  • Bag Re-check

Hi, I have a flight leaving Dublin tomorrow at 1115am to Philadelphia with a layover at JFK (departs at 450pm). This was purchased under one ticket. Will it be necessary to recheck luggage at JFK before the connecting flight? Thanks!

You shouldn't have to if your bags are checked through to PHL as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin.

Hi, I am flying from Omaha to Atlanta on 17th December with Delta Airlines (1956) and I have 45 minutes layover to catch plane to Costa Rica (353, also with Delta). Do you think it is possible? What to do if I miss the plane? Thank you!

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that is enough time. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which are connected by the underground plane train. If you miss your flight you will be booked on the next flight, which may not be until the next day.

  • transfer time from barcelona to paris

I will be taking a flight from barcelona to paris and the transfer time is 50 minutes for me to catch another flight to Amsterdam. Is 50 minutes sufficient? Does Spain belong to EU ?

Yes, Spain, France, and the Netherlands are all part of the Schengen area so you will not have to go through any immigration on your trip.

  • checked baggage on overnight layovers

I get into IAH around 1:00 am and leave for Panama the next day around 8:30. If I check luggage, will I be able to retrieve it from baggage claim or will they hold it somewhere for the next flight? I'm currently deciding whether or not to take advantage of the in airport Marriott.

I assume you mean you are arriving at 1 AM and departing at 8:30 AM. If you have your bags checked through to Panama you will not be able to claim them in Houston.

Hi, I am coming in from the Los Angeles airport, arriving in terminal C, and have a connecting flight to Brazil. My flight arrives at 4:30 and leaves to Brazil at 9:15. Do I have to go through Customs/migration ? Is this enough time to leave the airport and get some fresh air? I assume my luggage will already be checked in. Thanks.

No, on your way to Brazil you don't have to go through any immigration or customs or do anything with your bags. Yes, you can go step outside.

  • Connecting between BOS and Billings
    Nov 12, 2013

Which terminals does Delta use for incoming flights from Boston and outgoing flights to Billings? Is there a tram that connects the two terminals? Is 50 minutes enough layover time?

All Delta flights are in the Lindbergh terminal and all gates are connected beyond security. 50 minutes is enough time.

  • have a 12 hour lau over in JFK, at terminal 8

what can we do interesting in this time span?

There's not much to do in the actual terminal. In that time you can go into manhattan for a few hours. If you want to go somewhere closer and simple you could take a taxi to Flushing Meadows Corona Park (site of the world's fairs) which is about 10 miles from JFK.

  • Is the layover time enough for connection at IAD?
    Nov 6, 2013
    1
I will be flying from Montreal to IAD by UNITED 3714 operated by /GOJET AIRLINES DBA UNITED EXPRESS and then connect to UNITED 897 to Beijing. The layover time is 50mins. How do I check what the arriving gate and the departure gate are? Is the layover time enough? Thank you very much!

You will both arrive and depart from the C/D concourse at IAD. You will pre-clear US immigration in Montreal. You just have to go from gate to gate at IAD, so assuming your first flight is on-time, you will have plenty of time.

  • Traveling from palm beach to Dubai with 2 hour layover @ JFK

Traveling from palm beach to Dubai with 2 hour layover @ JFK. Is 2 hour is enough to pass security and catch the next flight. And I will travel in JetBlue from palm beach to JFK and emirates from JFK to Dubai , all are in one ticket, so do I need to check out the luggage and check in again at JFK?

If everything was booked on one ticket your bags should be checked straight through to Dubai and you won't have to do anything with them at JFK. You will just have to take the Airtrain/Air Terminals Train 1 stop from Terminal 5 to 4 and go through security. Assuming your first flight is on-time you should have plenty of time.

    Thanks sir..

  • International arrival to Kansas city layover time 1hour 20 min?
    Nov 3, 2013
    1
My sister and brother in law are visiting us from Korea traveling with delta, and layover time is only 80min from DTW to Kansas City. I know they have to go thru custom, recheck baggage and more stuff before even get to the gate to KC. Is 80min enough for all that? They are 1st time flyers to US, so I am very worried.

After customs clearance & baggage re-check the tunnel connects in the center between Concourse A (near gate 38) and Concourses B & C (at Gates C1 of the lower level). They have sufficient time for transfer.

  • Airport Entertainment

Hi, I have a 6 hour layover in IAD on Nov 26th and I need some entertainment. I don't want to leave the airport as I have a habit of getting lost or losing everything I own, missing flights and general misadventure really. Any ideas on how not to be bored out of my mind inside the airport, aside from the airport bar?

Download some games or movies to your smartphone or tablet and find a plug. If you're the more active type you can walk up and down the concourses or ride the mobile lounge around.

I am flying from Columbus airport at 6 am and will be arriving at JFK around 745 www will then be flying to Jamaica will I have to claim my baggage and recheck it and go thru customes??? How do you find out what terminal I will b flying out of??? Is there anywhere I can smoke or our we allowed to step outside????

No, you will go through Jamaican immigration when you arrive in Jamaica. If your tickets were bought on a single reservation you will not have to do anything with them until you get to Jamaica. With regards to terminals, you have to tell us what airline or airlines you are flying for us to help you. On your return from Jamaica, assuming you are again connecting at JFK, that is when you will have to go through US immigration, claim your baggage, go through customs, and re-check your baggage before your flight to Columbus.

I am flying with delta and what about smoking areas can I go past security and back thru when I land into JFK

Yes, you can (make sure you bring your boarding pass with you). Also, you will likely arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 4 at JFK. So if you're rushed for time you can take Delta's shuttle bus which runs inside security (where you won't be able to smoke) or if you have over an hour to make the connection, you can go outside to smoke, then take the JFK AirTrain/Air Terminals Train from T2 to T4 which runs outside security.

Thank you n yes our lay over is 3 hrs long

  • Lay-over preclearance?
    Oct 25, 2013

I'm leaving tomorrow from Ottawa to Washington for a connecting flight. I only have 45 minutes to go from the A gates to the D gates. Do I need to clear US Costoms in Washington and will I therefore have too little time, or is there a preclearance so that I'll be treated as a domestic citizen for flights from Ottawa?

Ottawa has preclearance so you will pre-clear US Immigration in Ottawa so 45 minutes should be enough time.

Go through US customs clearance at Ottawa Airport. On arrival at Terminal A of IAD, take the AeroTrain (follow signs), which serves A, B & C gates only - on arrival at gate C30 take the walkway to gates D1-32. You have enough time.

I have 1hour to catch my flight from terminal D to terminal A - do you guys think I'll be able to make it?!

Yes, 1 hr transfer at IAH will suffice: The above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security (allow for 30 mins transfer from A to D).
