Can I leave my prescribed medications in an weekly pill organizer along with my vitamins and bring my written prescriptions? Or do the pills need to remain in the bottles they came in?

My mother has has her hip replaced. Does she have to have any documentation for that to get thru security?

It's not necessary, but if she brings a note from her doctor it will expedite the process. If she goes through the body scanner, everything should be normal.

Do I have to declare antibiotic medicine? Traveling with maiden name passport and ticket, but my prescription has my married name. Will this be an issue ?

They generally do not inspect prescription medication in the bottles. You do not have to declare prescription medication.

Yes, you will have to go through security in Terminal 5.

Yes, people of your age do not have to remove their shoes to go through security.

    That should be enough.

No, they do not. You can check in online on your phone but you need to print a paper boarding pass either at home or at the airport.

  • Counting as ID

I very recently turned 18 and and flying out in just five days. I haven't gotten my ID in the mail yet and it doesn't look promising that it will arrive before Friday, so I was looking for other forms of identification that could count. Would a Social Security Number card or Birth Certificate work? If not, is there anything I can use for flying ID?

If you have a passport, use that. If you don't have a passport, use as many forms of identification as you have, including at least one form that has a picture (such as a student ID or employer ID).

I'm over the age of 18 but I don't have my drivers license yet. I have my learners permit but it doesn't have a photo on it. Will I still be able to board a flight from Washington to Alabama?

No. You will need to go to the correct office in your state and get a State ID before your trip.

My flight is JetBlue 76 arrive JFK at Terminal 4 on 12:59pm. My next flight to Hong Kong (international) will be departure at Terminal 7 on 14:50. I will carry my bag on flight so I do not have baggage claim. Is that mean I can go straight ahead when land and take air train to the Terminal 7 and do security check only?

Yes, you will have to get your Cathay boarding pass, but yes, if your JetBlue flight is domestic you can proceed directly to the airtrain and T7.

  • Not legal in US?

My friend isn't legal in the US, but he's lived here over 10 years. Could he still fly inside the US (with only his Mexican or Canadian passport) or would it complicate things with immigration?

Yes, he could fly within the US. For domestic flights the only information the airline will receive are his name and date of birth. That data is transmitted to homeland security but I have never heard of someone getting deported by flying a domestic flight. Note that his Mexican or Canadian passport must be current though.

I am travelling from Hong Kong to Newark and then making a connecting flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia carrying ashes. Are there any specific requirements I need in Newark?

The TSA has a page about that - http://blog.tsa.gov/2012/06/traveling-with-crematory-remains.html

I am flying into Newark from Hong Kong with United Airlines and then making a connecting flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Will I have to go through security at e Newark airport again?

Yes, in Newark you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the transfer desk, then go through security. When you get to Halifax you will go through Canadian Immigration and customs.
