I am flying direct from toronto to sydney with a stop in vancouver. Are you allowed to disembark the plane on this 1 hr and 40 min stop

Yes, as long as the flight is on-time you will likely be allowed to disembark.

If my plane leaves Dubai at 8:30 AM on Oct 31, and flies non-stop to JFK for 13 hours, 45 minutes, what day and time is it in NYC when I land?

It will 2:30 PM the same day, still on October 31.

i'am flying into terminal c from Dublin with a 6 hour lay over is it ok to leave the terminal to visit some friend's locally

Yes, you will have already cleared US Immigration and there's nobody guarding the doors to the airport. You'll have to go through security again when you come back.

Hi, I'm flying to Hawaii and have a 3 hr and 43 min layover in Seattle, about how much time does security clearance usually take? So I can leave the boarding area and have enough time to make it back in for my flight.

It depends on the time of day and day of week - anywhere between 5 and 25 minutes probably.

  • LAS - JFK - Paris

Hey, I'm travelling from LAS to JFK and get there at 4pm on 10.10, then I have a separate flight from JFK to Paris (France) at 7pm on 10.10 (3h difference). Will it be enough? Do I have to pick up luggage or anything like that? I'm from Europe, but since I'm flying from LA to NY, I believe that I don't have to clear customs, just pick luggage as the flights are separate? Thanks for the answers!

Yes, since the first flight is domestic all you'll have to do is pick up your baggage and take it to your second airline. 3 hrs should be plenty of time.

  • 2hrs 15 mins sufficient to get immigration,customs, terminal 3 to 5

I am taking Cathay Pacific Flight CX 7673 from Pittsburgh to Chicago(ORD). Then I need to get immigration, collect my luggage, run through customs and then move from terminal 3 to terminal 5 to board CX 807 to Hongkong. I have a time of max 2 hours for this. is it manageable?

Your first flight will be operated by American. Yes, that should be plenty of time. You actually will not go through Immigration or customs or do anything with your luggage in ORD on your way OUT of the US. All you have to do is exit Terminal 3, go to the ATS train, take it 1 stop to Terminal 5, and go through security and to your departure gate. Your bags will be automatically transferred.

Hey ZAP. Thanks for your reply. Does it mean the Immigration and Security would be done at Pittsburgh itself ? If there is no immigration to be done at Chicago(ORD), I also assume 2 hours should be fine.

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. You will go through security in Pittsburgh. You will go through Hong Kong immigration when you get to Hong Kong (if that's your final destination).

I have a 6 hour layover then continuing on to Dublin (International Flight). Is this enough time to leave airport to see any sites?

Not really. It takes quite awhile to get from Dulles to any sites, unless you want to see the Udvar Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum which is located just outside the Dulles Airport grounds and is connected to Dulles by a Bus - http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/routes/983.htm

Thanks for the response. Trip already came and went… and since we arrived 3 hours late it didn't really matter. Thanks anyway!

Hi I am looking at flights from Hanoi to Fairbanks, the flights go from Seoul to Seattle with 1h 46 before the flight to Fairbanks, the flight from Seoul is with delta and the flight to Fairbanks is also with delta. Will I be able to book my bags through to Fairbanks. Or will I need to go through customs? If I need to re book my bags through and go through customs is 1h 46 enough time?

Yes, 1 hr 46 minutes is enough for your connection. You will have to claim your bags after going through US Immigration, go through US Customs, and re-check your baggage with Delta.

Hi. I will be coming from Hong Kong to Seattle with only 1hr 20min to get on my flight to Edmonton Canada. I have 2 questions. 1. Is that enough time to transfer to my EDM flight? 2. Do I have to pickup baggage in Seattle and then check them in again for Edmonton? Or will they go straight from HKG to EDM? Thanks in advance to your generous input.

Yes, that should barely be enough time and Yes, you will have to claim your baggage after clearing US Immigration, then go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage.

  • Connect to Int'l Flight in EWR on UA

U.S. citizen with ticket from DC to Newark to Lisbon with connection. Both UA flights. Looks like UA express usually lands in Terminal A and overnight int'l flight goes out of C. Can I assume that when I get to EWR I will take the air train to terminal C, go through security there, and be on my way? Have over 2 hrs. to connect, and flight to EWR has good on time record. Assume I should be fine, as long as flight isn't drastically late, right?

This is the latest United/ United Express (both tel. 1-800-241-6522) information: 1. United Airlines uses for its departures TC, and for its Arrivals TB (International) & TC (Domestic & International) - both at their level 1. 2. United Express uses for its departures TA & TC, and for its Arrivals TB TA, level 2 & TC, level 1. 3. If landing at TA, simply take the shuttle (near gate A28) to TC (near gate C71) - no security check needed. Between Terminal B & C you need the Airtrain and have to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.

  • Meeting friend for layover

I'm trying to spend time with a friend before she leaves on her connecting flight. Can she come out of the post-security area to see me? What are my options?

Yes, as long as she has a boarding pass departing JFK the day of her flight she can exit security and re-enter as much as she wants.

Can I attain a pass to go through security to see her at the gate?

Passes are for people to accompany children or the handicapped, not regular adult friends.

  • VISA Requirements

I will be travelling from Dubai to Lima, Peru, with layover in Atlanta. Peruvian VISA is not required for me to travel to Peru. Do I need a US VISA even if I am just layover in ATL through Delta Air Lines, and will not go out in Atlanta or the US?

Yes, if your nationality requires a visa to visit the US you need a Transit Visa to transit the US. Everybody goes through US Immigration upon arrival in the US, even if they are transferring onto another country.
