  • Changing flights - recheck my luggage in
    Jan 7, 2012

Hi. So im flying into LA at about 8 in the morning terminal B my flight on a differant airline isn't till 10 hours later but still from terminal B. Can you please explain the process from getting off the plane (first time flyer) So i presume i will have to take my luggage and carry that around all day. When can i check it back in? What can i do for the 10 hours im there

    1. At your original departure airport make sure your checked bags will be properly tagged for LAX transfer and end destination. You need to contact your first your airline to make sure they forward your bags to the connecting Airline flight - not all airlines do) If you do not get forwarding service, you need to re-check-in your bag with your connecting airline. 2. Unless you have gone through US customs clearance by participating airports (i.e., Canada, etc.), you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bag. 3. For layover ideas, open www.ifly.com, enter LAX on top, and you will get the main introduction which shows at the end transportation options. Under "Airport Information" on top you get "Layover ideas". Make sure you count in extra time for possible traffic delays. The Information desk can also give you advice.

  • inmigration+customs arriving from panama

Hi. I'll be arriving to dallas fort worth airport at 13:20 from panama on American Airlines and need to make conection to a flight, also on AA, that departs at 14:55, going to kansas city. do I do the inmmigration process in dallas or in kansas city? if it is in Dallas, is that time wnough for the whole inmigration + custom process? I'm a first time traveler. any tips or help are gratly appreciated

    1. You will arrive at the International Terminal D and depart from Terminal C. 2. At TD you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). This process takes up to 45 mins. 3. Due to the long concourses and the distance between the terminals, the elevated 'Skylink' train starts in the International Terminal D at gates D1, D20, D25 & D34, connects to the other terminals in their gateway center: Station escalator/ elevator location for the Skylink at TC is between gates C8-C12 & C27-C32; the Skylink runs every 2 minutes and takes an average of five minutes. Timewise you can make it, but move fast.

  • I have passport with no visa

I entered in U.S 6 months ago with a visa and now it's expired. Can I travel from Arizona to Maryland? I have the birth certificate and driving license but both from my country, not U.S.

It is your responsibility to apply for a visa extension ahead of time!

You don't need an active visa to travel within the US as long as your visa status is active. In fact, you don't even need to show your passport when travelling within the US. It is easier to use your driver's licence instead.

I am flying from Nevada to Florida - my ID is expired - I already went to the DMV for renewal but the new ID doesnt coome in the mail until 7-10 business days - will I still be able to fly with the expired ID and paper showing I went to DMV for renewal - or should I still bring my Birth Certificate and SS card just in case ??

I lost my license since I have been on vacation and my flight to Tampa leaves in a couple days, will my birth certificate and my ss card be enough to get me through the airport and home without a photo id ?

YEs, that will work if it is an original copy of your birth cert

  • Is there one shared Custom area in GRU?
    Jan 24, 2012

Dear all, My daughter is going to Brazil on Wed, and she is planning on meeting her friend at the airport. She is landing with American in Sao Paulo airport, terminal 2. Her friend is coming with TAM and landing in terminal one. I am wondering if they both end up in the same custom area or not. What would be the safest way for the them to find each other? I thought perhaps one can go to the other one's terminal and they both clear custom together? Anyone familiar with Sao Paulo terminal? Many thanks for your help. Tara (mom)

Sao Paulo has 2 airports - your daughter is arriving at Guarulhos GRU Airport, which has two passenger terminals under one roof - Terminal TPS1 with A & B concourses & gates and TPS2 with C & D concourses and gates. Unfortunately, Brazilian Airports are only in Portuguese. It would be good if they had a cell phone arranging to meet in the baggage claim area near the information counters.

I am flying though Chicago going to Virgnia from India, Does anyone know where would be my custom in Chicago or Virgnia? Layover in Chicago is 5 hrs.

  • American Eagle flight to Qantas

I am arriving into LAX on an American Eagle flight from Denver. I am flying with Qantas to Brisbane through Terminal 4. Do I have to clear security twice, once in Denver, and then again in LAX? It is not clear if "Gate 44" is inside or outside the secured area. If I only have an hour between the Eagle and Qantas flights, is this enough time to make the Qantas flight?

You are lucky - both American Eagle and Qantas serve the same Terminal 4. Terminal 4 has gates 42-49 - just walk over to your connecting gate. (all gates are located inside the secured area).

  • Getting from Terminal E to Terminal B
    Dec 19, 2011
    1
Arriving from Mexico into Terminal E and have flight leaving out of Terminal B. Do we have to go through security again after exiting customs, etc.? Can we get the Terminalink transportation to B and if so how do we find it so we do not have to go through security according to postings.

International arrivals are being processed in the International Arrivals building (part of TE). Arriving passengers go through customs & take the escalator down to Baggage Claim Level 1. From there they go through Exit Control and enter to the right the baggage recheck area, and straight out arrive at the International Arrivals Lobby which has an escalator down to the train to Terminals B. There you need to go through security and on to your gates. Note that the B gates are divided into 4 gateways situated on four corners of a square: gates B60-66, 68-75, 76-83 & 84-88. (TerminaLink runs between secured areas - only good if you don't have to go through international arrivals procedure).
