  • Is 2 hour layover time enough
    Feb 11, 2014

I booked a wheel chair service of flight#DL128 for my parent next month because my father needs help, he can't walk far. They have 2 hour layover time at Seattle airport. Is 2 hour enough for them to get through International Visitor's Customs, pick up the checked baggage, and make the connecting flight#DL 9190(operated by Alaska air as AS 672)? Thank you very much for your advise!

Yes, 2 hours should be enough time.

Are you looking for advice on anything in particular? Where are you flying from and to?

  • 7 hour layover

I have a 7 hr layover. I have never been to Atlanta. What do you recommend that is closer and easier to visit? Thanks so much

There is nothing worth seeing that is close to the airport. You can ride MARTA into downtown to the five points station and walk to Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center and a few other things. I don't think you would have time to go to the Georgia Aquarium. The MARTA ride from the airport to downtown takes a little less than an hour each way, so considering you should be back at ATL at least an hour before your second flight, you will probably have about 3.5 hours that you can spend downtown. There are also some nice restaurants downtown if you want to get a meal there.

  • Can we pick up our checked baggage for overnight layover?
    Jan 30, 2014

Hi - we will arrive from Calgary, AB around 10pm at night and don't catch our next flight to Costa Rica until 11am the next morning. Because our flight to Costa Rica is with a different airline than what we arrived to Houston with, do we get to pick up our bags did the night? Thanks.

Yes, when you check your bags in Calgary make sure that they are only checked through to IAH, then you can claim them in IAH and re-check them in the morning.

  • Friday night in Houston with Saturday flight

We're arriving at IAH at 20:00 on a Friday, but our flight back to Chicago isn't until 7:10. Is it worth going in to Houston for a night and staying at a hotel there? Any hotel that has its own entertainment or entertainment nearby? Thanks!

Entertainment? What kind of Entertainment are you looking for. There is a hotel located inside IAH but it's a bit pricey. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/iahap-houston-airport-marriott-at-george-bush-intercontinental/ With that short of a layover if you don't want to sleep on the floor in the airport, I would just stay in an airport hotel. It's a long and expensive ride into the city from IAH.

Thanks! I thought that might be the case but wanted to check.

  • Enough Layover time?
    Jan 27, 2014

Next week I'll be flying from Brussels, Belgium to Philiadelphia and have a 2h 15min layover to get my flight to New York. Will this be enough time? I'm travelling with US Airways on both flights. And what kind of security control do I have to go through when I arrive in Philadelphia?

Yes, that should be enough time but you may have to hurry. You will go through US Immigration, then claim your baggage, then go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage, then go up to the departures level and go through security. Then you will likely have to take a shuttle bus to Terminal F where most of the PHL-New York flights leave from.

I'm arriving at Terminal A and my next flight is from Terminal C. Does this make a difference?

Well if your departing flight is in C that makes it even easier, you can just walk from A to C.

  • is an hour enough to connect from domestic to international flight

    DL 961(MCI) to DL 583(PVG)

Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be located on concourse A of the McNamara Terminal.

    what a relief! Thanks!

  • 1 hour layover sufficient?
    Jan 18, 2014

My brother has a 1 hour, 10 min layover. He arrives in Terminal C, and departs from B. He was planning to go out through security (at B) to see us quickly then go back in. Will he have time to do that? How long does it take to go from C to B?

He won't have much time to see you - maybe 10-15 minutes at most.

  • Meeting someone who has a layover

I am planning to meet my brother who has a 3 hour layover. Where is the best place to meet him at the airport, and do I go through security check to meet him?

You can't go through the security checkpoint to meet him. He will have to exit security to meet you and then go back through when you're done. The best place to meet him would be the baggage claim of whatever terminal he arrives in.

  • Sister leaving in IAD
    Jan 16, 2014

My sister is leaving tomorrow for Kuwait. She is departing in MDT had only 50 minutes to catch her International Flight to Kuwait. Is she is going to the customs or immigration before catching her flight in IAD going to Kuwait flight UA982. Any ideas if she is still going to immigration before catching her flight? Thank you

No, in IAD all she has to do is go from her arrival gate on concourse A to her departure gate on Concourse D, which are connected by the AeroTrain.

  • What to do with baggage?

We have an 11 hour layover in AMS. Do I claim my luggage between connecting flights? If I want to tour a bit what do I do with my luggage? Is there a place to store the bags in the airport? How much time do I need to allow in the airport to make my connecting flight (9pm)

Where are you coming from and where are you going? Did you buy all your tickets together or separately?

We are coming from LAX to TLV. We are flying KLM the whole way. The tickets were purchased in 1 transaction

You will not have to claim your baggage in Amsterdam. Here is a good description of what to do during your layover: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g188553-c79954/The-Netherlands:Schiphol.Layover.html

  • Help

A friend is coming from Costa Rica with a 5 hours waiting time for his next flight with delta also to WI. Can I meet him at the airport? Where would be the best place ?

It is possible to meet him. He will go through Immigration, customs, and security in Terminal E/F, then, normally, he would take the Plane Train to his departure concourse. However, he could take the Plane Train to the domestic terminal and you could meet him at the exit there. You could meet him or her at the top of the escalator there. After they're done they'll have to go through security in the domestic terminal and take the plane train to their departure concourse.

So I need tell him that take the train to baggage claim right? There is where the escaledor are right? Is his first time flighting at all so I'm trying make it a little bit easy for him :) thank u.

Well, he needs to take the train to the DOMESTIC baggage claim. He will have already passed through the International Baggage Claim and re-checked his bags at that point.

  • Smoking

I have a 1 hr layover arriving and departing from terminal c. Do I have enough time to go out and smoke? From my research I have found out that I would have to go through security again.

I probably wouldn't but if your flight is on-time you probably do if you hurry.

I know it's risky. I have never been through that airport so I wasn't sure where you have to go and how long it will take to get back through security on a normal day there. I from Columbus and it never takes more than 10-15 minutes.

  • 10 Hour Layover Terminal 8 help
    Dec 30, 2014
    2
Hi, I arrive Terminal 8 from London on British Airways to JFK at 22:30 I don't fly out again from Terminal 8 on American Airlines to San Francisco until 8:00am the next morning so have a 10 Hour Layover! I was wondering what I would be best doing. I would be happy to stay in airport lounch but not sure if any open 24 hrs through the night, also thinking about hotel but really once I clear customs then possibly have to check my bags again it only leaves 6 Hours or less to be safe. I leave in 5 days time so any help would be much appreciated! Many Thanks

You may not be able to re-check your bag upon arrival and may have to wait until about 4 or 5 AM to do so if you decide to stay in the airport. You may want to read this guide at Sleepinginairports - http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/newyorkjfk.htm#.UsGpEvRDv-Q It seems the best place to wait out the night is in Terminal 5.

Also, British Airways-operated flights arrive in Terminal 7, not Terminal 8.
