I'm over the age of 18 but I don't have my drivers license yet. I have my learners permit but it doesn't have a photo on it. Will I still be able to board a flight from Washington to Alabama?

No. You will need to go to the correct office in your state and get a State ID before your trip.

My flight is JetBlue 76 arrive JFK at Terminal 4 on 12:59pm. My next flight to Hong Kong (international) will be departure at Terminal 7 on 14:50. I will carry my bag on flight so I do not have baggage claim. Is that mean I can go straight ahead when land and take air train to the Terminal 7 and do security check only?

Yes, you will have to get your Cathay boarding pass, but yes, if your JetBlue flight is domestic you can proceed directly to the airtrain and T7.

  • Not legal in US?
    Mar 13, 2015
My friend isn't legal in the US, but he's lived here over 10 years. Could he still fly inside the US (with only his Mexican or Canadian passport) or would it complicate things with immigration?

Yes, he could fly within the US. For domestic flights the only information the airline will receive are his name and date of birth. That data is transmitted to homeland security but I have never heard of someone getting deported by flying a domestic flight. Note that his Mexican or Canadian passport must be current though.

I am flying into Newark from Hong Kong with United Airlines and then making a connecting flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Will I have to go through security at e Newark airport again?

Yes, in Newark you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the transfer desk, then go through security. When you get to Halifax you will go through Canadian Immigration and customs.

Must the name on my passport match exactly the name on my airline ticket. For example, my passport has my middle name which I do not use when making reservations.

    That is fine.

We are travelling DUB to YYZ to YYC to PDX. Will we clear CBP in YYZ? Where will be clear US Immigration? We have 2.5hrs layover in YYZ and 1 hour in YYC. One traveller is US Citizen, the other is US Permanent Resident. Are there any special requirements for CPB for the Permanent Resident? Are you aware of requirements for Perm Res to have passport expiring more than 6 months in future for CBP? Thank you!

Yes, you will clear Canadian immigration in Toronto. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Calgary. As far as I can tell there are no special requirements for a permanent resident to re-enter the US other than that they have to carry their green card with them -

Canada Air sold us the itinerary, but 1 hr doesn't seem like much time to change gates and pre-clear US Immigration in Calgary. Anyone have experience with the pre-clearing process in Canadian airports? thanks again...

We are US citizens traveling to St. Croix, but we have a 2 hour layover in Cuba. Do we need to have passports as transit travelers?

Yes, you will need a passport to get on your flight to Cuba and may need a transit Visa from the Cuban embassy or consulate in whatever country you are travelling from (as there are currently none in the US). However, there are no scheduled flights from Cuba to St. Croix. Are you SURE you are stopping in Cuba? Can you post your itinerary details?

We will be traveling from Toronto YYZ to LAX with a connecting flight to Kona . Is there special security while we are waiting .

No, there is no special security. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. If both of your flights are in connected terminals in LAX, you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flights are in terminals that are not connected, you will go through regular security in your departure terminal.
