  • Connecting flight at AMS
    Oct 19, 2014
Hi, I am going to be catching a connecting flight to Cologne this December, from Amsterdam Schipol. I have a layover time of 1 hour exactly, flying with KLM. Last time I flew with KLM I had a layover of 55 mins and, whilst I caught my flight, my luggage didn't. I am worried that this will happen again. Was this just bad luck or is 1 hour likely to lead to delayed baggage? I am concerned that Christmas is a busy time of year and wouldn't want to ruin my trip away. Thanks

If worried about your baggage arriving safely, maybe you would consider one of the pre-shipping services (FedEx, etc.) - saving you anxiety & cutting time spent at the customs line.

  • Atlanta to Delhi Via AMS layover just 1 hr

I am traveling from Atlanta in KL0622 to Delhi (India) via AMS, layover time for my connecting flight from AMS to Delhi KL0871 is just 1 hour, am i gonna make it through security check and catch my flight within this time ? Do i have to collect my bags in AMS ?

You don't have to do anything with your bags in AMS. You should have enough time for your connection

  • Can I layover terminal 4 waiting for a hotel check in the next day
    Oct 18, 2014
Hello I will be arriving at jfk at terminal 4 at around 8 pm. I wanted to know if I can hang around the airport until the next morning then leave to check in a hotel. I don't have a connecting flight, just want to avoid a hotel charge for a wasted night anyways because after the long flight I would only want to sleep. If I can, where can I stay, will there be security around all the time, will it be heated as this would be in november. Thanks

You can sleep in Terminal 4 in the baggage claim area and check-in area. However, if you arrive at 8 PM that's a long time to stay. You might want to get a relatively inexpensive hotel near the airport.

  • Fukuoka-Schiphol-Manchester-50minutes
    Oct 17, 2014
Hi, I am bit confused. As I am travelling from Fukuoka to Manchester through Schiphol, i have 50 minutes transit time. Will i have to go through passport control area? and, will the transit time be enough?

Since you will not be entering the Schengen Area you do not have to go through passport control in Amsterdam. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security. You should have enough time.

Thank you!! that ease my worry

  • Layover meet & greet
    Oct 21, 2014
I will be flying from DCA to IAH at 10:22am to connect on an international flight at 1:14pm. All via United. I have a friend who lives in Houston who would like to meet me. I am not sure how long the actual layover is with the time zones. Is there anywhere where we can grab a coffee and still allow me enough time to get through security & to my gate?

Look at your schedule and see when your flight arrives in IAH. I don't think you will have much time to spare.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I land at IAH at 10:22am and according to my itinerary I depart at 1:14pm. Based on your response I don't think I can afford to take the chance for fear of missing my international flight. Thanks again.

I thought you left DCA at 10:22. You have plenty of time, almost 3 hours. However, there aren't many places outside security at IAH to meet. Maybe in the Hotel.

Hi, I actually posted an old itinerary time. My bad. I do believe I will have time as I actually arrive at 8:13am and my international connection leaves at 1:05pm. Is there somewhere just to have a coffee at that hour?

IAH has dozens of coffee shops.

  • Singapore Airlines E gate to Easyjet H Gate
    Oct 13, 2014
How much time will I need to transfer from Singapore airlines to Easyjet 25 June 2015 and will I need to clear customs?

Where are you flying Easyjet to? Since it will be two separate tickets, I would allow at LEAST 2 hours for transfer.

  • Layover in LAX
    Oct 10, 2014
I am flying from cancun to vancouver with an overnight layover in LAX. (In LAX at 9:00pm, leave LAX at 9:55am). Should i get a hotel to stay the night? I know Delta airlines will be keeping my baggage so i would only have carryon stuff with me. Do we go through customs when we land in LAX?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs upon arrival at LAX. I doubt Delta will let you re-check your bags for an overnight 13 hour layover. You should definitely get a hotel. 13 Hours is a long time to spend on the airport floor.

  • Thanks for your reply. to my first question my flt has changed
    Oct 8, 2014
I will be flying from Victoria to IAH . Once I go thru security is there a place for coffee as I will have about a 2 hr wait.

IAH has numerous places that sell coffee inside security.

  • I have a 30 min layoff from Houston to Austin.

Will I be able to get off the plane and get to the gate for the Austin flight?

Where are you coming from? Are both flights on United?

  • 5 Hour layover at MCO
    Oct 3, 2014
Hi, I am flying into MCO with a 5 hour layover. I have never been to this airport but wondered what the best things to do are, leave, stay, certain lounges? Thanks!

5 hours isn't worth leaving - it's an hour to anything. There's also not much to do there except some typical airport restaurants, bars, and stores.

Ok good to know! Thank you so much for the insight :)

Hello, I'm flying with Delta from Brussels (Belgium) to Los Angeles through JFK. The whole trip is with Delta and the overlay time is 1h50 minutes. I'm European. If I've understood correctly, I wll arrive at Terminal 4, go through inmigration, collect my bags, go through customs and re-check my bags in the transfer counter. Right? What's next? The flight to LA departs also from T4. Do I have to go through security again or is it a way to get back directly to the boarding gates of T4? Is it enough with 1h50m? On the way back, I just need to check the luggage with Delta all the way to Brussels and don't need to collect it in JFK and go through inmigration again, right? Thanks for the help!

You will go through security once you go back up to the departure level. 1 hr 50 minutes should be enough time. You have the process correct on your return to Belgium.

  • Luggage at Transfer terminal
    Oct 2, 2014
Hello I need to flight Boston JFK- JFK Rome with Alitalia operated by Delta and I have 1 hour for the transfer. Do I need to collect my luggage and check in it again? DO you think I have enough time? It's necessary to the passport control again? Thanks

No you will not collect your luggage or go through passport control in JFK. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. However, you may have to change terminals as you will likely arrive in T2 and depart from T4. Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security between the two terminals. You should have enough time.

  • Santo Doming - Atlanta - London connection time
    Sep 30, 2014
Hi, I plan to fly with Delta from Santo Domingo (SDQ) to Atlanta, arriving at 17:30. Then I have just 2 hour 2 min connection to catch my flight to London (19:32). Both flight are with Delta. Is it enough time? will i have to pass passport control and claim my luggage at Atlanta? Thank you!

Yes, upon arrival in Atlanta you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage with Delta, then go through security. Then you can proceed to your departure gate to London. You should have enough time.
