Do I need to re-check my luggage/will it automatically be put onto my next flight? Or should I try to pack with just a carry-on?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. In IAD you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be on the C/D concourse. You have enough time.

  • Is my layover long enough??

Hi, I am flying in september with american airlines. I am going from Nashville 09:26 - Dallas 11:21 and then Dallas 12:05 - Las Vegas 13:05. It's all with american airlines, i'm just worried that 44 mins in Dallas isn't enough, do you think it will be ok? Thanks in advance!!

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security if you need to change terminals.

Thank you so much for your quick response. Your brilliant!!

  • 50 minuten enough?
    Mar 2, 2015

Hello, from Orlando with American Airlines to Madrid with Iberia, will 50 min layovertime be enough? THz

That will be difficult as you will have to exit terminal 3 and take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. It's possible but there's very little time to spare in case your flight from Orlando is delayed.

Thank you very much for this clear reply!

  • Connection time on Rome - Miami - Cancun route
    Mar 2, 2015

We are European citizens. At the end of July we will arrive from Rome to Miami with the Alitalia and go further with another airlines (separate ticket) to Cancun. Should we go through the immigration, pick up the luggages and check-in again? What time should we keep between the two flights to be sure to reach the flight to Cancun?

Yes, upon arrival in Miami you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will need to take your bags to your second airline and re-check them and go through security. You will need at least 3 hours for your transfer. You will also have to complete ESTA prior to your trip.

I am looking at booking a flight on US Airways but only have a 32 minute layover with a checked bag. I'll be flying from Portland, Maine through PHL then on to LEX. Will this be enough time for me and my bag as well if the first flight is on time?

There's a good chance both flights will be in Terminal F, but it's definitely cutting it quite close.
